I was an avid player of the first GunZ back then. Actually I still am, in the many private servers available. When GunZ 2 was announced, I had mixed feelings. Many questions popped. Can GunZ 2 be better than GunZ?

The answer is, neither yes nor no. GunZ 2 is an entirely different game from GunZ, so you really cannot compare the both of them. GunZ 2 is designed with realistic gameplay in mind, so it lacks a lot of the "mechanics exploits" available in the first GunZ game.

In other words, if you've gotten very used to the controls, mechanics and physics of GunZ, you won't like GunZ 2. But if you started playing GunZ 2 without playing GunZ, chances are you won't mind.

With that comparison out of the way, I'd say GunZ 2 is a pretty decent game. Graphics are definitely a major plus side over GunZ, but you're talking about years apart between those 2 games. Being a GunZ player, I find myself not used to the new mechanics, but I still think it is a good game.

Like GunZ, you still get PVP and PVE matches. The only drawback thus far is the lack of players. It would be great if you could get a bunch of friends to play together.

Nothing much else I can say about this. It's definitely recommended though. It's free anyway, so why not add another third-person shooter to your games library?

Hikumi gives this game, a 6 out of 10.

well, I don't think I've ever given this game a review.
I do not recommend it. Not because I think it's a bad game, but because the way it's handled.

lotta prollems.

Hacking
Hacking's an issue, I don't remember one hack free week of gameplay when I was into it. I'm sure with all these hack threads in my absence, it's only gotten worse.

Updates/support
This game hardly updates, when it does it's mostly a balance patch, and personally I don't mind, balance patches I think, are a good thing, the prollem is they do it wrong.

Also, the focus of this game has changed region several times, first in closed beta for korea(totally different game then), then kill it off and bring a new beta to EU(resembling what we have today), then bring the Open beta to the US on Steam, then pull it off steam in EU and sell it to Aeria games which doesn't seem to care about the game in the end as it somehow died there and is now back up in steam in EU I think? I don't even know, AND NOW IT'S IN MALAYSIA!

Cash Items
While I would prefer cash items to not exist, and I personally don't think the Tesla system is bad in the sense of earning a weapon, it makes it a real hard sell for people wiling to put money in the game, you're paying, to get a chance at getting a weapon. You can find yourself spending hundreds to get everything you want.

Netcode
So we're still using the Host system. I got to play on the dedicated server in US-West for a while, but not every game that night was on the dedicated server and afterwards I think they just droped it.

What's good? Gameplay.
It's fast paced, it's intuitive, honestly gameplay alone, it's not that bad, just a few tweaks with the games hit and block stun and melee combat in this game would be great imo, The melee combat is fun, it's just not good. This game does incorporate strategy in Team Elimination mode and it's always great to have a team that works together just right, Ivans can snipe opponents just out of the hallways in Mansion, Elena's can locate any hiding opponents with her E-skill, Renas and Waynes can provide a distraction to assist in kills for their team, very effectively. Yeah, the game really isn't that bad for competitive play, but unfortunately, there isn't much competition and the Host system in this game basically makes one member on either team really hard to kill, and it makes it too easy for them to kill you, so you will have to precede with caution when you fight against the host.

Btw, anyone expecting this game to play like Gunz1 will be disappointed, they're totally different games.

Conclusion
I will close my review saying what I said before, I cannot recommend this game, I like it, I've had a lot of fun playing it, but it just doesn't deserve the love that neither I nor the many veteran players that have stuck with it give it today, because maiet just doesn't know what to do, it's like they're throwing the game everywhere just to see who likes their product the most instead of actually working towards making it a truly good product.

I don't understand how they messed up this game so badly.... why add campaign? why add classes? if it aint broke don't kill it.

If there are no players near your area you are screwed and can't play online matches, how hard was it to just divide by zones? East-west coast, and europe.... blah

They killed one of my favorite games.

Classes feel gimmicky.

Pre-Release Review
The net code is terrible, hit contacts are poorly registered, fighting styles are bland, it has none of the appeal of original Gun Z. The PVE is boring and 1 dimensional. Peer to Peer is terrible with a community of mostly Brazilians.

The reviews are a little rough. This game is by no means worth a 10/10 rating, but it's definitely underrated. It's fast paced and it's got a fair amount of very different characters to choose from. I just wish I got more of a tutorial. It's like CoD in that they teach you to shoot a certain way and then you never do that again. It's more of a cluster♥♥♥♥ than they let on. I personally like this game and would recommend it to friends, I'm just hoping the few bugs here and there get resolved.
