About This Game

This is a stand alone mod and does not require SDK BASE or any other dependency such as HL2. It will run on it's own.

NEOTOKYO° is a multi-player first person shooter that provides a visceral & realistic combat experience in a rich futuristic setting.

NEOTOKYO° takes place about 30-40 years from now in a Japan that has drifted into social/political strife due to the inevitable stresses that come from changing times. The Japanese government is grappling with intensified external (Asia geopolitics) and internal (economic/social) problems, and there is mounting pressure from within Japan to return to the days when it exerted influence through military power and strength. A failed legislative push to alter the Japanese Constitution (allowing the Japanese military to engage in offensive actions outside of the country) leads to an attempted military coup by members of Japan's armed forces (GSDF). The coup fails, but was very close to succeeding. In an effort to suppress further coup attempts, Japan's Prime Minister forms a branch inside the Interior Ministry's National Security Forces (NSF) called GROUP SIX. They answer directly to the Prime Minister and are sworn to protect the Japanese Constitution at all costs. They immediately begin to hear rumors of a rogue element of the GSDF Special Forces (JINRAI) maneuvering for a second coup attempt. These JINRAI are Special Operations Group 43 (SOG43), fierce nationalist loyal to their love of country, and a desire to put Japan back into a position of strength and power.

This begins the war in the shadows between the NSF and JINRAI.

I was recommended to join in with some friends that enjoyed this game. Wasn't so sure about the game at first but the hot Japanese women on posters made me stay, and I am glad I did. After dyeing repeatedly, distracted by the women in posters, I learned the maps and play style and have really started to enjoy it. Its challenging to get used to but once you get the hang of it its supper easy to get addicted!

I downloaded this game to find out it's another one of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ source mp games, also it copies counterstrike. If you want tactical gameplay say hello to the counterstrike franchise. Thank me later. Also I got banned for racism on the only populated server like wtf what did i do. The upside is that it has better fps and optimization then most of the games in my library.

this game had so much potential. Soundtrack is phenomenal, concept is like non ive seen before(besides maybe mirrors edge I guess?), and plot to the game is very intruiging. Sadly the game is executed very poorly being a mod of the source engine. I feel like this game tried to hard to be like left for dead, gmod, or csgo were is becomes so popular being on source, but it just makes the game slow, muggy and washed out with the many other source mods, which in turn is probably why no one plays it(go ahead and try but you wont find a server with people in it). But do I reccomend this game... yes, yes I do, well atleast I recommend the concept of the game, people dig this ♥♥♥♥, and there a few to no games like it, if there was a revamped or redone version, or even a new neotokyo game, ide be on it right away because a game like this may never be seen again.

Excellent fast paced shooter with a slight learning curve. The playerbase is very small, but when servers have people in them it's a blast to play.

Underrated. Don't let the "Mixed" overall review on Steam fool you.

Neotokyo is a solid shooter with a lot of love put into it. It has a small learning curve but plays like most tacical FPSs such as Counter Strike with some slightly different mechanics.

I started playing this weekend and whilst it may seem dead, I managed to find active servers with a friendly community.

I like how steam says it's a mod, but that completely controdicts it's self when it says "This is a stand alone mod and does not require SDK BASE or any other dependency such as HL2. It will run on it's own."

If you can find a server with people, it's a surprisingly fun game with a surprisingly amazing soundtrack. A better Ghost In The Shell game than the official Ghost In The Shell game.
