This game was released about 10-15 year ago and created by the bitmap brothers, in case you didn't know that it's the same dudes that did the famous speedball 2. If you don't know about speed ball 2 then slap yourself in the face with a trout really hard because you're probably too young to know any better.
Anyway, this version is a fantastic port of the original, plus it has extra effects in game to alter bloom saturation, smoothing and key bindings.. not to mention 360 direction (which the old one wouldn't do, so I guess this is a slight cheat :P... plus it has 1-2-3-4-5-6x scaling & subtitles... helping you recreate how the original looked.. (shame it doesn't have scan lines and green screen mode...
First of all you select which character you want with what weapon, each has its advantages. If you are doing a single player the CPU controls your team mate or you can have a friend join in to make it a whole lot more fun..
Just a case of wandering around, game is based in the simple future and you shoot baddies that spawn, most of the baddies drop coins or special weapon power ups... these coins allow you to upgrade your stuff (you get to do this when you have reached the end of the level)
What i like about this game is it doesn't take a lot of thinking and isn't difficult to control, (keyboard defaults are WASD and Space..) It's one of those games you can get home from work and just slowly unwind, especially with the good old music..
Lot of younger kids of today may not appreciate this game, i grew up with this game on my Amiga so it's also a nostalgia trip as well as a whole lot of fun.
I snapped up this game when it was on offer for £2.37 ((still BETA)), I'd probably go to about £2.99, I certainly wouldn't pay full price... Thanks to Mastertronic for bringing it to the Steam, i surely thought this game was doomed in the emulation heap...
