What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows SNOW to reach its audience sooner and improve the core game through community feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“SNOW will remain in Early Access until it launches fully after the Open Beta period. At that point SNOW will be nearly feature complete with all intended content and gameplay available to the users.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of SNOW will be a more complete experience having player progression, competitive game modes and a fully-featured multiplayer experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

SNOW is currently in Open Beta. This means that many features are still in development and the game's controls and core gameplay have not been completed.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“SNOW will transition into a fully free-to-play game during the Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“SNOW's community feedback is a key component to SNOW's development. Especially in this early state, understanding what features the community wants in SNOW will shape it's long-term development.”

I would've recommended the game about a month ago, and to be honest i did to a bunch of friends of me. I enjoyed this game thoroughly and liked the freeform, freestyle gameplay of it and the (relatively) good graphics and gameplay were a treat to experience.

Unfortunately after the latest update i can no longer recommend this game to anybody. Not that the addition of snowboards and snowmobiles aren't nice, on the contrary (waited for a long time for those). But the whole "pushing forward" motion to get around on skis is broken, so that you now only can tuck, making the whole process of starting your run down the mountain pretty tedious. YOu will be sliding down the first part of the run at about a mile per hour for the first 10 minutes before you actually make some speed and pushing youself a small bit up a slope is completely making every run slow and boring. Too bad, because the previously mentioned additions (though hidden behind microtransactions) are really cool. Too bad, man.

I would recommend people to follow this game, it needs a lot of work especially on the graphics. In the future I can see this game being really good. You also have to keep in mind tht this game is free so we dont really have a right to complain anyway.

The fact that this game recieves so many ill concived reviews baffles me. This game is probably one of the best Free to Play games out there for PC. There is no Pay-2-Win aspects, because any in-game items that are purchased with the games currency are only cosmetic and do not change your stats whatsoever. The game may be a little glitchy but people fail to realize that its still in Early Access, and the fact that some people compare this (which is somewhat of a simulator) to SSX (an arcade style skiing game that has absolutly nothing in common except for the sport) is part of the reason this game gets so many negative reviews, even though it doesn't deserve it. Its F2P so theres nothing to lose and if you don't like it uninstall it, but just get the game because its soo good

I remember playing the SSX games back on the PS2. This is like a more realistic, better looking take on those games (although at its current state it´s debatable wether it´s more realistic or not). The devs are active on the game´s forum and they even have a thread where you can suggest the devs to include new things.
It has microtranstactions, yes, but they´re only to buy credits which you can use to buy ONLY COSMETIC items. +1 on that one.
The game runs great, plays smooth, and the snowboarding is great.
I played 4 hours straight of this game today with my friend and we enjoyed every moment of it!

You still have to keep in mind it´s in beta and has various glitches which are constantly being fixed. If you encounter a glitch or bug you can report it on an active forum thread specifically for glitches; the devs will most probably read it and start woking on a fix.

What to do in the game, Snow.

1) Go to summit
2) Gain a lot of speed
3) Smash into something
4) Watch the high amount of flailing if done right
5) Repeat

Pretty neat game. Interesting concept and entertaining. Very good game to just chill out with. Given that its Early Access I'm not gonna waste my time doing any sorta long review, but its F2P and only about 4GB so give it a shot, not much to lose.

Ignore the idiots giving tons of negative reviews saying 'controls too complicated dont bother'. They're just idiots. If you've got half a freakin' brain you'll be fine.

There are lots of bugs. As in like all of them. sometimes you just randomly crash(only happened once to me though), sometimes you dont crash when you should, use never worked for me, and while it's not a bug, it was almost impossible to see the runs diffrent from the snow on the side.
With all of that said though, it's still fun. I find myself fixated on doing soem very specific weird stuff, and it's fun to try to complete those goals. The controls aren't great, but if you switch it from being a snow sport simulator to just being a weird fun game, it works. It's very early acsess, but it's still fun. Good concept, and I can't wait to see it improve.

Got into the closed beta when it first came out and loved it. Played it for more that 100 hours. But they slowed down production and for a while it seemed the project was dead, so I stopped playing. A while later I went on youtube and saw that it was all over my front page and I was super excited because I thought they came out of beta and added all they promised! But the reason it was on the front page was because they completely broken the game and all of its physics (or lack there of). I was dissapointed but still had some fun with my friends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OSEQj2VqdQ&ab_channel=XenoBurger
Just today I got a message from steam saying that they finally added snowboarding, the one thing that I wanted from this game, but seemed like an unachievable goal. I was curious to see what they've added and the game is now huge. Its honestly amazing to me that they have gotten this far. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Snowboarding is buggy as hell, and when you're switch stance(goofy), flipping controls are reversed. Like pushing up on the analog intending to do a frontflip results in a backflip which is confusing, and should be addressed. There aren't any rail sounds either with the snowboard. Both skiing and snowboarding have issues with uncontrollable choppiness when somehow "stuck" moving through the ground (hard to explain but you know what I'm talking about). Can't believe the snowmobile wasn't provided for free to those of us who actually paid for the game before it was made free to play. Other then that its a great game with lots of different terrain and the graphics are great.

Oh yeah, and adding support for Oculus Rift CV1 and Vive would be amazing.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am limited to placing 2 drop points and this is extremely frustrating since you can't select which one to override with a new drop point, as it will always override the older one. We should have unlimited number of drop points, as well as the option to select and delete them. Also with the new update I can't land the fun and unrealistically massive jumps even when lined up properly with the ground.

I saw this on featured on the front of the store, thought I'd give it a whirl. It's a modest sized download, looks pretty good, sounds absolutely wonderful and is a bit of fun. My time has thus far been consumed by the downhills on skis, the snowboard was a bit like a slippery version of Tony Hawk's for me. Good fun, have a crack.

I would like to see more brands in game like climbing makes and kit but the animations for the characters jumping and manovers needs to be worked and i understand its in beta but this game will be a 10/10 in my books if this is fixed well done on a game ive been looking for.

Honestly, SNOW has to be one of the best games I have played, hands down the best game I have played in the last few years.
The developers are super helpful, quickly responding and solving any question I had in literally under 30 minutes.
I’ve played SNOW since one of the pretty earlier alphas, it has come a long way since then.
SNOW seems to do, everything you could expect, even from hyped up “expectation” videos. Great skiing, amazing cinematic graphics, even small details that, just made the game like a drone you can fly a drone around, getting great cinematic shots of you and your friends, they even have made 2 extra models, one of the DJI Inspire 1.
Old, very old video I made of SNOW:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zujMGMY0HDw

I’d highly recommend trying it out, it’s even free to play now!

The scenery overall is great but up close the textures seem a bit shabby (and it's not that im running it on low settings, everything is on max) my snowboard seems to phase through the ground most of the time. The game runs smooth and is overall pretty good.

Flipping awesome game! And the fact that it's free to play is why I can forgive so many things.

Good:
+ open world
+ ways to get to the summit or top of a track instantly
+ bunch of gear to stand out from the others
+ snowboards included
+ a myriad of tricks and flips to do
+ changing time of day
+ replay/rewind available
+ first person where you can see your body and the board

Meh:
~ no grind sounds for snowboard yet
~ no weather effects
~ servers sometimes have higher ping, but multiplayer is otherwise functional and enjoyable
~ launching the game connects it to the servers, what if your internet goes down?

Bad:
- when you tap W w/ a snowboard in first person, the camera looks down to the lower left, it's disorienting
- sometimes the game freezes and unfreezes, sometimes you have to close the process because it will not unfreeze, this makes you lose all the points that weren't saved (End Session), which is frustrating because it's more satisfying to go on big score runs and then end the session before you stop playing, rather than every time you pass a tickets booth just so you don't lose any points

Great game, would recommend, and if they update it more it will get even better. A must have for winter sports montage makers.
