Dreamkiller es un shooter que traslada al jugador a un mundo de pesadillas oscuras y retorcidas. Los jugadores asumen el papel de Alice Drake, una psicóloga con la extraordinaria habilidad de introducirse en las mentes de sus pacientes y combatir a los malvados enemigos que perturban sus sueños. Mediante el uso de armas fantásticas y sus propias habilidades especiales, Alice se enfrenta a nuestros miedos comunes para descubrir que una amenaza más profunda reside en el interior. Se aproxima el enfrentamiento definitivo entre lo que nos atormenta y quien nos protege, y sólo uno se puede alzar victorioso a lo largo de unos paisajes de ensueño, tan variados y extraños como la propia mente humana.

Do you like games like Doom? What about the Painkiller series? This seems to be made from the same guys because I can see their finger prints on it every where (the Painkiller series). Its a lot of fun and only once did I get hung up enough that I had to look online for a solution. Otherwise its a fun shooter that lets you try to figure things out for yourself and once you do coming up with strategies was fun.

The only thing you need to know about Dreamkiller is that it's not very good, and you should spend your money on a different game. If you want to know why, read on.

You play Alice Drake, a woman who can enter people's dreams and fight the monsters she finds within, easing their minds and restoring mental balance. She finds her patients sleep being affected by hordes of nightmare creatures, and learns that there is a malign force behind the invasion. Dreamkiller is a form of first-person shooter, very similar to the game Painkiller apparently, though I've never played it. You have two weapons you can switch between, each with an alt-fire that has quite a different effect. E.g., the shotgun has a freeze bolt, and the minigun fires a rocket. The weapons can be upgraded, and are all roughly on a par, except for your starting weapon, which is rubbish.

The graphics are adequate, being neither particularly impressive nor very bad. The graphics on the between-levels cutscenes however, are bad, with Alice looking like she has been painted by Edvard Munch. Each of the levels is based upon one patient's fears - fear of spiders, heights, etc. There are only two or three types of creatures in each level, though each level has its own themed enemies. They may drop something on death, which can be health, concentration (which fuels your teleport or starting weapon) or a power-up, which if you get enough, upgrades your weapons.

It's gameplay that's the big letdown. It is very simple. Run around, shoot enemies (or sometimes the things they spawn from), pick up anything they drop. Keep doing this until they are all gone and you can move on to the next area, where you do it again, and again. After a number of these you face a level boss and then move onto the next level. As the levels progress the enemies get more dangerous and take more damage, so you have to spend longer doing the same thing each time. Little thought or skill is involved. It is unimaginative, uninteresting and repetitive. Some enemies exist in an alternate state, where you can't hurt them until you switch into that state by passing through a portal, and then you can't hurt those in the original state. You may also become berserk if you kill enough enemies quickly enough. Neither makes any real difference to the basic weakness of the gameplay.

There are small signs of imagination, like one battle set within a patient's heart, but these are the exception. Health and weapons are reset at the start of each level, so there are no interesting choices to make or skills to acquire. It is not even that Dreamkiller is a particularly bad game, which could be interesting in its own way. Rather, it is just a dull, mediocre one, with little reward for playing.

It was only a dream, but what now...

+ Advantages:
1. GAMEPLAY /// Starting play, gameplay of game pleases in its simplicity and convenience that allows you to enter into the game without any manipulations with control settings. There is a very good berserker mode that allows instantly detect living targets on screen and inflict increased damage to them, here is semblance of of rage in a dream)
2. STORY /// The idea of game is quite interesting and is able to intrigue along the passage, lined locations directly associated with a phobia of patient and has its own unique population of monsters.
3. DESIGN /// Each location has its unique design and style of decoration, in order to remind us that we are in a dream, there are holes of subconscious and some other things in design that are just not real in life. Examples on screenshots.
4. ATMOSPHERE /// Atmosphere in game turned out pretty a nice and can scare some and not disappear throughout the game :)

- Disadvantages:
1. GAMEPLAY /// Attack some monsters are so good that you are very likely to not be able to escape from the attack, even though you are an addict or oversmoker - to you nothing no help UHAHAHA Long locations and many difficult places on the higher difficulty levels with a bunch of monsters, getting out of the 10th and 11th circles of hell, just to suck your pathetic nerves :D
Strange holes underfoot and escarpments with warm open arms waiting for you, so that under your feet often have to look here and you will not do without kicks by monsters, while you check how close you are, that would fall! And the enemies of the subconscious mode along with the usual enemies are always ready to show Alice that life is not sugar, and full a.s.s :p
2. GRAPHICS /// Spite of all the developmental work of locations, there are plenty painfully angular objects that straining eyes and spoiling the overall picture of game.
3. STORY /// How epic would have not been our goals which we pursue in game - the game ends exactly the way that would be desirable punch out teeth with help keyboard! Coming such a long way, we are essentially left with nothing, and perfectly comes the big question that was useful..

Multiplayer:
Pretty a good, but suffers small size maps. 2 years later - he is dead. For a long time multiplayer is not addictive.

Achievements of game in Steam:
Achievements well, just mocking, you will have to beat the game at least 5 times, that would get achievements for every complexity and per each mode, which is already starting to create an impression that you a f.u.c.k.i.n.g fanatic who loves a bunch of times to pass the same places.. Rest of the party achievements associated with multiplayer, where it is necessary for their realization stay in game on big time.

Result:
Not looking at the pluses, game leaves no best experience. Game on 1 passing and multiplayer special attention no deserve. But the product is quite good as a whole.
