Rogue Legacy is a genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero.

Each time you die, your child will succeed you. Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might have vertigo-- they could even be a dwarf.

That's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be perfect to win this game. But you do have to be pretty darn good because this game is HARD. Fortunately, every time you die all the gold you've collected can be used to upgrade you manor, giving your next child a step up in life and another chance at vanquishing evil.

But you shouldn't listen to me. You should check out the trailer. It explains the game better then I ever could.

我喜歡 roguelike,但前提是不要太刁難,人物要有足夠的成長性
Rogue Legacy 前期賺錢有點困難,但耐玩度夠,探索的感覺也很棒
遺傳特質的設計非常有趣,是本作的強大魅力
人物的成長空間跟活用方式也很不錯,是個合我口味的 roguelike

唯一的缺點為職業平衡 & 魔法
垃圾職業太多,初中期還有 Shinobi / Hokage 可以用高攻擊力撐,後期根本只有 Barbarian 能存活比較久,
遊戲非常吃技術,裝備跟技能樹點再高都很難 cover 技術,
只有血量爆表的 Barbarian 能提高一些容錯率
魔法相關的職業都只能吃土,因為魔法就是爛,難用

整體來說還是超級推薦在 -75% 的時候購入
耐玩、流暢、趣味性滿點,有手把的話更推薦了

非常有趣的遊戲,隨機的人物特性跟地圖讓挑戰充滿了樂趣XD
探索、戰鬥、小挑戰、蓋房子,rougelike類型中動作遊戲的優秀作品!
要說問題的話就是新的remix bosses真的難到太過分了...

Well one word sums up this game and that is "ASTOUNDING",it really is that good.
I started to play the game expecting it to be good (after reading reviews and listening to my friends opinions i thought i would enjoy it) but wasent ready for it to be the game i eventually came to really have a love hate relationship with (but in a good way).
You start of at the entrance to the castle and you are the first descendant and you walk in thinking "COME ON I CAN TAKE ON ANYTHING" 10 descendants later your like "OMG THIS GAME ISNT THAT EASY".
But as you wade through and lose more characters you eventually come to realise that this is the aim of the game and that death isnt a stumbling block but a means of progression as every time you die you leave the castle and then spend the coins you have ammased,therefore your character gets better on every new life and the game gets that little bit easier.
Eventually you will beat the game and go "I BEAT YOU",but then here it comes NG+ and then the game really starts.
The enemies are tougher the bosses are harder (sometimes to the point of frustration) and its basically like you have started the game from the beggining again.
The sounds and music in game are great,the graphics really suit the game and compliment it in fact and overall the gameplay is fair and balanced to the point that you realise that every mistake you make is yours and not the game cheating you at all (might feel that way but trust me all deaths are your fault).
Anyway in closing if you dont own this game "WHY NOT" its been cheap enough in the sales to make it a definate purchase and even at full price is still one of the best GEMS on STEAM at the moment.

In a sea of permadeath progression games, Rogue Legacy hits a really cool and versatile niche that both hardcore enthusiasts and newcomers can enjoy. Whichever protagonist you choose out of three randomised options, know this: you will die eventually, be it to traps, minibosses, the area-bosses or the varying fauna in any of the four zones you must explore. Fear not, however, because your family's lineage will be furthered by each respawn, and the gold you hoard on every adventure can be spent on stats and equipment improval. Every run is different, and both the personal traits of your heroes (varying from drawbacks such as myopia to perks like regaining mana from breaking miscellaneous items) and the ever-shifting dungeon architecture get randomised into interesting scenarios that demand different approaches, clever tactics and quick reflexes. Alternate boss fights, New Game+ content and hidden classes will add quite a few hours to an incredibly addictive experience coated in a toon fantasy setting that looks pretty much like a cross between Prehistorik and Castlevania.

Buy it if you:
Enjoy indie Metroidvania titles with RPG elements sewn in
Like riding the line between dying and progression
Prefer light humor and nostalgic sidescrolling misadventures to the cinematic polish of modern AAA titles

DO NOT buy it if you:
Get easily frustrated and think dodging should be done via quick-time events
Expect an elaborate narrative
Want 3D in your games

《Rogue Legacy》雖然寫成 Rogue,但是讀做 Grind。

《Rogue Legacy》是一款 2D 平台動作遊戲,遊戲的目標是在打敗城堡中數名頭目,挑戰最終魔王。

概念上的確有 Roguelike 的要素,像是隨機產生角色、永久死亡和隨機產生的關卡,但《Rogue Legacy》有繼承的要素,玩家必須累積金錢來升級角色的基本能力和解鎖其他隨機產生的角色職業,這佔了遊戲中大部分的內容。

而關卡設計上有很多惱人的點,使得玩家不得不累積/強化角色的基本能力才能過關,許多情況都是以換血為攻略手段,到後期敵方血量和傷害愈來愈高,且數量遠超出玩家所能負荷的量,讓玩家不得不繼續刷錢來升級能力,不斷循環。

遊戲中的角色特性倒是挺有趣的設定,除了每個職業有各自特殊的能力,像聖騎士(Paladin)能夠消耗魔力來抵擋攻擊,野蠻王/后(Barbarian King/Queen)則可以怒吼將周圍的敵人震飛,並且清除敵方飛行物;除了職業,還有角色另外的屬性,這些屬性多半是引用醫學上的名詞,像是強迫症(O.C.D.)這個屬性讓玩家能夠在摧毀物品時獲得魔力,過動症(ADHD)則讓角色移動速度上升等等。

遊戲本身的機制和平台動作相當扎實,但刷錢在遊戲中佔了很重要的一部分,大大抹殺了 Roguelike 的樂趣,玩家重複多次就會發現許多相同的關卡套路和偏好選用的隨機產生角色職業與特性。

順帶一提 UI 上有點費解,要離開遊戲必須要從設定選單中選取,而不是一般習慣的 Esc 暫停選單來離開遊戲。

優點:
- 扎實的平台動作
- 有趣的職業/特性設定

缺點:
- Roguelike 的要素並沒有確實的發揮
- 關卡設計導致注重刷錢刷裝備升級
