What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows SNOW to reach its audience sooner and improve the core game through community feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“SNOW will remain in Early Access until it launches fully after the Open Beta period. At that point SNOW will be nearly feature complete with all intended content and gameplay available to the users.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of SNOW will be a more complete experience having player progression, competitive game modes and a fully-featured multiplayer experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

SNOW is currently in Open Beta. This means that many features are still in development and the game's controls and core gameplay have not been completed.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“SNOW will transition into a fully free-to-play game during the Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“SNOW's community feedback is a key component to SNOW's development. Especially in this early state, understanding what features the community wants in SNOW will shape it's long-term development.”

Where do I even start... this game has great potentail but has more problems than anything. First off, you have to pay real money in order to buy things for your in-game character. Which is ridiculous! The new content is not free (Snowmobile) and there are numerous bugs and glitches that have reappeared in the game. Many problems with the resolution and textures when first booting up the game. I overall think this game has the potential to be a good game, but not yet, not until the currency system gets better and the playability gets better. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME.

The game is completely broken on linux. Until that's fixed, this review stays a thumbs down.

On windows, i was able to launch and start the tutorials, but the game would not recognize when I did a basic grab on the jump tutorials. A 360 was recognized just fine, but grabbing ANY side of the snowboard did not register and was sent back to the start roughly 10 times before i quit and deleted the game. (this is also why i have only 0.2 hours as of writing this)

Many issues to address as this early access game improves.
If this had a star rating, i'd give it a 3/5 and a star can be added each for: Making the linux client work; refining the tutorials so that you can actually pass them.

It's an okay game for being free but there are a lot of problems. It's really hard to actually get onto a rail. The speed of everything is all off. You can be mobbing into a jump and still knuckle it. Hopefully some updates will fix all the problems but I don't think it's worth the space in its current condition.

I have been following this game forever but I have not been playing it. This week I finally decided to give it a go. Today, it updated to include snowboarding (which is what I have really been waiting for.). After an hour or so, I am totally in love with this game. Its super relaxing for some reason. I feel like I will be playing it for a long long time.

I don't normally review games, but SNOW has so much potential that i feel i have to give my feedback on it.

First of all, it's a great idea, there's no other games like this and the free-roaming skiing premise has not been done very much before.

Bearing in mind that it's completely free-to-play, i think it very good. It's still got many bugs, but as a free to play early access that only to be expected. There's a huge variety of maps, and the controls are relatively easy to get the hang of.

However, the new update has caused my character to die whenever i get dropped off, meaning only snowboarding works as an option, which is very frustrating as skiing feels more fluid at the moment. Also, the charcter model has completely disappeared (if intentional this really detracts from the game), so my skier has is merely a floating hat and gloves, with no body.

Would I recommend? Yes. its free, so why not? There are many bugs and it's certainly still in early stages, but there is huge potential here, and a finished product could be outstanding.

Leveling up takes Way too long
Stuff is to expensive / you get almost no credits (every 5th level 20 credits, so I need to level 30 levels for the cheapest drone)
The events are too difficult (didn't even get bronze medal for descent, although I was following the ridge in a perfect line)

Honestly, SNOW has to be one of the best games I have played, hands down the best game I have played in the last few years.
The developers are super helpful, quickly responding and solving any question I had in literally under 30 minutes.
I’ve played SNOW since one of the pretty earlier alphas, it has come a long way since then.
SNOW seems to do, everything you could expect, even from hyped up “expectation” videos. Great skiing, amazing cinematic graphics, even small details that, just made the game like a drone you can fly a drone around, getting great cinematic shots of you and your friends, they even have made 2 extra models, one of the DJI Inspire 1.
Old, very old video I made of SNOW:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zujMGMY0HDw

I’d highly recommend trying it out, it’s even free to play now!

The gaem is stunning graphics wise and i like the fact there is real brands it makes the game have some realism. I would like to see more brands in game like climbing makes and kit but the animations for the characters jumping and manovers needs to be worked and i understand its in beta but this game will be a 10/10 in my books if this is fixed well done on a game ive been looking for.

Pretty neat game. Interesting concept and entertaining. Very good game to just chill out with. Given that its Early Access I'm not gonna waste my time doing any sorta long review, but its F2P and only about 4GB so give it a shot, not much to lose.

Ignore the idiots giving tons of negative reviews saying 'controls too complicated dont bother'. They're just idiots. If you've got half a freakin' brain you'll be fine.

Downloaded the game in late february. Played a bit then it was pretty fun, just a kind of silly and buggy ski game but super enjoyable and kinda tense. Decided to play with a friend again today and it's not nearly as enjoyable as 2 months ago.
Now you have to mash W to go forward and movement is more restricted, So you are basically a slug on skis. What i liked was that you could just jump in and ski around at the speed of sound do some silly and maybe cool things. which those things have pretty much halved. I can see some people enjoying the more realistic side but it's not for me and maybe not for you, sorry for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ review

I have never gone skiing in my life, but now after playing SNOW I can confidently say that I could probably do a triple-rodeo off a halfpipe.

It's free and it's fun.

Gameplay

It's hilarious, when you crash your body just flops around as you bathe in your own failure. The skiing is really fun and visceral, and doing tricks for points is very fun albeit conventional. There is no pay to win garbage, everything in the game is available to you and the levelling system is generous. Microtransactions only give you a visual change and do not affect the gameplay. You can do tricks and explore snowy mountains and it's really fun to land risky moves and tricks which is pretty much what the game is about.

It feels a bit incomplete, but it's still in early access and it's free, so the fun trade-off is a no brainer. The controls are a bit wonky, but get easier as you go along. There is multiplayer and ♥♥♥♥ing around on black-diamond mountains is really fun.

Graphics

The game has a very minimal style with a calming soundtrack. It really does feel like it is the 'Forza' of skiing, as the visuals coupled with the white smooth aesthetic of the game really sort of melt together to create something fresh and interesting. The snow in the game actually has prints and you can make trails with your skiis which results in some funny little glitches (like scraping an entire mountain's worth of snow off while you descend sideways, like it's a butter knife).

The ragdoll weight needs some work, and the game is slightly demanding. However, the developers are very consistent with their updates and each time I find it smoother and better looking as I keep playing. Makes me want to go to the mountains again.

When I was a child I used to play some SSX on the PS2 (that Snowboard game). And since then I hoped for a realistic skiing simulator. And now its here! And even if it is in Beta it is already pretty perfect in my opinion. If you get used to the controls there is nothing that can stop you from stomping awesome tricks. The landscape looks awesome and is also very realistic. All in all I rate this game 95/100. Its super chill, super fun and super ... I don't have time to finish this review cause the mountains are calling for me. See ya!

Really, really. Just seriously, so many glitches I encounter, making me not getting to a save point, losing all of my points... This game isn't really something that you spend tons and tons of time on, as you will get frustrated from the glitches. Sometimes when I jump off, my character freezes and cannot do a command except for basic ones like, turning and really nothing else. This could actually be fixed by wiping out, but most of the time as I try, it doesn't happen. Only get this game if you have tolerance for its glitches. I can see that you might be saying; "IT WAS MADE IN OCT 2013!" Well, its 3 years from then, and they should've already fixed them. It is also really hard to level up in the game too, which makes buying new gear and making it easier, requiring for 10s of hours. Only get it if you like to just play around, not going for a highscore or something, as I know a glitch will mess you up. Also, I can see that they have been doing some fixes, but FOR ME it says the last update a month ago FOR ME. And they have pretty close updates too. So really, they probably don't know how to fix what is happening to me (and us) meaning they have a bad team. No offense. I have also heard that in MAY 2016 it still is in BETA after 3 years. I don't see any potential in the game, as other devs work harder than them, releasing the out-of-BETA version out in 3 months to 2 years MAX. Only buy this game if you just do it in your freetime, not to break your friend's highscore, as the glitches will mess you up.

It is impossible to not sound thirteen years old when playing or describing this game. There is no hyperbole too grandiose for the genre-blurring open-world ski-sim experience that is SNOW. I rarely review games, but this one moved me to tell you to play it NOW.
