What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows SNOW to reach its audience sooner and improve the core game through community feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“SNOW will remain in Early Access until it launches fully after the Open Beta period. At that point SNOW will be nearly feature complete with all intended content and gameplay available to the users.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of SNOW will be a more complete experience having player progression, competitive game modes and a fully-featured multiplayer experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

SNOW is currently in Open Beta. This means that many features are still in development and the game's controls and core gameplay have not been completed.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“SNOW will transition into a fully free-to-play game during the Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“SNOW's community feedback is a key component to SNOW's development. Especially in this early state, understanding what features the community wants in SNOW will shape it's long-term development.”

This game is buggy trash. Tutorial says perform a basic grab and the move log shows I've done a grab but it won't register to let me progress through the tutorial. If the developers can't even make a working tutorial, I hope they all die in a fire and the game is removed from steam.

Got into the closed beta when it first came out and loved it. Played it for more that 100 hours. But they slowed down production and for a while it seemed the project was dead, so I stopped playing. A while later I went on youtube and saw that it was all over my front page and I was super excited because I thought they came out of beta and added all they promised! But the reason it was on the front page was because they completely broken the game and all of its physics (or lack there of). I was dissapointed but still had some fun with my friends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OSEQj2VqdQ&ab_channel=XenoBurger
Just today I got a message from steam saying that they finally added snowboarding, the one thing that I wanted from this game, but seemed like an unachievable goal. I was curious to see what they've added and the game is now huge. Its honestly amazing to me that they have gotten this far. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.

There are lots of bugs. As in like all of them. sometimes you just randomly crash(only happened once to me though), sometimes you dont crash when you should, use never worked for me, and while it's not a bug, it was almost impossible to see the runs diffrent from the snow on the side.
With all of that said though, it's still fun. I find myself fixated on doing soem very specific weird stuff, and it's fun to try to complete those goals. The controls aren't great, but if you switch it from being a snow sport simulator to just being a weird fun game, it works. It's very early acsess, but it's still fun. Good concept, and I can't wait to see it improve.

Snowboarding is buggy as hell, and when you're switch stance(goofy), flipping controls are reversed. Like pushing up on the analog intending to do a frontflip results in a backflip which is confusing, and should be addressed. There aren't any rail sounds either with the snowboard. Both skiing and snowboarding have issues with uncontrollable choppiness when somehow "stuck" moving through the ground (hard to explain but you know what I'm talking about). Can't believe the snowmobile wasn't provided for free to those of us who actually paid for the game before it was made free to play. Other then that its a great game with lots of different terrain and the graphics are great.

Oh yeah, and adding support for Oculus Rift CV1 and Vive would be amazing.

This game is great if you like visuals, the snowboarding controls really let this game down, it just isn't fun gameplay wise like other titles. Real shame cause it looked great, maybe this game will develop further down the line but i highly doubt it will get better.

Positives:

-Great visuals.

Negatives:

-No option for 2560x1080 resolution, this includes no custom resolutions aswell.
-Multiplayer is bugged and broken.
-Tutorial is irritating as hell.

This is an amazing game with lot of potential. The beta shows so many features that could be implemented very well. It is in open beta at the moment soo expect bugs and glitches, but if they are all addressed then this will be a very well put together game. There hasn't been a good snowboarding game since the PS2, but Snow has the potential to become the number one snowboarding game of all time and I'm not exagerating.

3 years into development and everything about this game is still super janky. The UI is horrible, the gameplay is horrendous, and the snowboarding is a joke. I paid $20 bucks to play this before it was free-to-play, probably the worst Steam purchase I've ever made.

Honestly, SNOW has to be one of the best games I have played, hands down the best game I have played in the last few years.
The developers are super helpful, quickly responding and solving any question I had in literally under 30 minutes.
I’ve played SNOW since one of the pretty earlier alphas, it has come a long way since then.
SNOW seems to do, everything you could expect, even from hyped up “expectation” videos. Great skiing, amazing cinematic graphics, even small details that, just made the game like a drone you can fly a drone around, getting great cinematic shots of you and your friends, they even have made 2 extra models, one of the DJI Inspire 1.
Old, very old video I made of SNOW:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zujMGMY0HDw

I’d highly recommend trying it out, it’s even free to play now!

Pretty neat game. Interesting concept and entertaining. Very good game to just chill out with. Given that its Early Access I'm not gonna waste my time doing any sorta long review, but its F2P and only about 4GB so give it a shot, not much to lose.

Ignore the idiots giving tons of negative reviews saying 'controls too complicated dont bother'. They're just idiots. If you've got half a freakin' brain you'll be fine.

The gaem is stunning graphics wise and i like the fact there is real brands it makes the game have some realism. I would like to see more brands in game like climbing makes and kit but the animations for the characters jumping and manovers needs to be worked and i understand its in beta but this game will be a 10/10 in my books if this is fixed well done on a game ive been looking for.

This game is wild, you can find some really amazing jumps and flowing lines if you get super creative and use the drone feature, there is always new lines to be found this game is endless fun especially if you enjoy freeskiing and pulling mad stunts! Butters could be a bit better and theres obviously glitches from time to time but for a free to play game this is worth the try!

Great game, super fun if you enjoy skiing in real life. I find it is a great way to mimic actually getting out on the mountain, I can't wait till we can build kickers wherever we want and do impromptu urban with placed kickers! Mechanics and visuals are great, run really well on my computer on completely max settings. I would definitely recommend to anyone considering it.

A free-to-play open-world skiing game that allows you to free roam online (and offline) in a sizable mountain environment as well as partake in several events. The visuals are nice to look at, the skiing with others can be fun, and the game-world will keep you busy for hours exploring.

As of writing this, the restrictions for this free-to-play is primarily cosmetic related, and nothing that stops you from playing really. The prices for cosmetic items aren’t unreasonable – maybe 10-15 pounds to outfit your entire outfit with whatever you want, sort of the price of a typical game. There is no pay-to-win items, as it’s simply cosmetics, and no consumables, so really once you’ve got your looks sorted, that’s likely all you’ll want to spend. Not that you really need to spend any money at all to simply play the game.

So if you want to go skiing, or maybe just want to see some snow, then SNOW delivers, with no cost involved at simply trying it for yourself.

I don't normally review games, but SNOW has so much potential that i feel i have to give my feedback on it.

First of all, it's a great idea, there's no other games like this and the free-roaming skiing premise has not been done very much before.

Bearing in mind that it's completely free-to-play, i think it very good. It's still got many bugs, but as a free to play early access that only to be expected. There's a huge variety of maps, and the controls are relatively easy to get the hang of.

However, the new update has caused my character to die whenever i get dropped off, meaning only snowboarding works as an option, which is very frustrating as skiing feels more fluid at the moment. Also, the charcter model has completely disappeared (if intentional this really detracts from the game), so my skier has is merely a floating hat and gloves, with no body.

Would I recommend? Yes. its free, so why not? There are many bugs and it's certainly still in early stages, but there is huge potential here, and a finished product could be outstanding.

It is impossible to not sound thirteen years old when playing or describing this game. There is no hyperbole too grandiose for the genre-blurring open-world ski-sim experience that is SNOW. I rarely review games, but this one moved me to tell you to play it NOW.
