Nuclear Throne is Vlambeers latest action roguelike-like about mutants fighting their way through a post-apocalyptic world. The radioactive waste in the world allows mutants to get ahead by mutating new limbs on the fly, the abundant availability of powerful weaponry make the quest to become ruler of the Wasteland one frought with peril.

Od twórców:

Czemu Wczesny Dostęp?

“Nuclear Throne was originally created during MOJAM 2013 as a tiny, two day prototype called 'Wasteland Kings'. We never stopped adding little things to the game, even as we moved on to other projects. We had livestreamed development during MOJAM, and decided to continue doing that while we worked on a full version of the game.”

Ile czasu trwa faza Wczesnego dostępu?

“The game will be in Early Access until it is done, at which point it'll launch on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Until that point, we release weekly updates (each weekend) and livestream every Tuesday and Thursday frmo 1PM CET to 5PM CET on http://twitch.tv/Vlambeer.”

Czym różni się zaplanowana pełna wersja od tej z Wczesnego Dostępu?

“Nuclear Throne will feature seven full worlds of procedural action, four main bosses, tons of secrets, more than 75 weapons, 10 mutants, dozens of powerful mutations and local multiplayer.”

Jaki jest obecny stan wersji z Wczesnego Dostępu?

“The game is fully stable and playable, and has new additions made to it every weekend.”

Czy cena gry ulegnie zmianie podczas i po Wczesnym Dostępie?

“If you want to wait until the game is done, it'll be available for $11,99 after development is complete. We're not doing any sales or bundles until the game is out of Early Access - we want people that really care about the game to buy and play it now. If you're curious as to how a game like this evolves or grows, now is the time to jump in.”

Jak zamierzacie włączyć społeczność w wasz proces tworzenia?

Update #47 - Week of Sound - Week of October 17th

If there's any week where you'll really notice that we're back working on the sound effects, let this be the one! There are so many new weapon sound effects in the game now, we're super excited to hear what y'all think! To make our job easier and pretend we wrote a long introduction here, let's just list them all. New sound effects for: Chicken Sword, Energy Sword, Energy Screwdriver, Hyper Launcher, Rusty Revolver, Smartgun, Sawed-off Shotgun, Double Shotgun, Super Slugger, Flak Cannon, Flak Explosion, Super Flak Cannon, Super Flak Explosion, Wave Gun, Grenade Launcher, all Golden weapons, Heavy Crossbow, Super Crossbow, Flame Cannon, Blood Hammer, Blood Launcher, all Lightning Weapons and the Rogue rifle.

Other than that, there's some proper bug fixing and preparations for future updates going on. Heck yes! Have fun!

    Features
  • A million new sound effects.

    Balancing
  • More range for Allies, making Rebel's Throne Butt even more overpowered!

    Fixes
  • Patience now works as it should again.
  • Inspector slugs can no longer damage you when you're in a Portal.
  • Fixed various little audio problems.
  • Named the Double Minigun "Double Minigun" instead of "Minigun", because we're dumb.
  • Fixed a crash caused by Nukes when the player died.
  • Fire Salamanders should no longer blow up cars by touching them.

    Misc
  • Updated the post-boss music.
  • New art for the light beams.
  • A cool new prop in the desert.
  • All cannons (except the laser cannon) now break walls on impact.
  • Lightning Hammer now plays a lightning sound on impact.
  • Mutation picking now sounds a bit more powerful.

This brings us to a very exciting point in Nuclear Throne! We're getting very close to implementing some of the last big systems before we can start wrapping this baby up!

Update #46 - Happy Birthday Nuclear Throne - Week of October 10th

Wait, what. We've been in Early Access for a year now? Wow! This calls for a celebration!

It's kind of absurd to think that for the past year, we've streamed about 520 hours of Nuclear Throne development and released almost 50 updates of the game. From less than a 100 Google results, Nuclear Throne now has over 300,000 Google results. There are over 40,000 YouTube videos, the majority likely by Sleepcycles, Bisnap and TenguDrop. The Nuclear Throne group has over 5,000 Members, we're listed in dozens of Steam Curator Lists and the game has performed super well for us.

We owe all of this to our amazing team, and to all of you. We can't express just how thankful we are for every single one of you that bought the game, but also those that show up in streams, that create weekly challenges, that offer feedback and criticism, that ask questions in the livestreams or make fan art, fan writing, fan music, fan games or even figurines.

So let's get to update #46! We've got Joonas back! That means there's a lot of cool new sound effects. Jukio made a beautiful minimalist tune that plays in the background after you've defeated a boss. There's also a ton of balancing, and three ridiculous new weapons. Go check the log!

We've been working hard behind the scenes on some future features too. Paul's been creating beautiful enemies and tiles for an upcoming secret area, and we've taken our first baby steps towards seeding. It isn't quite working yet, but we'll hopefully have some first test with that soon! Enjoy!

    Features
  • Some little things to celebrate one year of Early Access!
  • Sounds for the *CLASSIFIED*!
  • Three new high level weapons: The Auto Grenade Shotgun, Double Minigun and Gatling Bazooka.
  • Music for after boss fights.
  • Music for 0_1.

    Balancing
  • Boiling Veins now works when under 4HP, instead of 50% HP.
  • Rebel's healing is now rounded down.
  • Bloodlust has received a tiny buff.
  • Lucky Shot has received a buff.
  • Last Wish now fills Rogue's special ammo.
  • Slugger rate of fire has been reduced a tiny bit.
  • Rogue Rifle rate of fire has been reduced a bit.
  • Hyper Launcher deals less impact damage.
  • Snowtanks now take longer before they'll react to things.

    Fixes
  • Rogue's special, the Nuke Launcher and the Ion Cannon now work with gamepad. All still need some work for usability, but we'll go over gamepad controls at some point!
  • The LOW HP message no longer intersects with Rogue's special ammo counter..
  • Boss music no longer keeps playing after *CLASSIFIED*.
  • Rogue should no longer get stuck because portals won't spawn.
  • Boss intro's no longer stop all other sounds from playing.

    Misc
  • Disabled the Sentry Gun for now, we're sorry, but it's terrible.
  • Rogue now sounds as Fish, until she gets her own SFX.
  • Horror starts with a normal revolver again. We want the Rusty Revolver to stay special.
  • Sound effects for pop weapons and fire shotguns!
  • The *CLASSIFIED* no longer fires when you're dead.
  • The screen now shakes a bit when *CLASSIFIED* walks.
  • Boss gun audio now works the same as player gunfire, muting out all other sounds a bit.
  • Rogue has an updated walk animation.
  • Added some more tips.

We're not done yet, though. We have months of work ahead, and during those months we hope for your continued support and help in spreading Nuclear Throne across the world.

Time to celebrate with some Nuclear Throne!

Polecam, w szczególności do coopa. Jest jeszcze bardziej (o ile to w ogóle możliwe) chaotycznie i szybko. Kwintesencja dobrej zabawy w rozsądnej cenie. Mocne 8+.

Do you know crunch? I mean, do you truly know the incredibly visceral, powerful and satisfying feedback that is crunch? Now go into Nuclear Throne and smack a maggots nest with a sledgehammer. Go on, I don't mind. Being inanimate text that a person typed and then abandoned, I have no sense of time. It'll be like kicking good vibes across a punch bowl (I'm also hit-and-miss with simile).

Okay, you're back! How was it-- Ohhh, I know that look! Your eyes have the enlightened glint of one who has tried the good stuff, the real deal, the prime reserve. You can't go back, now. Now, you know crunch. The real crunch. This is Nuclear Throne, and it's appeal cannot be simply summed up in a few words. It's referred to as an "action roguelike-like(-like)" because it is difficult to put into a genre. Because it is its own genre. If I were to call it anything, it would probably be "Randomly-Generated Action Crunch with Permadeath", which I am predicting will be a cereal by 2019 (sans permadeath, unless we don't have randomly-generated cereals by then, in which case I WANT to die).

Everything about this game is crunchy. There's a power-up based leveling system (further referred to as they are in game, "mutations"), a charming and variant cast of playable characters, tons of weapons (about 73 as of this writing, but I was just in on a stream where they rather liked my suggestion of adding nunchuks), crazy enemies, b-skins, rule-altering pickups and even local 2-player! And the art and music-- Ohhh, the art and music! The beautiful and detailed pixel art, the energizing (sometimes haunting) tracks and impeccable sound design frankly shocked me. Such character and atmosphere I found myself immersed in!

The game is so easy to pick up, and yet the way you develop your character is incredibly deep. The developers waste none of their time (and consequently, your time) on anything that doesn't feel just awesome. Sure, "Mutation A" doesn't seem very good, at first. But once you learn more about "Characters D and E" and how they synergize splendidly with "Mutation A" when paired with "Mutation G", you get an "Aha" moment! Like a challenging, yet ultimately rewarding puzzle, Nuclear Throne holds a plethora of "Aha" moments for those willing to scratch past the surface and experiment with the MASSIVE number of possible character builds. And you need no mutation to love a samurai chicken! C'mon.

The developers are two guys, who comprise Vlambeer, and four others who handle the art, music and sound. They're the most down-to-earth, approachable and generally cool guys to ever make a game, probably (permission to put that on the back cover = granted). They generally update the game every Saturday with new characters, baddies, weapons, difficulty balancing and bug fixes. They even stream themselves developing said changes every Tuesday and Thursday on their Twitch channel (http://www.twitch.tv/vlambeer)! And they take feedback like pros! None of this "bleuuu, you don't like my game, banned and deleted" business. They're good people.

Oh, and you'll be dying a lot. I didn't "beat" the game until I had already logged around 100 hours (there's an end-boss, but you loop back to the beginning with higher difficulty upon defeating it), but that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying every minute up until that point and after! This is a fantasticly addictive game, with a fantastic community and fantastic developers that is already easy to recommend. The fact that it promises to only get better is just gravy!

And yes, I did a "let's play":

I love Vlambear, so this was definitely on my radar.

PROS
- Range of characters.
- Easy to get into.
- Regular updates.
- Fantastic developers.

CONS
- The perk system could use some work.

Other than the one con, which can easily be fixed, this game is a full recommendation from me.
(If you buy it off the humble store Vlambear get a cut off the sale and it supports the humble staff!)

Update (8/8/14): Seems the perk system has been improved so that complaint can be removed.

Update (29/8/14): After further addiction to this game, I can confirm it is a solid 10/10. It is by far in my top 10 games ever made.

Incredibly addictive, action packed and fun game! Great job from developers who know how early access should look like. Game feels like it is finished already (at least for me). Constant patches (at the moment patch 39) add a lot of stuff which improves the game, from simple fixes to new bosses, secret levels and skins. Definitely a game that will keep you occupied with step by step progress and feeling of achievement after completing levels and beating our nemesis. I fully support and recommend this game.

Pros:
-Addictive
-genuinely fun
-tons of multiple character build options
-fun characters
-constant challenge with looping and patches
-heaps of weapons to try out!
-great music!
-helpful community which can also provide custom challenges

Cons:
-some people don't like early access
-kind of hard but it depends on player
-wouldn't recommend for epileptic players

Other than that i can just tell you: "GO PLAY IT NOW!"
