Notes on upcoming new contents - 10/28/2014

Hello everyone,

First of all, I would like to apologize about delayed contents update and announcements. As you might already know, we have launched GunZ 2 in South East Asia last month. We’ve been focused on the project for the past few weeks, and we are now ready to push the next contents update on Steam for you all.
We have prepared 24 new items all equipped with brand new features that will bring a huge impact to the gameplay.

See below for details of the new gears.

The latest technology developed by scientists of NAU enabled soldiers to use their optimite energy when handling firearms. By doing so, they can use special abilities installed on the weapons.

Ivan
Optimite Crime Buster MK I
[X-ray Scope] Scope zoom sees through objects. (Constantly consumes ZP)

Optimite Crime Buster MK II
[Lock and Load] Waiting for 3 seconds in scope zoomed in activates Lucky Bullet. (Replaces original Lucky Bullet)

Optimite Curved Blade MK I
[Typhoon] Cyclone Kick is enhanced with powerful spinning attack. (Consumes 2 ZP bars / can be casted in mid-air only)

Optimite Curved Blade MK II
[Lightning Blast] Smash combo (MLB > MRB) is replaced with powerful lightning blast attack.

Rena
Optimite Dual Tiger Teeth MK I
[Quick Play] Increases reloading speed. (Aim shot requires max ZP)

Optimite Dual Tiger Teeth MK II
[Precision Spray] Aim shot does not slow down movement speed but slightly decreases aim rate.

Optimite Royal Daggers MK I
[Decoy Dance] Rena's decoy moves forward attacking her enemies.(Rena cannot attack while creating her decoy)

Optimite Royal Daggers MK II
[Chain Rush] Shadow Rush skill's cooldown time resets if an enemy is killed from skill damage. (Skill cooldown time is increased)

Elena
Optimite Spitter MK I
[Precision Strike] Grenade shells can be detonated by pressing R button. (Grenades do not explode upon contact with targets.

Optimite Spitter MK II
[Fire Skipper] Grenade shell explodes and bounces off group 4 times. (Reload time increased)

Optimite Baton MK I
[Shockwave] Hammerfall is enhanced with 3 consecutive explosion instead of 1. (Explosion damage gets smaller over the course)

Optimite Baton MK II
[Determination] After taunting motion, Elena can use powerful unblockable attack with mouse right button. (Replaces Launch Attack)

Wayne
Optimite Eagle Eye MK I
[Roulette] One round per each clip does greater damage. (Disables Fast Draw)

Optimite Eagle Eye MK II
[Auto Aim] One Shot One Kill locks on targets automatically, but max target number decreases.

Optimite Anaconda Tail MK I
[Arms Robbery] Grabbing an enemy temporarily neutralizes enemy's weapon.

Optimite Anaconda Tail MK II

Optimite Legion Shield MK I
[Shielddozer] Max charges 3 times upon casting Shield Charge. (Skill damage decreases over the course)

Optimite Legion Shield MK II
[Light Leap] Shield Shock consumes only 1 ZP bar. Shield Shock can be cased in air. (Skill damage is reduced)

Rose
Optimite TDW-4 MK I
[Guided Rocket] Fired rocket traces after the target Rose's crosshair is pointing. (Firing rate decreased)

Optimite TDW-4 MK II
[Multishot] Rose can fire upto 3 rockets at once by pressing and holding Fire button. (Movement speed is decreased while charging shots)

Optimite Survival Knife MK I
[Humongous Fall!] Skill damage of What you got in there? is also increased by 50% but chances to trip also increases to 100%

Optimite Survival Knife MK II
[Kaboom!] Jump slash triggers an explosion and damages all nearby enemies.

We’ll be have a few rounds of testing period to finalize these new items for the next 3 to 4 weeks, and then prepare for release. Again, I apologize about the prolonged delay in contents update.

Id rather the original game... this one isn't terrible, but is in no what way comparison to the gameplay to be expected from the community. Steam should pick up the Gunz The Duel. (first one) and carry it run some servers...bet it does better than this game.

As a person who never got to play the Original GunZ, I was fortunate enough to enter this game with a sort of "free-slate" so to speak towards the massive dissapointment that most of the GunZ: The Duel players had.

However, because of this unbiased-ness I'm also able to clearly evaluate what's lacking, and in what areas. So here it goes:

I find that the tutorial to this game is clunky, for starters. They teach you basic manuevers (sure) and then don't bother to explain some of the more finer aspects of the game (like juggling, guard-breaks, parry's) and overall "Mobility" lessons that are quintessential to gameplay.

Right from the get-go you're confused though, as you're presented with three characters, with all their own different types of play styles.

A Sniper (Who most people go for stupidly, and I myself fell for this trap)
A Gunslinger (Balance between Offensive and Mobility)
A Shield-Trooper (Heavy-Offense, Super-Defense)

However, what it doesn't tell you is which one is geared towards beginners, and which one is geared towards advanced players. Take if from me when I say the Shield-Trooper is the best first choice, for both campaign and beginner's in general.

So now you're in the game, and you're excited. You load up a Co-Op game and figure: "Awesome! This is going to be so much fun."

Three minutes passes, and when you decided to stupidly try to go in for meelee kills, you were facerolled by enemies whose AI are set to "Easy Mode" And you're left scratching your head in mystery. "Whatever" you say, and use one of your tokens.

What you fail to realize is that your tokens are impermanent, and suddenly you find yourself penny pinching them for those last-minute saves. Meanwhile, your teamates (who are either higher skill cap and alive, or dead and furious at you, screaming for a "revive pls" every two seconds) are equally getting frustrated by the game, and with you and eventually quit.

Okay, so you figure that the campaign mode is merely bugged, and will get better with time, right?
No.

So you give up on Campaign and go to versus mode, where you're excited to play against other players. You begin searching for a match...and then you search some more....and then you search some more.....and then you search some more.... and then you search some more.... until -finally- you get into a match.

Oh how wondrous! You finally made it into a match, and you're fairly certain that you'll be ju~
-BOOM-

You. are. dead.

"WTF!?" you yell in annoyance, as you check what killed you. Turns out a guy whose ping is skyrocket, and is also the host, happens to be pretty much lag-owning everybody in the room. You suddenly find yourself unable to land clean hits, and you begin doing "Lag Compensation" shots.

You make last place, and throw your hands up in defeat.

Needless to say: I'm coming to this game as an old fan of S4 League, where I was God-Like in terms of skill. Coming here? Doesn't matter. I can't hit a target that literally phases through my bullets, or doesn't feel the effects until seconds later. Melee combat is a joke as well, and overall this game feels horribly clunky and bad.

There's a reason I uninstalled it.

I came from GunZ:The Duel, and was Extremely disapointed at this new GunZ? Butterfly? forget it. you simply can't, you can't even wall bounce off the same wall more than once, and the character Specials just ruined everything

Played Gunz for years. There's not much of a comparison between the 2 games. Gunz 2 is much more restrictive in its use of animation cancels and kstyle, but instead offers much more in-depth sets of unique abilities accross multiple completely different character classes. I really like the balance and different options available in this game; whereas in Gunz 1 everyone pretty much used the same setup (katana, 2x shotgun). The graphics are good and the gameplay is very solid. I did notice some serious problems with lag which hopefully will be addressed - unlike ping issues which were never addressed in Gunz 1 (despire fans creating patches for it in their own pservers). The only other issue I have is with wait times and arbitrary restrictions of matchmaking. You should setup a free matchmaking like in Gunz 1. It seems like the only thing that is at stake by allowing players to freely setup custom matches is the integrity of rankings and the challenge of leveling/gaining gold (which would be lost by players swapping kills or exploiting the system with their friends). On the other hand, I think the integrity of such things is a small price to pay for the overall enjoyment and playability of the game. Practice game tackles this issue but it's not quite the same... but I guess it's a decent solution!

I actually tried very hard to find a better third person action game and was not able to find one that compared with Gunz 2.

It's ok. It's also free.

When Gunz (1) came out I dropped a lot of time into that. Compared to 1 I found 2 a bit lacking. For the most part the maps are a lot smaller and that works out due to a lower team size (4v4 matchups). While I agree that the maps should be small and tight for the low man teams it still felt claustrophobic at time, especially compared to the large (huge?) maps of 1.

What I don't care for is that the teams are so much smaller. There are a lot less ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ type moments, like getting shot from behind and what not, but the difference in skill level really, really shows in 2.

2 also adjusted gear pretty heavily. Please note that I didn't play around with the gear system so much. To start, you're no longer an every-man: the type of gear you can equip is locked between different characters (classes). These characters level individually, although you may unlock (purchase with in game currency) all of them with ease.

From what I recall (it's been a while and like I said I didn't do much with the equipment) gear degrades over time (matches). There are also cool looking pieces that have slightly better stats but I'm not sure about the specifics. I believe they fade over time (like 6 hours), though.

There are pay to win elements but they're fairly weak.

In addition to team deathmatch, elimination, gladiator (elimination: melee only) and objective (do the thing!) there's a story mode but I found it pretty unforgiving. If you die in the story mode you need to use accrued, finite credits to revive.

The biggest complaint I have is that there are no longer servers. Instead, a player/team uses matchmaking to find opponents. One of the players in the game serves as the host. This inevitably leads to whining about lag, which I think I've experienced in every single match I've been in.

The in game community has been, from my personal experience, fairly mean spirited.

The overall feel of 2 is very similar to 1 so that's good.

Either way, check it out, it's free. I had fun with it for a little while and that's worth something.
