7/22 patch!

I have nothing clever to say.

Bugfixes!
- Fixed the longstanding bug where sometimes Player 1's inputs would be duplicated as Player 2 on the Training Mode dummy / on the Controller Config screen! Now everyone can use Training Mode normally. :^) (Thanks BlueFeena for helping!)
- Fixed a random crash in super-shadow rendering when Feral Edge collides with Motor Brigade. (Thanks Triblue for sending me crash replays!)

Replay Playback
- Pressing MP while watching a replay will enable the "simple" Attack Data display. Note that it begins when you enable it, so if you enable it during a combo the current-combo-damage values will be incorrect.
- Pressing MK during combat, not round transitions or the pause menu, while watching a replay will toggle 25% slow-motion on/off. (Thanks Liam for reminding me.)

Bug Reporting
- If you have Replays enabled and the game crashes during a fight in any mode where Replays are saved, it will automatically save CRASH_REPLAY.ini and .rnd in the normal replay folder. Renaming those files to a valid replay number and playing it back in Replay Theater SHOULD reliably crash the game again. If it does, send 'em to me somehow!

Quick Match? More like BugFIXED Match!

:^)

General
- Fixed Quick Match not submitting any new wins to the leaderboard ever, which I accidentally broke when I made it support 3/5 sets. (thanks BeizlFreiz!)

While looking at how to fix that bug, I found another one.

(I briefly considered just writing this bugfix as "Fixed a bug with score reporting on PC," but we're Lab Zero and we own our mistakes as well as our successes.)

THE FOLLOWING BUG WAS PC (WIN/MAC/LINUX) ONLY. IT DID NOT AFFECT ANY CONSOLES. Every version has different leaderboard code.
Disclaimer: I may not have written this code, but I did fix it! :^P
[deep breath]
- Fixed...a bug...with PC Quick Match score reporting...that has been present since the very first PC build...where the check for when to report scores to the leaderboard was
if(mWinningPlayer == 0)
instead of the correct
if(mWinningPlayer == myPlayerNumber)
...the end result being that if Player 1 won the game, both players would report a win for themselves. If Player 2 won, neither player would report a win. So the PC leaderboard currently reflects the number of times you played a Quick Match where Player 1 won the game, rather than the number of times you won. Heh?

AGAIN, THIS DID NOT APPLY TO CONSOLES. CONSOLE SCORE REPORTING IS FINE.

The game now correctly reports a win only for the player that won, all the time.

I'm not going to reset the leaderboards, though.
*G1antK1ngTurtlE* can keep the huge pile of bodies, even though some of them are illusory. :^)

Hey, what's up guys, welcome to another one of my Steam Game Reviews®, for those of you new to the series they're basically just me giving my thoughts, general advice, and opinions on Steam games that I've played. I've been doing this series for a while now, but it's still not as old as some of the other stuff on my profile right now, so if you've got any comments or feedback feel free to post it here and leave a like, I really do read everything that you guys send me, at least when I get around to it ha ha. A lot of you guys have been asking me where last week's review was, I promise I didn't forget I've just been very busy over the last couple days working on some behind-the-scenes stuff that I don't want to get into right now, but needless to say I think it's gonna turn out really well and hopefully you guys love it, I really do all this stuff just for you guys. I know that everybody out there says that they have the best fans in the world but really man you guys just totally rock, I love seeing all the stuff people write about my reviews and you're all just so great. The fanart especially just blows my socks off every time like there's a lot of really talented people out there and they're taking time out of their day for me and I can't tell you how much that means to me. A lot of you guys have been with me since my very first review and I know we've come a long way like I really think that I'm giving you the best content that I can make and each review I learn so much and make it better like each time I finish a review I think that it's my best one yet, so thank you guys so much for that.

So that about wraps it up for today, don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe if you enjoyed the reivew it really helps out a lot and I really appreciate it. Just as a heads up I'm not gonna be able to put out a review next week because I'm going to be at SteamGameReviewCon all week, so if you see me there feel free to come up and say hi I always love it when people recognize me and you guys are the best, but yeah just remember no review next week. A special thanks goes out to all you guys who liked my last review, thank you so much and don't forget to like this one too alright I'll see you guys later.

I never seriously got into laying fighting games until I played this game.

I recieved my copy of 2nd Encore from a humble bundle, and first time I booted up story mode (played as Filia, I came in completley blind and I think I chose well :) ) I was so terrible I got demolished over and over and over again. But the game was too pretty to just shove aside. I have now beaten all the story mode campaigns, even Fukua's (Finally!) and I love this beautiful, beautiful game.

Really fun fighting game with interesting character designs and a wonderful world and aesthetic. It's like an anime set in a fictional sci-fi version of the Roaring Twenties, complete with characters called "Big Band" and a Steamboat Willie inspired cartoon brawler.

It's the fighting game that got me into fighting games, what else can I say?

Skullgirls is honestly in my opinion one of the best 2D fighters in a long time. It will probably stay that way for a while too. It's ridiculously deep and fast paced, has an incredible community and lead by an incredible dev (<3 u mike), and has super deep and thoughtful tutorials to get a player who hasn't ever touched a fighter in their life to be able to understand the basics. This game is easy to learn, hard to master, and boy is it hard to master. It has a whopping amount of advanced techniques, learnable MU knowledge, and a still evolving metagame. The community is still at large at PC, it may not seem like much at times but for the most part we're still very talkative and willing to help out with new players in any way we can, we really enjoy it.

It can be a rough start.

The multiplayer is full of experienced players, even in beginner lobbies, and for the love of god unless you have 500+ hrs of gametime and knowledge down to the frame data, don't hit quick match for your sanity and self esteem. You will get hit by 20-50 hit combos and those seem like normal strings and they can seem even more intimidating with good assists. And by all means this portion of the game is not for everyone, many people will call it bulls***, and wonder like me at first "Why the f*** is there no combo breakers and what's up with the damage scaling, this is ridiculous!" or something to that extent. It can be very, very intimidating. But for every bit that it can be intimidating, there are helpful counter measures that the community can reach out to you with extensive guides, knowledge, coaching, and more. If anything, give the game a good 20 hours, try it out, invest yourself in it, if you really don't like it, you can say you tried.

In short.

Skullgirls is a really deep, relatively easy to pick up, but intimidating animu tiddy fighter. It can turn you into a walking salt mill or a monk depending on how you take your losses and learn from them. It's got a burning community with a fire to keep this game going and to keep it going for as long as they see fit, and it's perfectly understandable why, it's an amazing fighting game.

This is my first real purchase on Steam and I have to say that I really enjoy how it plays. I do not always like it though but that is mainly because I am so new to the game. Is this game perfect? Well what game really is? I don't think it is a perfect game but it sure is fun to play escpecially if you have some friends to battle against!!

Beautifully made game, probably one of the better fighting games I've played. Though I'm quite bad at them. Skullgirls definetly has a special place in the gaming library inside my heart. My skullheart.

I give Skullgirls a 5 out of 5, for being a fighting game that manages to capture you and just keep you going. Most fighting games are all about the HYAH KYU KAMEHAMEYA and you can still get that from Skullgirls, but it also features several heart-wrenching story lines and more is being revealed as more content is added to the game. It's a story that makes you want to keep playing story mode.
