Fun for a while, then got boring, I just feel like it doesn't do a good job at keeping players interested in playing, the enimies pose little to no threat, the missions aren't very hard, and the boss battles aren't very challenging, I basicly beat like 3 bosses in 1 go with no challenge at all, it's just not very fun. I know alot of hard work went into making this but I'm sorry it just isn't fun if there isn't any challenge.

Terrible game, made even more terrible by the devs taking away nearly every perk free players had and locked them behind the worst cash shop in gaming. I used to really like this game, but then they took away the ability for preferred members to access bases, as well as changing the combat AI so that the mobs do popups damn near constantly. Oh, yeah. And the stupid ♥♥♥♥ing disheartening trailer where Lex Luthor ♥♥♥♥ing wins. ♥♥♥♥ you, ♥♥♥♥ this game, and ♥♥♥♥ your diseased cash vacuum of a cash shop. I hope your whole MMO department tanks into the ground like a falling, broken satellite.

Pretty neat, and love the fact that its open world. Character customization is uniqe, and there's alot to do with your character. Nothing to complain about here!

The game is fun to play then you get bored, after a period of time you remember about the old times, you return to the game get bored again. Time slips away again and you return to DCUO, again :S but get bored again and so on. It means this game has something that is unique but tis not enough (For me at least). But I think every comics fan should try DCUO for reasons (Batman).

Honestly, this game is a ceespool.
I don't think that I can describe with words the amount of braindeadness that you have to be in order to play this piece of garbage. This game offers NOTHING unique, the "twist" that you have heros instead of RPG characters might aswell make it worse because nobody is special in this game. The so called "lore" isn't even of the game but the comics so not much of a thought has been dedicated to this game. You get to choose between the evil and the good, pretty generic for an MMORPG, with the basic classes unlocked which are total horse-♥♥♥♥ and the good ones locked which only proves my point about how much of an abomination this game is. So, let's say you're digging this game and want to unlock a character that costs money. Guess what? ♥♥♥♥ you! You can't get paid items by playing the game, making this game a worse pay to win than the others on the market. Graphics are pretty bad from what I remember and the game is generally just a generic "MMORPG" which features nothing new or innovative. If you like the DC series and heros, sure, you might have a few fun hours of actually seeing new stuff, but theres nothing else than grinding for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ items and combat ratings that you do in this game. LITERALLY the only thing you do in this game is grind for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ items to level up, you have to be a ♥♥♥♥ing dumb ♥♥♥♥ in order to actually have fun while playing this game, or a 5 year old.
So why am I writing this review? Don't I have better stuff to do? Yeah, but this review isn't for me. See, theres this guy I won't mention his name which plays this game for a living, only that he doesn't get any money for it or anything beneficial really, only wasting his time playing this game. A thousand hours? More... Two thousand? A bit more... Between three and four thousand? That a boy! I hope that you can see my concernes regarding his health, if one of the developers reads this, please ban him and me from the game so I won't have to see this for my entire life again.
2/10 at most.

I loved this game for over 4 years, but the constant game bugs that never get fixed (if you report the bugs to the developers, you will be told basically the issue is your hardware & never the developers fault & the bug will never be fixed), and constant cash grabs by greedy developers have just ruined this game. There is even a bug in which you won’t be able to collect a certain mission while levelling your character that has never been fixed…& that was 2 years ago, with no fix in sight. ‘Free To Play’? HA!! This game is STRICKLY ‘Pay To Win’.
If you don’t have the power ‘flavour of the month’, or aren’t willing to pay real dollars to change to the power ‘flavour of the month’ ($10 US a pop btw), don’t bother going DPS (damage role). You won’t be able to get up, or get anywhere near the power ‘flavour of the month’s’ damage (not even if you have more skill points than them) which makes for an EXTREMELY toxic community, totally unbalanced game and a huge cash cow for Baybreak, who as far as I can tell, only want your money & don’t care at all about you or the game. The game is all about ‘skill points’. Skill points are used to give your character permanent stat increases which you can obtain by completing feats. So the more feats you complete, the more skill points you get which should make your character stronger right? Wrong. Like I said before, unless you have the power ‘flavour of the month’, don’t bother.
Pvp was good, until they changed it to accommodate for lag. Basically you have 1.3 seconds (not sure of exact times) to block or counter your opponent. It used to be if you were blocking, you were blocking, if you weren’t blocking, you weren’t blocking. Pretty simple rock, paper, scissors combat system, that is now completely broken. It is that broken that I don’t even bother with PVP anymore.
I’d recommend playing this game for a bit to check it out, and then go to something else. Don’t EVER pay ANYTHING for this game, it’s not worth it.

DC Universe™ Online is basicly a game were u can play as a hero or a villan both side's are slightly different but in my opinion the vilans are better because it's just a bit easyer to play as the bad guys but moving on. u get to customize a character and if u dont like the way a pieace equpment looks like but u like the stats of it there is 2 tab's in the menu, invintory and looks u can equip the stuff you like and still look how you want at the same time. but if you want to use full customization u have to buy some stuff first but u still have access to most stuff wile customizing a hero/villan. so i reccomend playing this game even if your a marvel fan play this game

First and formost it's a good game in all but there are some details that make it a flawed masterpeice.

The game is like zelda where you have to pay for a bigger rupee bag, which no one likes at all.

One of the good qualities is the missions although some can get repetitive are very fun.

The story it's self, is just... amazing gets a 4.5/5 in my book!

This is some rare hilarious bug I find where when jump crawling up buildings I can phase through them
which makes every time it happens funny as hell.

9/10 could be better still a good game keep up the good work DC.

Played this for a while and really like it. I dont play MMOs to much but I do like coming back to them once a year for a few weeks or months. I would like to say the same for this game but when I reinstalled it and loaded it up and logged in I was very happy to see my list of characters ....not there. I had to creat a new character and start over. once I got out of the first mission i looked to see the character list and there was my 2 characters waiting for me. They were resticted and I had to reactivate them for 15$ each. Are you joking? Im about to just uninstall this again and not come back because my hard work in this game is gone and the memories i had are gone. DCUO killed my heros and I wont start over and play the same missions over and over. ♥♥♥♥ that im out.

As a regular player of the game, I will go Schrodinger and not recommend the game while recommending it.

1 - If you intend never to spend any money on this game, don't play it for more than once per week. Endgame is seriously limited after you hit max level, specially as you can progress very quickly on that point. Conversely, subscribers might enjoy the game a lot, unless they allow very little to bother them.
2 - Do not queue publicly after Tier 4. Teams are horrible and, to add to that, refuse to acknowledge their own fault. I don't even bother trying to tell them that (I don't like pointing fingers at others), I play as a Healer (Hi, world, it's Combat Doctor here!) and I just stand there keeping my team alive and trying to keep myself out of trouble.
3 - Keep your voice chat off. Your ears will be very thankful.
4 - Play with friends.
5 - Don't bother about power customization if you want to play a damage role or any role whatsoever. Thanks to Advanced Mechanics, pratically all power customization has been thrown down the toilet. You can make custom builds, but they won't be nearly as effective as the cookie cutters.

Potential 10/10, currently 5/10 from me.

Used to be a fun game....then it was sold and Daybreak split off the powers from the content. But kinda didn't tell anyone for awhile.

So now it's still pretty much the same game, just 2x more expensive to buy DLC. Still fun, but I despise cash grabs.

I have at least 3k hours on this game as I didn't use it with steam until early last year. This game was also owned by SOE until about a year ago.

As it stands now; the game is fantastic.... until you hit 30... Then its unstable, pay to play(freemium), poorly maintained mess.

The core game was never intended to go past tier 2 raids, which ended 3 years ago. Classes have been dumbed down so much and removed a large portion of any skill factor the game had left. Bugs that have been in the game since launch persist. A dwindling, elitest(am somewhat guilty myself) community is not suited for new players. That and massive pay walls for any relativley new content + the ability to access features needed for upper tier content are a major turn off for a game rapidly loosing all appeal.

Daybreak did throw some life back in the game. More costume options and lair decor. But it simply stalls the realization that the game isn't fun anymore.

City of Heroes is dead (*sniff*). I like Champions Online, but it's a bit too cartoony (yes, I said that about a superhero game). So...DC Online. I bought it back when it first came out, and ran with a couple of villain and hero groups. Then put it away because, yeah, content is limited. And it still is. But for free, you can zip around Gotham and Metropolis for a month or so, level up a few chars, then quit when it gets grindy. A year and a half break and I'm back to enjoying it for its action combat and graphics. Dunno if I'm going to get serious about it again, but definitely worth taking a look.

I can honestly say after playing this game for over 600 logged hours through steam, I can honestly say this is a fun, and unique game. Yes there can be grinding, and yes you are limited by free to play. Premium is a little better which I am now, owning only a few DLC's packs, styles etc. Then there is Membership which has its perks, and is nice, but in my opinion not needed for fun. I bounce from premium, to member on and off, depending on how much time i wanna put in that particular month. If you are free to play you only get two character slots, but you can delete, and make new characters if you are into going a different path with a character. Premium you get six slots which is better, and of course membership you get more. Either way its a fun game, and I recommend especially if you are big DC Comic fan such as myself.

tl;dr = Buggy launcher, Buggy controls, no regard for free to play players. It's free so try it for yourself but don't expect much. I would recommend Champions online instead.

I first played DCUO way back at launch on ps3 and while it wasn't the best mmo ever and definitely wasn't as good as city of heroes. I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Back then I would have recommended it. Now however I definitely will not recommend it. First of all I couldn't even get it to install properly. The launcher would just randomly shut down without any warning while installing. I basically had to keep opening it, it would complete about 5% of the install and shut again but I kept going out of sheer nostalgia for this game.

Eventually I got the game installed and created a character it was only then the real troubles started. The game makes all free to play users wait in a queue to join the server. The estimated wait time was 2 and a half minutes however it took 10 minutes to get it only to be instantly booted back to character select. Another 10 minute wait and I was back in the prologue only to find that the controls were absolutely atrocious. My character wouldnt turn properly, instead he'd just kind of run forward and gradually turn round while still playing the forward run animation. Sort of like the tank controls from the old resident evil games. I don't know if its a bug but I certainly don't remember movement being that clunky back on ps3.

To make matters worse if you didnt move the camera while moving the character it would just flail wildy in random directions. Again I don't know if this is a bug or if they just messed up the controls when they ported it to pc. I tried searching online and found only one thread on steam of someone having this problem and absolutely zero solutions.

The flying controls seemed a lot more responsive so I tried to push forward only to have the camera completely disconnect from my character while i was flying. I made sure the auto follow setting was on but it didn't seem to help. It honestly felt like I was playing an alpha version of the game.

If you are a fan of DC then go ahead and try it. Maybe your experience will be a lot less buggy than mine but be smart and don't spend any money on this until you're sure it will work properly for you.

I am a huge fan of this game. Even with the limitations of free play, definitely worth the time put into it.
