First and formost it's a good game in all but there are some details that make it a flawed masterpeice.

The game is like zelda where you have to pay for a bigger rupee bag, which no one likes at all.

One of the good qualities is the missions although some can get repetitive are very fun.

The story it's self, is just... amazing gets a 4.5/5 in my book!

This is some rare hilarious bug I find where when jump crawling up buildings I can phase through them
which makes every time it happens funny as hell.

9/10 could be better still a good game keep up the good work DC.

I played DCUO from the very start and took a break. I recently came back to this game and was pretty much disappointed that I couldn't access my old characters (thanks daybreak!) unless I paid money to get my "deleted" (aka old characters that I never deleted) back. After that, I decided to uninstall.

Other than the shady practice, the game is still fun when leveling up, endgame is a pretty tedious grind tbh. Basic powers you start off with are good(fire and ice being near top dps), but if you want more powers you'll have to cough up money, as expected. Biggest question: Can this game keep you for the long run?

Nope. For a month or two, sure. I can't see myself playing this again for more than a month.

After all of the Pay2Win ♥♥♥♥ in this game, and as much as I hate it, I still play it. I guess its because of the sort-of-decent F2P Raids/Instances. I'll probably never buy membership though. I like the game, but I hate the game more, yet I still play it. Help me. Oh, and by the way, my steam hours for DCUO has nothing to do with my actual hours put into the game. I downloaded it from the DCUO website a long time ago and not from steam. I played for about 3-4 years, so i'd say i've played for at least 300 hours.

If you are looking for a free to play game, this is not your game. In order to get in the game for your first time you have to wait at the least 30 minutes to get in unless you are a member or have payed 5 dollars to get in the game.
I didnt even get in to the game because i wasn't going to wait, they really have to get rid of waiting time to get in, overall I don't recommend this to people that actually want to play for free without waiting or paying.

Tripe.

Don't know if it is because I was a City of Heroes/Villains subscription holder from day one and I have been spoiled but this game is awful...

I have tried it on PC and XBONE, it is just sheer... It's just terrible alright.

Extremely limited character creation(seriously one face?)
Useless Skill set up, once you choose your powers you are basically the same as everyone else but with different colours, skills develop later on but I just can't play it for long enough to discover them in-depth.
Items affect your character rather than powers so if you - like me - want to make your (absolutely awful looking) werewolf that you loved playing on CoH/V then you can expect to have an awful face, terrible customisation(seriously you can colour your fur, thats it) and have to wear items to improve.

Like I say, I may have been spoiled by the late, great CoH/V but this game is utter tripe and just - oh it's just so boring!

Played this for a while and really like it. I dont play MMOs to much but I do like coming back to them once a year for a few weeks or months. I would like to say the same for this game but when I reinstalled it and loaded it up and logged in I was very happy to see my list of characters ....not there. I had to creat a new character and start over. once I got out of the first mission i looked to see the character list and there was my 2 characters waiting for me. They were resticted and I had to reactivate them for 15$ each. Are you joking? Im about to just uninstall this again and not come back because my hard work in this game is gone and the memories i had are gone. DCUO killed my heros and I wont start over and play the same missions over and over. ♥♥♥♥ that im out.

As a regular player of the game, I will go Schrodinger and not recommend the game while recommending it.

1 - If you intend never to spend any money on this game, don't play it for more than once per week. Endgame is seriously limited after you hit max level, specially as you can progress very quickly on that point. Conversely, subscribers might enjoy the game a lot, unless they allow very little to bother them.
2 - Do not queue publicly after Tier 4. Teams are horrible and, to add to that, refuse to acknowledge their own fault. I don't even bother trying to tell them that (I don't like pointing fingers at others), I play as a Healer (Hi, world, it's Combat Doctor here!) and I just stand there keeping my team alive and trying to keep myself out of trouble.
3 - Keep your voice chat off. Your ears will be very thankful.
4 - Play with friends.
5 - Don't bother about power customization if you want to play a damage role or any role whatsoever. Thanks to Advanced Mechanics, pratically all power customization has been thrown down the toilet. You can make custom builds, but they won't be nearly as effective as the cookie cutters.

Potential 10/10, currently 5/10 from me.

I have at least 3k hours on this game as I didn't use it with steam until early last year. This game was also owned by SOE until about a year ago.

As it stands now; the game is fantastic.... until you hit 30... Then its unstable, pay to play(freemium), poorly maintained mess.

The core game was never intended to go past tier 2 raids, which ended 3 years ago. Classes have been dumbed down so much and removed a large portion of any skill factor the game had left. Bugs that have been in the game since launch persist. A dwindling, elitest(am somewhat guilty myself) community is not suited for new players. That and massive pay walls for any relativley new content + the ability to access features needed for upper tier content are a major turn off for a game rapidly loosing all appeal.

Daybreak did throw some life back in the game. More costume options and lair decor. But it simply stalls the realization that the game isn't fun anymore.

Used to be a fun game....then it was sold and Daybreak split off the powers from the content. But kinda didn't tell anyone for awhile.

So now it's still pretty much the same game, just 2x more expensive to buy DLC. Still fun, but I despise cash grabs.

City of Heroes is dead (*sniff*). I like Champions Online, but it's a bit too cartoony (yes, I said that about a superhero game). So...DC Online. I bought it back when it first came out, and ran with a couple of villain and hero groups. Then put it away because, yeah, content is limited. And it still is. But for free, you can zip around Gotham and Metropolis for a month or so, level up a few chars, then quit when it gets grindy. A year and a half break and I'm back to enjoying it for its action combat and graphics. Dunno if I'm going to get serious about it again, but definitely worth taking a look.

I can honestly say after playing this game for over 600 logged hours through steam, I can honestly say this is a fun, and unique game. Yes there can be grinding, and yes you are limited by free to play. Premium is a little better which I am now, owning only a few DLC's packs, styles etc. Then there is Membership which has its perks, and is nice, but in my opinion not needed for fun. I bounce from premium, to member on and off, depending on how much time i wanna put in that particular month. If you are free to play you only get two character slots, but you can delete, and make new characters if you are into going a different path with a character. Premium you get six slots which is better, and of course membership you get more. Either way its a fun game, and I recommend especially if you are big DC Comic fan such as myself.

tl;dr = Buggy launcher, Buggy controls, no regard for free to play players. It's free so try it for yourself but don't expect much. I would recommend Champions online instead.

I first played DCUO way back at launch on ps3 and while it wasn't the best mmo ever and definitely wasn't as good as city of heroes. I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Back then I would have recommended it. Now however I definitely will not recommend it. First of all I couldn't even get it to install properly. The launcher would just randomly shut down without any warning while installing. I basically had to keep opening it, it would complete about 5% of the install and shut again but I kept going out of sheer nostalgia for this game.

Eventually I got the game installed and created a character it was only then the real troubles started. The game makes all free to play users wait in a queue to join the server. The estimated wait time was 2 and a half minutes however it took 10 minutes to get it only to be instantly booted back to character select. Another 10 minute wait and I was back in the prologue only to find that the controls were absolutely atrocious. My character wouldnt turn properly, instead he'd just kind of run forward and gradually turn round while still playing the forward run animation. Sort of like the tank controls from the old resident evil games. I don't know if its a bug but I certainly don't remember movement being that clunky back on ps3.

To make matters worse if you didnt move the camera while moving the character it would just flail wildy in random directions. Again I don't know if this is a bug or if they just messed up the controls when they ported it to pc. I tried searching online and found only one thread on steam of someone having this problem and absolutely zero solutions.

The flying controls seemed a lot more responsive so I tried to push forward only to have the camera completely disconnect from my character while i was flying. I made sure the auto follow setting was on but it didn't seem to help. It honestly felt like I was playing an alpha version of the game.

If you are a fan of DC then go ahead and try it. Maybe your experience will be a lot less buggy than mine but be smart and don't spend any money on this until you're sure it will work properly for you.

First of all, i've like 300h+ in this game, much more than my Steam acc says.

This MMORPG is fun, not a Mozart's Requiem nor a Einstein's Relativity Theory, but still fun, not that addictive (Big con for me when comes to a MMORPG), awful in some ways, it's a little bit p2w (you can play this game and have great fun with it without paying a single dime), BUT in a 80% sale you can buy the Ultimate Edition very cheap, although its has a monthly subscription, it's not important at all, only the expansions are important... However this game has its strong points.

Pros:
- DC fans will love it, its very faithful to the DC Comics, great stories attached to instances/dungeons, awesome atmosphere, great voice acting. (that alone made me play this game for hundreds of hours)
- Singleplayer (Real-time) game combat system applied to an MMO for the first time (about damn time).
- Biggest freedom sensantion ever in an MMO.
- Synergy between abilities and skills are INSANE, makes you think what and when to combo/crowd-control, if you're a Brainiac (see what i did there?), you can be almost invencible at PvP, cuz 90% of players are morons at those synergies...
- Very intuitive, almost impossible to get lost.
- HUGE amount of customizations for your character, not only in the creation, but ingame.

Cons:
- Terrible interface, awful.
- Steep learning curve, specially at PvP, makes people quit very often, since PvP is open world present almost all the time.
- Queue system for Alerts/Raids/PvP are broken, estimated wait time 0% accurate.
- Matchmaking for Alerts/Raids/PvP are dreadful or non-existent, certain necessary roles aren't present sometimes (lel) and you easily could be matched with a full team of non-experienced players against a full team of experienced players, so amusing. :)
- Chat system: Bleeeuuurrrggghh!
- Not that addictive for an MMORPG. (For me it's a con for some ppl it's a pro, haha)
- I love leveling up my character, it's one crucial thing for me in every MMORPG, and DC Universe Online have the worse level cap i've ever seen, a non-experienced player could cap his character in few days.
- Pay to win in some way, but at least a cheap one.

I feel like the bottom line here and what makes this game fun or not is how much do you like DC Comics, as of myself i'm a fan, i love DC, but i couldn't make my friends play it cuz they're not familiar with the atmosphere, that being said, i only recommend it, if you're familiar with DC Comics in some way.

I would say this game is a 7/10.

P.S.: I really don't know how accurate my review is considering i don't play this game since SOE became Daybreak (worst company of all time), but i'm assuming it hasn't change that much.
