This is a challenging platformer with some of the best music I've heard in a game since things like 'Sword and Sworcery EP' and 'Fez'. The music itself as well as some of the visuals are quite reminiscent of 'Fez' although they are very different games.
When you first open the game, you are treated to the music straight away. There is no menu or text, other than the large '140' in the middle of the screen. Upon pressing any button you are thrust into the game itself, still with no instructions. This isn't a game for those new to the platforming genre, but those who have played the simplest flash game will easily be able to understand what to do.
Each level of the game has it's own music to match the obstacles present there. You will need the music on, as all the obstacles are synced up to the beat and mastering the rhythms can mean the difference between life and death. At the end of each level there is a boss, it will challenge the skills you have learnt through the level leading up to it. These bosses aren't the typical 'fights' you may be used to from other games, but I find them to be fairer and more challenging than most.
I absolutely adore the visual style of the game and the way it matches the music so well. The simplest touches can effect the game massively and when you first play it can be overwhelming, especially when you die. The patterns in the background that seemingly dance to the music fit the rest of the levels perfectly and aren't distracting or annoying, even when you are stuck on a particularly difficult section.
Overall this is one of the best platformers I have ever played, the controls are extremely responsive and I never felt like I died because it was the game's fault. For the price there is the perfect amount of content in my opinion. With just enough challenge and variety to give you a few hours of gameplay, and even more if you want all the achievements.
I would give '140' 5 stars, 10/10, 8/8 or whatever rating system you prefer, I love it. I will certainly be buying the soundtrack and I hope a sequel will be made one day. Great game!
