One Sentence Summary:
A finely balanced blend of action and tower defense with surprising depth, excellent music, and plenty of charm to go around.

Pros:
+ Blend of action via controllable character and tower defense strategy is nicely implemented
+ Easy to learn and can be played in short 30 minute sessions
+ Difficult to master and has 100+ hours of depth for completionists via unique challenges
+ Great minimalist electronic IDM soundtrack
+ Calm atmosphere helps me chill out while playing this game
+ Has 2 Player co-op and is a good couples game

Cons:
- People used to standard touch or mouse controlled tower defense games might be put off by action element
- Trying to "gold rainbow" some of the more difficult levels might cause lesser mortals to rage quit

Notes:
~ This was originally a PS3 game that was ported with additional content to PC, but it is a solid port.
~ Do not use the mouse to play this game. It is best played with a controller or keyboard only.
~ One subtle thing they messed up during the port? The trees no longer shake when the stompy gold boss is near.

As a big fan of Tower Defense, this is my absolute favorite. It has the most natural learning curve, and the end levels are probably some of the hardest in the genre. The game truly shines in coop, however even in single player you often take just one more go to perfect the level. Scoreboards also make you want to go beyond just finishing the level flawlessly, and instead you try to make it through the level using only the necessary resources (as you are scored based on resources left).

In summation, this game is all about speed, planning ahead, and spending resources wisely. And it's oh so fun!

Don't let my played time fool you. I've played this game mostly on PS3 and PS Vita, where I can estimate around 100 hours played. Also, don't listen to most of the negative reviews here. It seems they have only played the first couple of levels, which are basically training levels.

My experience with the game:
For me this is one of the best tower defense games ever made.
I used to play it on PS3 (Encore version) and often co-op with friends and family.
Got it on sale for Steam for a price of 1.19€ which is a steal.

About the game:
Trial and error tower defense game where you need to think ahead, and strategically plan your defense.
The game appeals to casual players and hardcore tower defense fans alike.

The good:
- Fluid relaxing gameplay, nice graphics, zen music, awesome towers, playable character.
- Most of the levels has it's own gameplay feel to it.
- Buy, place, upgrade and sell towers in order to match incoming attacks.
- Can be hard and a bit frustrating, but at a level where you just want to do better the next playthrough.
- In co-op you can actually plan and work together. It's fun.
- Good replay value.

The bad:
- It doesn't have a map/level editor or Steam workshop.

Verdict:
If you like tower defense games, even just strategy games, I can only recommend it.
It is worth it's original price. 9,5/10.
