I bought this game for $2 thinking it was at least worth a try after watching some videos on youtube about it, as it seemed very good. I can say that it sets the story very well, and I found the characters interesting (though for some it might not be). However, as a new player to Dragon Commander, I found it very hard to play with almost to nothing tutorials. The only tutorials they really have is a pop-up screen (for the conquest part) and videos for the RTS component.

For those looking for a similar RTS style I would say that it would be close to Dawn of War, except you are limited to the number of buildings you have. But by far the worst part of this game is it's tutorial for the RTS. All they did was put a video in, watch the video (you had to click on it instead of it coming up before the battle) and send you on your way. The videos didn't even explain much. There wasn't even like an easy RTS mission to set you up so that you can get familiar with the style, it just throws you right in. Also I have no idea how the cards work.

It's a shame that I am not interested in playing this game anymore because some elements of it seem really well put but they just went lazy on some parts that wouldn't exactly help a new player to the game.

Plus: Fun mix of multiple genres. Also you get to play as a dragon with a jetpack!

Minus: The individual parts aren't all that great. If you're expecting a great RTS for example you won't get it here.

It's an fairly simple RTS that has political decisions you can make that help affect the realm outside of combat, research to upgrade your dragon or army, etc. Also, you play as a dragon. With a jetpack. And can jump into the RTS battle at virtually any time to shoot fireballs. 'Nough said.

Good game only 3 types of dragons you can be lots and lots of laws to pass which is nice you even get a wife and how you interact with her will change how she act's later on you will never make all the race's happy now about some of the game play its like a 4x game meets command and conquer so fun all around

一款挺有趣的游戏,你对它的喜爱度会和你对它的期望度成反比。

《神界:飞龙指挥官》是一个多种类型游戏的混合体,在这里你能玩到回合制战棋,即时战略,动作射击,内政管理和卡牌等内容。
接下来我就分别描述一下这些不同类型元素在游戏里的表现。

1.回合制战棋部分:就是大地图上的战略部署,你能做的就是建设每块领地上的功能性建筑,生产和调度军队,以及托管给NPC将军们的自动战斗。唯一的资源就是金钱,每块领地上也只能造一种建筑,所以非常简单。


2.即时战略部分:就是手动进行战斗的部分,没有资源采集,类似于战锤40K的占点式玩法,建筑只能造在地图上为数不多的固定地基里。兵种挺多的,还分海陆空三军,也有特殊技能,不过我觉得没啥卵用,具体原因见下文。


3.动作射击部分:主角作为抓根宝龙裔,可以在即时战略的战斗中变身为飞龙用各种特殊能力协助你的部队取得胜利主宰站场。变成飞龙以后就变成了第三人称的飞行射击游戏,wasd控制飞行方向,鼠标瞄准射击,数字键释放技能。由于飞龙的能力实在是太强大,以至于当我升级了攻击力防御力和吸血技能后一个人就能单挑电脑所有部队拆光所有建筑,完全不需要用到我方部队那些渣渣炮灰。


4.内政管理部分:在大地图推演和小地图即时战斗之余的时间,你都在一艘名叫乌鸦号的指挥飞艇上处理精灵、矮人、蜥蜴人、亡灵、地精五大种族议员和人类将军们的嘴炮互喷,要决定各项政策是否实施,当然你也可以偷懒完全不管他们,让他们自己投票解决去,立显民主的优越性。
除此之外你还可以用研究点数购买兵种升级(毫无卵用)和飞龙的技能(正确用法)。
哦对了还可以在4个种族的公主中选择一位美女成为你的皇后:其中有符合大部分人审美的精灵公主,丰满实用的波霸矮人公主,关了灯还凑合的蜥蜴人阿凡达公主,开着探照灯也找不到洞(or哪都能插)的亡灵骷髅公主。为什么没有地精公主?因为她在玩“雷管螺栓藏在哪”的游戏中game over了。
老婆娶回来也不只是看看的,关键还得能用。你可以按照你的喜好调教她,我的精灵妹就被我调教成了一个爱慕虚荣的酒鬼,然后貌似根据你的调教方式,她会给你各种资源奖励或卡牌奖励。


5.卡牌部分:你的每个领地上的不同建筑能生产各类卡牌,你也可以通过和议员将军搞好关系或实施不同政策来获取卡牌。卡牌大致分为战略和战斗两种用处,战略卡牌在回合制战棋环节使用,可以让自己的领地获得增益或对敌方的领地造成破坏,战斗卡牌则是在即时战略的准备阶段使用,可以在接下来的战斗中增强己方单位能力,或削弱敌方单位的能力,以及招募雇佣兵单位等。


这五大部分就游戏内容而言都比较简单,没有什么可深度挖掘的潜力,但是这些元素整合到一起之后的游戏性还是不错的。
至于游戏画面,即时战略和动作射击部分都很一般,勉强及格的水准。内政管理部分则比较惊艳,各种人物和环境的建模都很漂亮。回合制战棋和卡牌部分的画面不过不失。整体来说画面表现属于中等水准,蒸汽朋克风格有小小加分。
音乐方面,虽然没有特别出彩的曲子,但大量运用钢琴配乐与蒸汽朋克的世界观搭配完美,还是要给一个赞的。


总的来说这是个很休闲的游戏,如果你对某一方面的游戏内容期待值过高,恐怕它并不能满足你的要求。如果你只是像我这样随便玩玩,也许会感受到和其他游戏不一样的乐趣。

开始感觉像是rts类型的游戏,画面和流畅度比卡拉克沙漠稍差一些,但是后来按R键化身为龙那一刻才是游戏的核心部分,不像传统的星际争霸战争黎明那样只是控制各种兵种 各个小部队,而是自己鼠标可以化身为龙,开着上帝视角,指针化为准星,活脱脱变成一款飞行射击游戏~果然是龙之指挥官,最重要一点是汉化补丁居然可用,不影响成就

It's essentially single player only, as Multiplayer's completely dead, and there's no modding/custom maps or anything. Single player's pretty entertaining though. It's essentially a politics simulator that makes you choose between every single controversial issue you can think of, sprinkled with some drama (a waifu simulator). Oh and there's this part where you conquer the world. I guess there's also the RTS part, but you can pretty much skip it if you want (even though I guess it's meant to be half of the game).
This is a beautiful game, decent sound track and entertaining story dragged down by what appears to be budget issues (a lot of the stuff that was meant to be in the game was cut). I recommend it for a playthrough or two, but that's about it. Shame, because this game had a lot of potential. Get it on sale if you want to get it, as €40 for 10 hours of campaign at most (I stalled to see more political choices basically) without multiplayer is even worse pricing than CoD at this point.

Following on from the excellent RPG "Ego Draconis" (get it if you haven't), this is a change of direction for the Divinity bulldozer, and probably a disappointment for anyone (like me) who enjoyed the RPGs. Takes a bit of reorientation to pick this one up, and if set to easy/casual mode it's just a walkover. Some difficulties with certain mice using the centre button/wheel as this just doesn't click in. Otherwise an interesting strategy game, whose continuing appeal is in the voice-overs. A great many games like this out there, and while this is a good game, hard to see it has anything above any of the rest. And there really are a lot of them if you look!

Divinity: Dragon Commander is both memorable and all around enjoyable. Great charecters, decent story and a well done RTS system. Now there are some issues and flaws, but the overall package you get is worth the pick up espcially when the price drops down and I hope to see a possible sequel in the future.

yeah, so i may not have to many hours on this game but please trust me when i say this; if you have a friend who is very good at rts games and he buys this for you or asks you to buy it; DO NOT under any circumstances play this game with them or even think of it for that matter. concider yourself warned. otherwise alright game, go rts

First, this game has simply awesome kick a** music that is IMHO one the best soundtracks to a video game ever developed (surpassed only by a few other exceptional titles). Most of the time real time battles involve zerg rush tactics (or much more deeper hold and advance tactics if you can unbalance the AI) such battles are also inherently optional especially if you can collect the necessary amount of cards. The strategic over world (campaign map) battles involve the mentioned card gimmick and are obtained either via the decisions you make and/or (primarily) through buildings that you can build in the overworld (campaign) map, such buildings cost gold however and multiple buildings of the same type can quickly become quite expensive which I guess is itself a tactical choice as you can never hoard a large amount of gold.

Finally the game has awesome face to face NPC interactions that often revolve around real world issues and such issues are almost always presented as a comical parody. Simply put this is one of the best games ever made.

Best Game in History. Combines my favorite game style and themes all in one. Risk style map strategy, Political Decisions that actually matter, marriage, RTS battles handled by you or your generals, and lets not forget the most important detail..You turn into a flippin dragon and roast your enemy to ashes! Also offers good challenge level, not too easy, yet not too hard. What are you waiting for?! BUY IT!

大地图界面是策略游戏,局部战斗是即时战略。
战斗部分中规中矩,典型的RTS,战斗时可以变成龙亲自上去打。(此处为避免歧义说明一下:是变成dragon,不是Jackie Chan)
龙有三种:灵活龙,暴力龙,支援龙。
我选了样子最好看的那种。

剧情分三段:
1.击败一个王位竞争者。
2.干掉包括你同父异母的哥哥姐姐在内的3个竞争者。
3.干掉大恶魔。
总之剧情没啥好说的。

内政系统相当搞笑。
几位大臣各自代表不同种族,经常会提出建议,而你采纳与否会影响各种族对你的好感度。按理说这样会使玩家根据各位大臣的态度进行决策。
可是,游戏有这样一个设定:如果你什么都不说,那么大臣们就会依照少数服从多数的原则自己去决定......我靠,那我还表个P态啊,你们自己民主决策就好啦,主角打江山很忙的。。。。
所以当从不参与内政的我通关时,各种族好感度要么是满格,要么是接近满格。

当然,在重要问题上我还是会表态的,比如选择王后。
矮胖圆、阿凡达、骷髅女、精灵妹。
单从外貌来看估计正常人都会娶精灵妹,但我选了骷髅女,原因我就不说了。

总结:
这是一款融合了多种要素的游戏,剧情稍弱,游戏性还不错,个人倾向于推荐。

I don't like this game at all, the story is boring and there is not much RPG, mostly just lacklustre RTS and some cards as well.
The game tries to be too many different things and doesn't succeed at being good at any of them.

I know I did not play this game very long, but the amount of time I did play I did not like it at all. I don't waste my time playing games I don't like.

It's very good, if you lower your expectation on RTS part completely.

The game is mainly divided into 3 parts. The mass effect-esq hub part where you make decisions on issues and politics, movement phase like RISK where you move your units and produce buildings, and battle phase that you either auto-resolve it or you take part on it as RTS. The game overall is very enjoyable and the effort the developers put into the game is definitely shining in most parts.

The comments during the hub section are interesting, as all the characters in the game possesses certain kind of extremism that you have to decide upon. For the races, each races possesses certain characteristics. Undeads have religious zeal, Dwarves have tendency on mercantilism, elves are eco-liberals and traditionalists, lizards are secular and democratic, and imps tend to be technocratic and overall whacky. Generals are the same too. You have Edmund, the egotistical genius, Henry, your typical hot-head lone wolf, Catherine, a radical feminist, and Scarlett, whose sorta there (She does participate in the conflict, but never a center of it). The most intersting part is the decision making. Based on your political and religious belief, you have to shape the empire yourself. And these have real consequence on battlefield too. The racial relations based on these decisions add certain emotional investment too.

I won't spoil much, but I did enjoy these decision makings and exploring story arc very much, and I consider this was the best part of the game.

RISK style management is not too bad, but not too good either. It's rather generic and feels like it's tacked on. So not much positive or negative from that.

However, the RTS..it's heaping mess. Unit balance is awful, as the units tend to group together resulting in later game those who secure most AoE units to be the most successful. Further more the excessive requirement for "micromanagement" just makes the game even more generic and makes the defend-and-snowball tactics too be uniformly the best. Dragons are not much help either. You are simply too powerful and the cost of you spawning is too cheap. As a result, almost every game is you trapping AI to funnel in it's unit into your position, demolish them using either healing ability of your dragon or directly assisting the attack, and snowball afterwards.

So if you expect a RTS game, no this is not for you. This is more like good politically active (since there's no really right or wrong answers except for few instances) visual novel with tacked on RTS game.

So there you have my review. If you like mass effect style decision making and meeting interesting character, by all means this game is great. If you are into good RTS? I'd stay with DoW series, Total War series, Homeworld series, and many others that are way more worthy than this game.

It's different. It's fun.

Strategy, diplomacy, and ♥♥♥♥ing dragons.

I'm a cult follower of the Divinity series and I've never looked back or been disappointed.

lots of fun just don't do the rts that was not done well. let your armys do the fighting for you. loved the decisions i could make turn to turn.

I purchased this game on sale for 6 dollars, but even so I cannot recommend it. I feel like this game doesn't know what it wants to be.

The voice acting is great and really makes you think you're in a well written rpg. The strategy element is somewhat lacking, and the battles are quite similar from the early game even into the final stages of the game. Dragon Commander tried to tie in both RTS and RPG elements, but in doing so fell short of being a good RTS or a good RPG.

For $40 this game should have been better. You can beat the main campaign in about 7 hours and feel no need to go back to it at all. I purchased it for $6 and still don't recommend it. I know that sounds harsh, but this game really let me down.

Also.
- The game will crash on you in battles. In order to fix this you must lower your settings to minimum even if your graphics card can run the game on max settings. Also, you must download the 2 files listed ont he dev's discussion post. If you do these two things the game runs fine. I just don't like that I have a modern gaming PC and I need to do all of this extra stuff just to get the game to work.

While I do love a good many things about this game, it has some rather glaring flaws. The look of this game is excellent, the characters are interesting, and the mixture of rpg and turn-based strategy elements blend nicely in many regards. That's where my compliments end.

First off this game does not seem to have a pause button of any sort (Keyboard, game ui, nothing) when you are fighting the actual battles. The controls in dragon form are also rather weird in my opinion. Your dragon alos doesn't really play as big of a role in battle as one would thing. While it can help turn the tide in some cases, you are often better building regular units and dumping research into them instead of your dragon. I get this as a balance, but I expected something a bit more impressive considering it's one of the main focuses for the game.

Sadly, the combat is also a bit boring after awhile. You see it less as a battle of two or more armies and more as a battle between blobs. Often your best bet is to just bull rush your enemy and kill his small initial force if possible or turtle until they can no longer rebuild units. As a rts game, I have to say that is sucks. Which is sad since that makes up most of the game. If you can get past that, then feel free to try it.

First the good.
1)This is a pretty interesting RTS. The end.
2) I bought it on sale and only paid a bit over $5

Now the bad.
1)For a game called Dragon Commander the "dragon" play seems mostly like an afterthought. You are basically just an airborne hovering turret that can cast buffs and debuffs on units. This is admittedly part of what makes the RTS side interesting but a dragon flight simulator this is not. No dog fights, no barrel rolls. Most of the game can be played without ever becoming a dragon.

2) The political and social side of this game is PAINFULL if you are anything other than a liberal progressive. There is no balance to the gameplay here and the developers biases bleed all over this aspect of the game. As a free-market libertarian the only time I didn't ♥♥♥♥ everyone off was with my support of gay rights. At the very least there should be an option to disable this aspect of the game and play it as a pure RTS.

I have a love hate relationship with this game. When I am on the strategic map or in combat I love it. When I'm on the Raven I hate it. Over all though I cannot recommend this game as I can't see myself enduring too many more hours of ideological pedagogy from the uber-left. Too bad this game has real promise in the RTS department.

Divinity: Dragon Commander is partly an opportunity wasted. On one side is a rich strategic elements to consider, in an interesting setting, and chock full of original ideas. On the other hand though his simplistic gameplay during battles, poor game balancing in the individual, and the inability of developers to deepen certain inspired as the mechanical use of the cards or the Dragon in battle, lower the overall quality of the game to "just as good". Although a bit disappointed, we cannot not make compliments to Larian for originality, and hope they can exploit their talents equally distinctive projects in the future. The basics are there, and they look very solid.

Waited ages for the price of this game to come down, been keeping my eye on it for months because it looked like a really great game. It's basically 3 mini games in one, you have the risk style battle map, the animated and voiced interactions with your retinue onboard your flagship, which is meant to serve as the political/diplomacy portion. And then ofcourse the actual meat and potatoes of the game, the RTS style gameplay.

1)Strategy map.
Way too simplistic, felt very empty and lacked purpose. AI moves were predictable. I don't like the card system either, for example there is a card to commit genocide in a region of your choice. It just feels all too easy, would of been better to have raider units, which you must create and then transport to the region. But no, you just plonk down a card and suddenly the job is done.

2)Ship interactions (household and military retinue)
Fully voiced and looks ok. But feels more like a slide show presentation sometimes, for example, you could be talking to one of your aids, then pick one of the limited dialog options and your aid will suddenly change stance or move location slighty instead of it being a seamless animation, it feels each bit was stiched together haphazardly.

3)RTS battle game
Probably the bit I was looking forward to the most, and the bit that disapointed me the most. The UI is clunky and way too large, it obstructs a large part of the screen. The actual fights are super easy, once you get to grips with buildings and managing your recruits, it very quickly becomes a snore fest. And the novelty of being a dragon in battle wears off after the first 5 minutes when you come to realise that being a dragon just made the game even easier.

It might be worth playing for the story, if you like that sort of thing. But if you're looking for a totalwar style game with dragons, then this is probably going to leave you with buyer's remorse.

This game could have been far better. First time I was in a battle with my dragon I failed. Horribly.
I wasn't given a chance to ease into combat. I was thrown into the combat situation and no explanation what stuff did. The game didn't show, explain or make me understand what was going on.

I did enjoy the RPG elements. The goblin where I could upgrade units. The magician to upgrade the dragon. The council to make decisions and the politics. Where one commander didn't like you and changed his mind after a few battles. Stuff like that great. But other than that the game was not for me.

I would have enjoyed to have a more strategic way of fighting. Would be cool if each zone needed to be taken over by creating a base rather than just killing off the enemies with some RNG mechanic. I didn't like the game much at all combat wise which is the main part of the game. Thus I won't recommend it. Flying the dragon was awesome, but everything else was not.

If you like RNG (Random Number Generation) games, RPG ish and politics, maybe this game is for you.

Great voice acting, interesting story and unlike a few others I really enjoy the combat system.
It requires tactics and yes, you can use transportation units to win most battles quickly, but in the end it is you to choose whether you use these or no. If you think those units ruin the game for you, don't use them.
I really enjoy the game and I certainly recommend it!

You're a general who can turn into a dragon - how is this not amazing? Sadly by doing so in a fairly rubbish 'tactical' mini game that serves as a Zerg rush simulator and little else - which is positively criminal given how beautiful the strategic game can be and how utterly glorious the princesses and the councillors are. I just wish a little of the obvious love spent on them had been invested in the actual tactical side of things.

A Political game of relevance and fun, shame the strategy part is rather lacking. it was fun, i keep playing to the very end. smiling with glee for the laws i lay and the choices i made. and its consequences.

Come for the story and the well treated politicla argues with dipolmats and generals. trip over the combat.... (well Not the BEING A FREAKING DRAGON part......that was really.....AWESOME:D)

A mix of Real-Time Strategy, Round Based Strategy, political simulator, Card Game and overall RPG.

There are some simple things wrong with this, for instance I think there should be more difference between the factions.

Still I really love this game, I played through the fully voiced Story Mode in 2 sittings and am now looking for one of my mates to keep up so we can start a campaign with them.

Highly recommended if you like games with more than one genre, the focus however is strategy here.

A hodge podge of strategy games that feels oh so very right. I enjoy the way they mesh together, and nothing feels better than turning the tides of a RTS battle that you had only 1% chance to win by turning into a dragon with a jetpack, and leveling all the non anti-air units. The strategy elements aren't hard to figure out for anyone who's played any type of RTS, and is a great game to lose some time in.

The politics of this game contribute by enhancing or hampering your controlled territories by the decisions you make, plus there are factions you can either appease or essentially treat like a tiny bug by crushing their hopes of every being significant.

All the characters are interesting, and you have the ability to marry someone from each of the factions, including a lizard, a dwarf, and skeleton. I never found myself wishing for different scenarios in the game outside of the ability of diplomacy which is my only real gripe with an otherwise fantstic game.
