With more extent, more fun, more surprises and much more Rufus Goodbye Deponia turns in the test not only as a fitting conclusion to the trilogy garbage planet - but also as one of the best adventures of recent years.
In terms of extent Goodbye Deponia has grown significantly compared to its predecessors, approximately twelve hours long, the showdown in the garbage planet. Much of it we can control all three Rufus clones in parallel, may at any time switch between them back and forth and even exchange items unless they are in the localities.
Only in the puzzle design then made the extra time travel component for a bit more complexity and around-the-corner-thinking potential. While rising thanks challenging puzzles chains around the three Rufusse (or Rufii?) The claim playful, but still let us missing journal entries or assistance to try in places loss as to what could be the next logical step well.
Moreover interrupt repeatedly mini-puzzle play the game flow, which can be at least skip by pressing a button. But that's whining at a high level, because the solutions are mean to be in logical - even if you have to create instead of normal logic rather rufus'sche standards: twisted, foolhardy, reckless or simply insane.
As always, the character models are stylish hand-drawn and animated relatively expensive. Ever exceeds the technical and artistic effort for the finals, the first two parts series by far. There are more scenes, more animated cutscenes, more Rufusse and more vocal performances accompanying of the narrator.
I love the Daedalic games that under their childish silly bubble surface usually very adult themes: loss, responsibility or fear of failure. overestimation, self-sacrifice and self-knowledge. Or to release the processing of relationship stress and difficult art. This makes Goodbye Deponia not only a very good Adventures, but in my eyes also an outstanding game. Because it's more than just a game.
