Let me first start off with saying that I do enjoy this game, however in its current state of balance I can not in good heart recommend it to someone at its price. The missions range from ridiculously easy, to impossible, I'll explain this more later in the review.
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 follows in the traditional RTS style of games but decides to add a lot more complexity into the mix. From managing the inventory of EVERY SINGLE UNIT down to keeping your tanks fueled and with plenty of ammunition. The game is a good lot of fun, if not hair pullingly difficult. To put it simply, the singleplayer campaign/scenarios are nothing short of suicide on anything above normal.
So the game is fun, but flawed in that aspect, that a mission shouldn't be impossible on the highest difficulty but just difficult. This game sadly doesn't do this. The highest difficulty being Heroic creates an impossible scenario to complete on defense missions for example. Where a motley group of 2 or 3 tanks, at guns, and squads of two man groups of infantry must hold out against an armada of vastly superior tanks.
This was my experience in the Leningrad mission for example, the historical accuracy of these tanks are top notch, they perform like they actually did, and this is a problem for the Soviets seeing as you don't get nearly as many tanks as the Germans in this mission. The end result for me was actually beating it on Hard by the skin of my teeth thanks to some suicidal Russian URAAAAA charges with dynamite in the mix.
The only way to do these missions is with a friend, and I'll be honest, that seems a bit unfair for those who want a challenge. Easy is a guranteed win, Normal is barely a challenge, Hard is nigh impossible, Heroic you're guranteed to fail without a friend.
So some balancing is in some order, wait till you hear some better things about it, because as of now its just not plausible.
