GunZ 2 is open in Europe now!

Greetings all,

After the long downtime, we're opening GunZ 2 in Europe again.
We apologize to all EU fans for such a long downtime. The licensing agreement with Prosieben had come to an end, and we opened Steam server for EU fans as of this week. We still need to finish up optimizing game servers to host players from EU regions, but we believe that the game service will be stabilized and improved with the new EU players soon.

As a person who never got to play the Original GunZ, I was fortunate enough to enter this game with a sort of "free-slate" so to speak towards the massive dissapointment that most of the GunZ: The Duel players had.

However, because of this unbiased-ness I'm also able to clearly evaluate what's lacking, and in what areas. So here it goes:

I find that the tutorial to this game is clunky, for starters. They teach you basic manuevers (sure) and then don't bother to explain some of the more finer aspects of the game (like juggling, guard-breaks, parry's) and overall "Mobility" lessons that are quintessential to gameplay.

Right from the get-go you're confused though, as you're presented with three characters, with all their own different types of play styles.

A Sniper (Who most people go for stupidly, and I myself fell for this trap)
A Gunslinger (Balance between Offensive and Mobility)
A Shield-Trooper (Heavy-Offense, Super-Defense)

However, what it doesn't tell you is which one is geared towards beginners, and which one is geared towards advanced players. Take if from me when I say the Shield-Trooper is the best first choice, for both campaign and beginner's in general.

So now you're in the game, and you're excited. You load up a Co-Op game and figure: "Awesome! This is going to be so much fun."

Three minutes passes, and when you decided to stupidly try to go in for meelee kills, you were facerolled by enemies whose AI are set to "Easy Mode" And you're left scratching your head in mystery. "Whatever" you say, and use one of your tokens.

What you fail to realize is that your tokens are impermanent, and suddenly you find yourself penny pinching them for those last-minute saves. Meanwhile, your teamates (who are either higher skill cap and alive, or dead and furious at you, screaming for a "revive pls" every two seconds) are equally getting frustrated by the game, and with you and eventually quit.

Okay, so you figure that the campaign mode is merely bugged, and will get better with time, right?
No.

So you give up on Campaign and go to versus mode, where you're excited to play against other players. You begin searching for a match...and then you search some more....and then you search some more.....and then you search some more.... and then you search some more.... until -finally- you get into a match.

Oh how wondrous! You finally made it into a match, and you're fairly certain that you'll be ju~
-BOOM-

You. are. dead.

"WTF!?" you yell in annoyance, as you check what killed you. Turns out a guy whose ping is skyrocket, and is also the host, happens to be pretty much lag-owning everybody in the room. You suddenly find yourself unable to land clean hits, and you begin doing "Lag Compensation" shots.

You make last place, and throw your hands up in defeat.

Needless to say: I'm coming to this game as an old fan of S4 League, where I was God-Like in terms of skill. Coming here? Doesn't matter. I can't hit a target that literally phases through my bullets, or doesn't feel the effects until seconds later. Melee combat is a joke as well, and overall this game feels horribly clunky and bad.

There's a reason I uninstalled it.

Id rather the original game... this one isn't terrible, but is in no what way comparison to the gameplay to be expected from the community. Steam should pick up the Gunz The Duel. (first one) and carry it run some servers...bet it does better than this game.

By playing the first GunZ: The Duel some years ago for many hours, this looks like a seatback from the previous game and it's horrible for a modern game.
The interface is ugly, VERY ugly and not intuitive. Characters are very strange and with absurdly poor modeling.
Then I tried to ignore those facts and ended up very frustrated with the combat. The game does not run smoothly, camera is weird and seems like they made it harder to control.
Does not seem like a modern action game, does not feel like one. Don't know if my judgement grew better or they really messed this up. I think even the characters classes are worse now.

At least it's free to play, but you may waste your time or get frustrated with your own nostalgia.

I first tried GunZ The Duel September 28th 2005, it was a game the redefined online gaming for me as a competitive fast paced shooter that I absolutely fell in love with, I would stay up for days and literally binge on this game there were days when I would press close to a million keys playing it for 12 hours in a single day.

Almost a decade later and MAIET has shoveled this garbage at our feet, I was truly hoping for GunZ The Duel remastered, Steam was their chance to take their original game make it look fancier and release a more polished version of what they already had. MAIET let me down with this game, playing a few rounds I could tell that this was awful. They already had a game that people loved, and it was their chance to show it to mainstream gamers, well you ♥♥♥♥ing failed MAIET.

Takes forever to queue. And the public matches are horribly imbalanced. There are 2 hour newbies on teams against lvl 20 pro players. Not only are you waiting a long time to get a match, but when you are put in a game, it's a 5 minute waste of your time since the match is so obviously stacked most times. Rarely are there any good fights.

Oh, immortal GunZ, how we missed you! Wait, you changed... WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?

After long years waiting, we finally have the second iteration of "GunZ: The Duel" on our hands, and it's bitter sweet. On one hand, it bring us that K-Style, fast-paced pump action that we all knew and loved and the ever so memorable maps! But there are too many "deviations" from the original that keep this game on its predecessor's shadow: gone is the free-reign customization you had with your character, opting now to offer you only classes with very limited customizable options.

The addition of special moves, like a Hurricane Kick and a Deathslash are cool concepts on paper, but take A LOT out of the skill based game that was GunZ. Who likes to be one-shot with an uninterruptible special move from behind? Only with Headshots, the most sublime art in GunZ, do I condone one-hit deaths.

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON MATCHMAKING! WHAT MATCHMAKING?
"Are you new to the game? Are you an old veteran of the original game, but have already forgot how to play the game? Here, go play with level 20 characters that kill you with three hits from a sword-cancel Butterfly and reload shot."

All in all, it's a great game. If it was a totally new experience, or If you never had the luck to touch the original GunZ, I would recommend this game. But with the memory of the original still imprinted in my mind, I find it lackluster, and do not recommend it for the OG GunZ player.

This game will be a disapointment to GunZ 1 players who are expecting it to be like the original. Maiet should have put GunZ 1 on Steam, instead of this game, or just upgraded the graphics on GunZ 1. The game currently suffers from low player participation with less than 400 players online at any time. The game lacks a deathmatch mode, though it does have a team deathmatch mode.

I used to play the original Gunz-the First Duel. Those were fun days, until hackers started to ruin the fun for everyone else. Anyway, GunZ 2: The Second Duel is not a complete substitute for the original, but it still has the core elements. I do love the fact that the sniper rifles actually work with scope and everything. And characters are customizeable "to a point." I use these terms lightly. Due to the introduction of character classes, you are limited to buying weapons only ment for your character class. You can still customize how your character looks with clothes (which don't help your overall stats, you just buy them to look cooler) and if your feeling up to drop some green, you can use store credit to buy some more of the fashionable accessories, like hats and such. Now, as for the gameplay itself, you can set up private servers for yourself and take on the npcs in the storyline (which I recommend because I don't get decent connection). Or you can set up a public server and and invite people to join you. And of course, you can go into other rooms and fight people in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Gladiadtor, ect. And as for the players themselves, I've noticed not much has changed. Many people are still trolls, or they just feel the need to belittle others just to make themselves feel beter. When this happens, I just exit out of the main chat and just set up my own private server and go do some solo killing. That being said, I give this game a 6/10. It's still fun to play, especially if you remember the good old days of the original Gunz game. And like any other sequal, it has it's own pros and cons. But if your looking for a decent shooting game, look no further then here.

It's worth the download, but suffers from a very low population right now, especially PvE.

Each character is a different class that has a series of weapons and special moves specific to them. You get your first character free, but since you DON'T get to try them before you buy them, you'll have to do some research or just hope you get lucky with your first choice. You can purchase the other characters with in-game currency. Extra items all appear to have durability and would require repair of some kind, likely a reduced in-game currency price.

Overall gameplay is similar to the first game, wall running and a mix of gunplay and melee. The campaign mode is fun enough but too difficult to take on alone with the characters I had access to.

One of the different FPS games, focusing as much on melee as range, and heavy emphasis on speedy play and counterplay.

The single player is pretty easy, the multiplayer has few to no problems, the maps are generally fair and interesting.

8.5/10

I like this game pretty much because of how the graphics improved over from GunZ.

Graphics: Not too intensive for gameplay, and it's pretty nice to look at the characters.
Gameplay: Really fast-paced. I mean it.
Multiplayer: Matchmaking may sometimes take a long time, so there's a con to it.
Weapons: I would say there's not too much variety with weapons. There's not that many in the stores.

Overall: Good game, 7.5/10 IGN

Im Sorry I thought only Movies got bad if made into sequals . Gunz2 is less than half the game the original was.
I stopped playing Xteel to play the Original Gunz one of the first shooters to actually include wallrunning and dashing all over.(without it being in robots mind you) I spent money on it even tho it was free to play it was great... it had bin a while since i played when i saw the adds for gunz2 my heart beat in anticipation and the download could take any longer. when it finally started iwas astonished what fresh piece of Explitive Deleted was this its bin fed to much crayon and rainbows or a complete lack of soul a badly colored cartoon no its watching the guy cook your food and call 5 second rule with your steak after he drops it on the floor

When this game first came out it was amazing, but then unfortunately over the course of a few months, the game (in my region) became a wasteland of just 4 people playing the game and 1 person searching... This really makes me sad because I enjoyed this game a lot with my friends and there is some imbalance in the classes but with enough practice with any class it is possible to kill anyone playing any class. Me and my friends all played Ivan just because he looked fun and while at first the people constantly firing guns were really annoying (we only used swords + there was 3 of us so nearly a complete 4 man team) but then after a while we could easily take out a team of anyone, even those spinny annoying girls with the daggers. I reccomend this game just because it isn't truly pay to win, the pay to use guns deal a minimal amount more than normal guns and this rarely amounts to the killing blow, though it does occasionally. Very fun would recommend simply to get more people to play and stop complaining about 'pay to win' that isnt really pay to win, just pay to be a little more annoying.

just started playing this game and i must say i love the action provided by this game. the only problem is there are not that many players and i think the developer should provide a way for player to host their own game instead of the auto matchmaking. this should make it easier for players to join a game they prefer instead of waiting long just to see that there are no match available. hope the developer could provide a way to create a match in the next update.
