About This Game

Assetto Corsa 1.5 is now available!

New content available
The new version includes Ford Mustang 2015, Corvette Stingray 2015, Abarth 595 EsseEsse in three versions and the new "Black Cat County" scenery available in three different layouts.

A new layout for Vallelunga
Prior to 2005, “Trincea” was the most challenging bend on the Vallelunga circuit before it was modified to host Formula 1 tests. Trincea (“trench”) is a blind high-speed corner that joins the straight after “Ciminis” to the slower section of the circuit. On the real track, in spite of Trincea being permanently closed, the road is still there and it has been captured in our laser-scan point cloud, which is why we decided to give you the thrill this bend was able to offer, bringing the number of layouts available for “our” home circuit up to three.

Sound environment
The 1.5 version brings some interesting updates regarding sounds, an element absolutely relevant to guaranteeing proper immersion and to get you in the car. As we are gaining experience with FMOD, we can take further advantage of its features, while we continue to expand our recordings database. Thanks to our relationship with racing teams and their kind cooperation, we aim to keep improving our recording techniques and the overall product.
We always take into consideration our users’ feedback, so the 1.5 build finally features basic reverb effects along the tracks and the car sounds are differentiated by internal and external cameras. This means that cockpit cameras use internal sounds, while you can hear the powerful intake sound from the bonnet camera or the distinctive exhaust sound from the chase camera. This vastly enhances immersion and realism and gives modders the chance to further enhance their amazing projects.
Additionally, we now provide an in-game app that permits changing sound volumes on the fly, so you are not forced to exit a game session. And that’s not all, since the free cameras now use the same distance attenuation of the track cameras, this is also great news for race broadcasters and video makers.
Not only does the build bring new features, but also many fixes as well, most importantly gear shift and backfires sounds are now shared by the engine volume. Sounds are also an important information to the driver: now you can hear the bottom of the car scraping against the asphalt or any other surfaces.

Graphics
The 1.5 version also takes an important advantage from the strong and direct connection with the porting process of the code to the consoles, and brings improvements and new features in the graphics department. Post-processing filters have been improved, and the improvements also affect how the cars look. The graphics of the internal instruments have been improved, as well as car details, shaders and materials. The new build features two new driving views: an additional exterior view and the “dashcam”, based on the suggestions given by real drivers and simracers.

Tyre model & physics
Starting with tyres; the 1.5 build optimizes the work started with the previous version and brings all the cars to the latest tyre model and tyre features. Tyres have now a more realistic load sensitivity, a variable grip curve after peak, closer performance level between compounds, a brand-new surface and core heating model as well as more realistic heating operation range.

Pitstops
One of the most awaited features for single player is finally here. Pitstop functionalities open Assetto Corsa to endurance racing thanks to the option of refuelling the car and changing tyres, using the compounds available for each single car. The pitstop menu also allows repair to the car body (that affects aerodynamics), suspensions or the engine, with the same functionalities available for multiplayer racing.

Multiplayer & Artificial intelligence
Visible damage has been introduced on opponent cars in Multiplayer races, adding to the immersion of online sessions.
Time progression has also been added to the Multiplayer game mode, meaning that light conditions are no longer static during Multiplayer races, and time progresses the same way it does in Single Player modes. The feature brings an increased level of realism and immersion to online sessions. In addition, general improvements and optimization have also been made to the Multiplayer mode.
As usual, we have not stopped to keep tweaking and improving our artificial intelligence. Significant improvements have been made, more specifically the AI are now more skilled at navigating through traffic and handle racing situations, offering users who prefer single-player modes an increased level of challenge and more realistic racing environment.

Assetto Corsa is probably one of the best, if not THE best circuit racing simulator out there right now. If you have a good wheel and want to feel like you're actually racing exotic racecars on a track, this game is the best one out there.

Pro:
-Great Graphics
-Good Variety of cars
-Mod support
-Great community
-Playing Online
-Physics

Cons:
-Bad AI
-Buggy (Couldn't play single player for a good month because of a bug)
-Not enough content for the price
-Could be better optimized

Best PC sim (that is a non-rally) on the market. Tons (tons) of downloadable cars, skins, and apps that combine to make this the most immersive racing experience you can find to date. Think iRacing without the $1,000 price tag.

The BMW E36 is a compact executive car which was produced by BMW from 1990 to 1999. It was introduced in October 1990 in the 4-door sedan body style. The model range was later expanded to include the coupe, convertible, station wagon ("Touring")!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and hatchback ("Compact") . The BMW E46 replaced the E36 sedans in 1998, however the E36 coupe and station wagon models remained in production until 1999, the convertible models remained in production until 2000 and the hatchback models remained in production until 2001.

+I love this game, from its hotlap based physics to the moddable content. With a 50GB folder of mods, I only have a fraction of the great ones made by the active community. You can do anything from drifting an electric scooter to rallying a VW Polo in this game. The graphics are nice but not over the top. Multiplayer has relatively kind drivers, especially drift lobbies.

-This is not a con of the game, just something to be noted. The graphics, for what they are, aren't perfectly optomized. I know I shouldnt't expect it to run well, but my R9 380 4GB will only run this game at 25 FPS, minumum settings with 3 1080p monitors. I plan on upgrading to a used 390x once AMD's 400 series releases.

Easy mods, the best vehicle physics available on the market, extreme support for peripherals. This game is an all around yes to anyone that really wishes to get their hands on the best car sim possible. It may not have the graphics or sound that Forza or Driveclub present, but the physics in this game are beyond comprehension. If you want realism, go for this. I give it a 10, because despite the lack of a lot of favored cars in the car community, the mods for them are literally as easy to install as inhaling. Great game, get it now.

One of the best, and my personal favourite racing simulator! Assetto Corsa has a good amount of free cars and tracks which all look stunning. There is an insane amount of great mods for this game, and more and more mods are coming out every week.

I recomend having a Racing wheel with this game, I use Logitech G27 and I'm very happy with it!

Alright guys, after almost 20 hours spent on this game i decided to make a review.
This game impressed me pretty much.Game looks stunning and it's moddable. It has huge amount of mods that acctually look pretty good.I know Kunos is small company but they didn't made enough cars.Yes there is DLC but without it game looks poor, thanks God there are modders. And now the biggest issues i heard in reviews about this game:AI!
Yes,AI could have more aggressive aproach and similar, but it isn't that bad. When i read reviews i expected game to be like Gran Turismo, but it's far better. If you put AI to 100% it acctually can give you a little real racing experience. So my conclusion is:This game has some issues but overall it's best game i played.I'd like it to be more like Race WTCC game, better AI,races feel more real and similar but it's nice looking.Best thing is that every car feels different.I use this game to practice for real racing because there is mod for Automotodrom Grobnik located in Rijeka,Croatia and looks pretty real because i'm driving on that track next year with my Honda.I would recommend this game for every car fanatic, racing fanatic or just ordinary gamer.Hope i helped!

* Written a week after the 1.5 update.

Assetto Corsa is, to me, the shell of a perfect racing game, and with more time and money I can see it being a truly incredible product.

The physics, handling, track quality and as such, general racing immersion of AC is a level above other racing titles like Forza, Gran Turismo, or Project Cars. RFactor may offer better physics, I haven't tried it.

AC may be behind some of the above on graphics and AI, and is definitely behind Forza and GT on car and track selection, and the depth of the career mode.

So you have to figure out what you want in a game, due you want fidelity to real life, with accurate simulation of each car, precise aerodynamic and drivetrain calculations and laser scanned tracks, or do you want to be able to drift around corners without sacrificing lap times? Do you want a false sensation of speed, or an accurate introduction to cornering and car weight distribution? Do you want top level AI and reward intensive career progression, or are you happy endlessly lapping empty tracks, looking for slight improvements in your cornering technique.

I much prefer the later, but I don't mean to disparage those who enjoy the former. I've spent my last 30hrs in game lapping one track (Zandvoort in the Netherlands), with one car (the McLaren 650S GT3) and the experience has been hugely enjoyable as I try to approach race car driver speeds (which I'm sure I'm far off, currently only the 5th fastest on RSR for that combination). The feel of laser scanned track through the force feedback is incredible, the handling dynamics superb and the complexity and precision of high-speed racing is endlessly fascinating to me.

If you want to genuinely feel the sensation of racing a well modelled 458, or a McLaren P1, or a GT3 or F1 car through Spa, or the Nurnburgring, this is a near perfect way to do it (short of somehow renting one!)

If you're a fan of driving, buy AC and invest in developing technique. If you're a fan of arcade style multiplayer, or the quick fun of frantic drifting buy something else.

Highly recommended, from someone looking forward to the new car releases in May and June. If they can add some American and Japanese tracks, expand the list of road cars, continue to tinker with the AI, and maybe, eventually, develop a solid career mode, then this will be a perfect racing game.

Assetto Corsa is probably one of the best, if not THE best circuit racing simulator out there right now. If you have a good wheel and want to feel like you're actually racing exotic racecars on a track, this game is the best one out there.

Pro:
-Great Graphics
-Good Variety of cars
-Mod support
-Great community
-Playing Online
-Physics

Cons:
-Bad AI
-Buggy (Couldn't play single player for a good month because of a bug)
-Not enough content for the price
-Could be better optimized

Very realistic racing simulator and decent graphics, but there is not much base content so the game can get boring after a while if you don't get mods.
There is hot lap mode, single player but the ai is terrible so it's better to just race online.

i'd say that this is my #1 favorite racing game on steam. here's why:

Pros:
-Active devs
-Mods
-Beautiful graphics. seriously.
-Pretty good cars that come with the game
-The Dream Packs just add to the fun, notably Dream Pack 1, which adds the Nordschliefe (sorry if this is incorrect spelling)
-Mods.
-Incredibly fun with a wheel
-Many tracks packaged with the game
-A G0DDAMN BUS (nice try, steam censorship.) AS A MOD THAT WORKS WELL!
-Did i mention mods enough? yes? alright. because i can't stress enough how much you need to get mods if you buy the game, it adds to the experience so much
-Runs smoothly on my current setup!

Cons:
-Dead multiplayer.
-Meager AI
-May bore you if you just do hotlaps. don't do that, okay?
-Sounds on some of the stock cars sound par. but you can replace them easily,
-$45 price tag, but negligible to some. (USD. as of me writing this review)
-All these negative reviews. that's right; this is a con.

Notes:
-DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME WITH A KEYBOARD! it's terrible. don't.
-I recommend using a steering wheel. (that is NOT a Thrusmaster T80, because it sucks bad!) you will not regret it,

Recommended Mods, in no order:
(no links, sorry)
Ginetta G55
Mazda 787B
Ferrari 288XX/512-TR
Corvette Stingray ZR-1
Mazda Miata NA
Ferrari F1 Concept (not for casual gamers; this thing is brutal!)
Buick Grand National
Willy's jeep (yes, this is an actual mod)
Orion Vii BUS!
Volvo/Mercedes Formula Truck
Gumpert Apollo
Corvette C6R (fantastic.)
Lake Louise (might be misspelled)
Shuto Expressway C1 (HAS WORKING TUNNELS THT ACTUALLY ECHO SOUNDS, YO!)

feel free to recommend some more.

and another note: this review is half serious, half not, so only take some of the pros & cons seriously.

My story:

I think one of the first things that people ask about this game is do you need a wheel to play it. I can say that no you dont need one to enjoy the game; however, having one brings a whole new level of depth to playing it. I started out playing this game on a keyboard, that's right a keyboard, and there was not a second that i did not enjoy it. Then i switched to a controller and the game got even better. Faster laps, more precision, the game just became a ton of fun.
Recently i was privileged to try the game on a wheel and i can thoroughly say that this game is as authentic as it can get as far as the driving experience in a video game is concerned.

Let's talk about graphics:

Sure this game doesnt have amazing graphics where your wheel is gonna go in a different direction than the car, but that isnt something that you need to notice because after about 2 minutes in a car you are immersed in how your car handles and how fast you need to take the next corner. Also when you're going by the trees at lets say 250kmh there really isnt time to look at them :P
As far as the tracks are concerned they are phenomenal, lazer scanning is such a huge plus and they're going back to update some of the original tracks.

DLC:

Sure it's a little extra but its so worth it. All three of the dream packs are stunning and they give free content along with the update, and i dont really know of any other company that gives anything away for free.

Mods:

There are countless mods for this game and although not all of them are the best there are some REALLY good ones out there that are on par with Kunos' content.

Multiplayer:

People complain about the AI a lot, but let's be honest if you're racing the AI you shouldnt even buy this game. This game was built for an online experience and with over 800 servers up 24/7 there is always one that you can find with tons of people, or you can find an empty one for you and your friends to race on. It's also very easy to host your own server from your computer, the game comes with the files to make managing what content you want on it so easy. Theres always a server for whatever mood youre in.

THERE ARE SERVERS WITH DRIVER RANKINGS SO YOU DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH TROLLS
I say that in caps because a lot of people complain about that, but it really isnt an issue. Those people are just butthurt.

I 100% recommend this game, it's a whole lot of fun even if you dont have a wheel. A controller at least is a good point to start with. A keyboard is doable but it takes a lot of time and finger cramping. Hope this was helpful :D

Disappointing - So near, yet so far.

Circuit layouts are nice due to laser scanning and nice graphics, but the events are lacking in the "spirit" or "vibe" that Virtua LM, for instance, creates in their tracks. There are also some nice tracks made by modders.

Cars are basically well done with nice FFB, but are lacking in suspension and tire modelling/simulation. There are very fine mods available.

AI is very poorly executed (braking mid-corner, sometimes moving aside rather than defending, sometimes wreckless, especially re-entering from an off). Multiplayer can be a mess.

There are too many racing elements not available for this to be called a racing simulator (rolling starts, safety car, weather and nighttime for endurance racing, road rubbering, offline pitstops,etc.).

This can be a good start if Kunos will make improving the elemental aspects of the software their priority.

I tried all simulators on the market except for the iRacing. Assetto Corsa is my pick without a doubt the physics/tire model/handling, graphics, and amazing content makes it best simulator on the open market. The 1.5 update show's how beautiful the game is going further and further. The only aspect which is drastic problem for the game and would change it 360 degree is online racing system, things like better flags, more realistic/playable penalties and also small staff like rolling start and let say pit-stop drive penaltie for crash, this would make Assetto Corsa online experience as close to perfectness as possible which is my dream.

Great driving sim with very decent physics and FFB with decent DLC options.

Extremely toxic community though.
I got bashed by a bunch of twelvies because I don't like the fact that the DPAD of a supported wheel isn't working. (♥♥♥♥ me, right?)

This game has a bunch of decent cars, classic and modern ones though I find the amount of tracks a little lacking. But they're laser scanned so that's pretty cool.

You can download plenty of mods (cars and tracks) and cool apps to enhance your HUD in useful ways. The DLC is definitely worth checking out, too.

Good wheel recommended.
