Lo que dicen los desarrolladores:

¿Por qué acceso anticipado?

“Nuclear Throne was originally created during MOJAM 2013 as a tiny, two day prototype called 'Wasteland Kings'. We never stopped adding little things to the game, even as we moved on to other projects. We had livestreamed development during MOJAM, and decided to continue doing that while we worked on a full version of the game.”

¿Cuánto tiempo va a estar este juego en acceso anticipado aproximadamente?

“The game will be in Early Access until it is done, at which point it'll launch on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Until that point, we release weekly updates (each weekend) and livestream every Tuesday and Thursday frmo 1PM CET to 5PM CET on http://twitch.tv/Vlambeer.”

¿Cuán diferente será la versión completa de la versión de acceso anticipado?

“Nuclear Throne will feature seven full worlds of procedural action, four main bosses, tons of secrets, more than 75 weapons, 10 mutants, dozens of powerful mutations and local multiplayer.”

¿Cuál es el estado actual de la versión de acceso anticipado?

“The game is fully stable and playable, and has new additions made to it every weekend.”

¿Variará el precio del juego durante el periodo previo y posterior al acceso anticipado?

“If you want to wait until the game is done, it'll be available for $11,99 after development is complete. We're not doing any sales or bundles until the game is out of Early Access - we want people that really care about the game to buy and play it now. If you're curious as to how a game like this evolves or grows, now is the time to jump in.”

¿Cómo tienes planeado involucrar a la comunidad en tu proceso de desarrollo?

“We livestream development every Tuesday and Thursday from 1PM CET to 5PM CET, are very active in our forums and upload a new build every single weekend.”

Update #68 - The Long Overhaul - Weekend of April 10th

This must've been the weirdest update we've ever done, as it's tiny, and both boring and super exciting at the same time!

We've started on our big interface overhaul, which is a ton of extremely detailed work intending to lift the overall game to a next level of polish. This is a lot of very detailed work, requiring us to rework and clean up a lot of the existing code while meticulously designing how and where every pixel has to move. In the long run, the new menu will allow us consistent behaviour across keyboard, mouse and controller. After that, a lot of other screens in the game are going to get the same treatment.

Basically, the update we've just thrown live contains a super-unfinished, half-broken start of where we're heading with the character select screen. It might not look like the most exciting thing, but it sure is a huge step towards getting the game ready for release. There's some (great) placeholder art by Paul and tons of tiny animations, and it sure is no indication of the final product!

This is one of these things you'd normally never even think about showing when working on a game, and it's almost so rough that we wanted to keep it behind the scenes. But, promise is promise, and we said we'd show you the ins and outs of game development. So for the sake of science, we present to you: the broken, half-finished new menu update! We'll hopefully be a lot further along next week, allowing us to get back to fixes, balancing and content, but we thought it'd be fun to give am extreme peek behind the scenes for now instead of an updateless week!

Be sure to jump into our streams next tuesday and thursday to get more insights in where all of this is heading!

    Features
  • A brand new, very broken, work in progress character select screen! Sorry if it breaks things.

    Fixes
  • Spiderwebs in [CLASSIFIED] now actually work!

Hopefully we'll have a slightly more complete interface for you next week, and a bit more actual substance!

Update #67 - What dog? - Weekend of April 3rd

A smaller update this week, as the last hotfix took... a bit more work than usual.

We've been working hard on the plans and mockups for our interface overhaul, and we're proud to announce the very first signs of that are starting to appear in the game! We've now got support for colored text, meaning that for starters your tips now look more interesting! Words like HEALTH or AMMO will be color-coded, and we'll also highlight anything else we might deem important.

Do note that the current implementation is super early, so where and how we've applied it is probably still a bit inconsistent. We're figuring this thing out.

Other than that, we've got another big update to the mutation icons for you, a few small balances, some bug fixes, etc.

Dig in, and have fun! Hope nothing weird shows up this week.

    Features
  • Basic support for colored text.
  • A big update to the mutation icons!

    Balancing
  • Snowtanks now explode sooner.
  • Blood Cannon drops later.
  • Heavy Assault Rifle drops slightly later.

    Fixes
  • Fixed a minor glitch related to Big Dog.
  • Sewers loop boss projectiles no longer fly forever.
  • Steroids now gets a 4th weapon from Big Chests with his Ambidextrous.
  • Lil' Hunter flying around before death now has a smaller collision mask.

    Misc
  • Saplings now animate faster.
  • Added an effect for getting +8HP.
  • Updated a bunch of tips.

Enjoy!

This has been my go-to game for months now! There's an incredible amount of variety in the weapons and abilities that you can find, and they get crazier as you go on! Revolver. Sledgehammer. Laser rifle. Minigun. Energy sword. Auto grenade shotgun. Lightning cannon. Each character is also completely unique, and plays very differently. One revolves around spawning minions to assist you, while another can dual wield, an yet another can explode the corpses of defeated enemies! You can become absurdly powerful, but you're still always vulnerable, and it's PERFECT. If you have played some of the modern action-roguelikes that are so popular today (Binding of Isaac, Crypt of the Necrodancer), you have likely noticed that you become nearly unstoppable after a while. In Isaac, you get Brimstone, tammy's head, and holy mantle? You can't die. This is not the case with Nuclear Throne! You can launch nukes into crowds of enemies, you can spawn an entire army of allies to protect you, you can use telekinesis to push away projectiles, and yet the slightest misstep leads to a yeti hurling a car at you, putting your rampage to an explosive end. And that explosion is going to look good, sound good, and feel good, because the visual and audio design is extremely on point. You can really feel the power in a gun when you're shooting it. The only reason I can think of to pass up this game is if you're just not into the challenge of it. As I said, you can die in an instant at any moment. You'll generally have 8 HP tops, and a standard bullet does 3 damage. Many things deal more than that. You do not get invincibility frames upon being hit (I THINK. If you do, it's like 2 or 3 frames tops). If that sounds like a dealbreaker to you, I guess this isn't your kind of game. If that sounds exciting to you, get the game NOW! I honestly can't recommend it enough. Have fun!

For an Early Access game, Nuclear Throne is quite impressive. With tons of guns on your side, and random mutations to make runs different every time, where can you go wrong? Oh, and go ahead and add a wide array of different characters to play as! With so many combinations, you'll lose track of the time while fighting hordes of enemies.

1. Getting bullets reflected back at you by the IDPD
2. Portals exploding cars right as you are about to enter
3. Giant radioactive "dog" things suddenly jumping and murdering you
4. Necromancers reviving freaks from directly under your feet in the Labs
5. Lil' Hunter and everything about him
6. Giant robot human things throwing cars at you out of nowhere
7. Laser crystals firing at you from some remote location off the screen
8. Getting a horrible spawn location for the Big Dog fight
9. Having absolutely no ammo for the Throne
10. Explosive weapons killing you because decorative objects are in the way

If you cringed while reading this, there's a good chance that you love Nuclear Throne.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then you really need to try Nuclear Throne.
