I got this game expecting it to run on my high end gaming laptopwhich it does.... for about 5 minutes then crashes i have gone through tech support through ubisoft and they just said it was never optimised for gaming laptop hardware. I see a big issue with this because I can run every other game on highest detail max cpu usage everything and have yet to have issues with them but this onehas dropped the ball hard on they're hardware support. I love this game i play it all the time at my brothers, so thats why i got it for pc, I have a gaming laptop built for high detail games i should not be having these kind of issues. But in short It is a great game just Ubisoft has just got to work on thier hardware support Because its ridicilous.

Understand that it is an arcade racer. You have a big variety of cars and a huge map to drive around in.

Summary: Good game 8/10 I'd recommend waiting for a small sale at least before purchasing.

Pros:
+ Giant open world
+ Fully Voiced and Subtitled story (40 Hrs for me)
+ Multitude of different game modes
+ Good Graphics (for not much Processing Power)
+ Month long "Summit" events from the WildRun DLC that end in free cars being given out (Mazda MX-5 Miata At the time of this review)
+ Multiple Specs/Classes of cars (6 Vanilla; 9 Wildrun)
+ Fairly Detailed Customization (Bumpers, Hoods, Rims, Paint, etc.)
+ Rewards for exploration (ie. Hidden Cars)
+ Nice Community
+ Multiple real world race tracks of different styles and uses
+ Good Controller compatability and Rebindable keys

Cons:
- Most of the map is vacant forest area which is hard to cross at any speed
- Off the Specs/Classes of cars that you are given a few of them you can't change anything on your car except paint, rims, and interior colors
- Some of the game modes can get very repetative and the game might start to feel like a grind at times
- The Story is a little short in my opinion for the size of the game especially the map
- PvP can be very difficult for players who don't have higher leveled cars/bikes
- The Physics is not very good (ie. if you see a rock, Avoid it. You will be sent flying or crash no matter what car you're driving.)
- Bikes are very difficult to control with just a keyboard
- The AI in this game is not very smart and can be very stupid at times (for example the longer the police chase you the easier they are to lose no matter the wanted level; or if there is a very obvious shortcut the AI will just go the normal way; or even if you get close to a pedestrian they wil jump away even if you aren't moving, they also repeat the same dialog options)
- Microtransactions (Need I say more?)
- Only the lower 48 US states (No Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, or Mexico)
- Some major cities have been completely forgoten about (ie. San Diego, Phoenix, Portland, etc.)
- No Realism in terms of Physics
- Lots of Complaints of unreliability and glitches

Conclusion:
Would I recommed this game? Yes. Why? Because it is a unique game with some querks and drawbacks but overall if you are at all into racing games I would recommend picking it up especially if it's on sale.

Verdict:
8/10

The Crew has its ups and downs. I can't quite recommend it, but it's worth picking up when on a deep sale.

First off, the main character is an utter and complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Normally this isn't a big deal, but the combination of hipster look (thick rim glasses and babyface beard to start with), juvenile "badass" nature, and above and beyond white knight philosphy make him a character that's a huge cringe to follow. And as is the case with a game like this, there's no meaningful characters or plot to really make it redeemable. I wouldn't even bother mentioning this if he wasn't constantly thrust in front of you before every mission, whining about something.

The physics of a racing game are paramount to whether the game will be enjoyable or not. And The Crew bounces around in this area. Going off road feels slightly slippery in some car classes, along with a large amount of speed lost. In fact it feels like you get a speed cap when you go offroad more than the terrain is actually factoring into the slow down. Being on road seems to have a similar cap. Turning and other physics can be best described as semi-arcade. This isn't Need For Speed and you won't be drifting around turns, at least not quickly. But this also isn't demanding like Forza. It's a nice design that makes a fun time for an evening where you just want some lazy racing.

You've got a few classes of cars to use, where each car can be in a couple of those classes. It sounds like a nice variety, but you become deeply conservative about car choice because you'll be extremely limited on funds the whole game. The cars themselves are pretty standard fare and licensed. It is interesting to see a Mustang go from a street mod racer to an offroad rally car to a monster truck (for DLC The Run), but that novelty will either be rare or you will have grinded or purchased premium currency to make it worthwhile to play with.

Plot and story are shallow. Main character's brother gets shot. Main character gets accused and put away for years. FBI wants him to bust another agent and has him get on the good side of his old gang, which no longer recognizes him even though his own brother built it up and ran it. You do some racing, move up in the ranks, half the time getting threatened to be killed, and seek revenge for a death that you pretty much don't care about with a character you just can't sympathize with. Other characters you meet are equally shallow. Basic, generic characters that have specif talents and knowledge that you use them for.

There's a lot of content to explore in the game. It takes a long time to drive one coast to the other, which isn't quite the route the game takes you. More of a clockwise path from the midwest. And along the way there's a range of activities to follow. Skill gates that have you do various activies such as slolam between markers or try to stay on a given path that gradually thins as you succeed are dotted all across the map. Hidden cars can be found once you have all the parts of a specific one in each region. Radar stations allow you to see locations you haven't spotted. And many, many events to take part in between story and a few smatterings of missions that need to be done to "gain enough rep" to move on.
You primarily move on by gaining levels, getting better parts for your cars which also run based on levels, and progressing the story.

Even with that, something about the game feels so empty. A lobby of people that can be anywhere on the map has been, in my experience, lacking any objective. Police activity is rare. In fact trying to hunt down a chase is a pretty fruitless endeavor, and the chases are standard fare, leaning to the easier end. You'll move into a pattern of doing some mission, doing some events to get some better car parts, maybe a little exploring, then back to the grind. This isn't a bad thing usually, but there's something about The Crew that you just can't place why it feels so empty, even when its brimming with some interesting gameplay. There isn't any motivation to pursue the story in of itself and halfway through the game you already know what's coming.

It's not worth full price, but consider grabbing it on a Steam sale. Just watch out for the premium currency concerns as well. They're not needed if you are careful or don't mind grinding.

If you looking for an arcade style racing game you better play this than any of NFS games after Underground 1-2/Carbon/Pro Street.

*Huge world with thousands of places to visit. Never race the same track again.
*Open gameplay. Play the story, PVP, global tournament series, challanges, faction wars or just go and start chasing random people in the world. You chose to go single player, multiplayer or both. All in the same game.
*Many different car types plus bikes all with specific race types and different strenghts/weaknesses (street, race, drift, drag, dirt, monster truck, etc)

If you still not sure because of the mixed reviews wait for a sale and in worst case you can get a refund, but trust me in less than two hours it will suck you in.

Im rating this as a positive review because i had alot of fun at first.

I really like car games, however, the crew does not have even remotely realistic physics. If you are looking for a game that is even slightly realistic, I urge you, go elsewhere. If you are looking for an openworld cruising/racing arcade style car game, this may be fun for you.

There are so many problems in this game that I am not going to list them all but here are some of them:
a)Cars feel like they are floating through corners, drifting is nearly impossible even with a drift kit (you have to buy one before you can drift for more than a few feet) due to the fact that the game doesnt rely on a realistic physics engine for drifting, i.e. loss of traction to the rear wheels (or all four for AWD) instead it chooses a 'brake to drift' style, simply turn and hope for the best.
b) Cars take forever to upgrade, and the process isnt exciting, you simply do a single jump over and over, 10s of 100s of times, untill you get what parts you want. This process is comepletely random, no matter how skilled you are at the game or how high of a score you get, you will get the same thing, at total random.
c) The Physics for offroading and jumps is absolutely trash. You can flip your car at the slightest provocation, and it is not consistent at all. One second, you can drive right over a large boulder with ease. The very next second, a tiny rock will somehow flip your whole car. Also, you cannot continue to roll back over while still in the air (barrel roll), so if the car flips it counts as a wreck, even if you would have landed correctly.

Honestly, if you like car games that give you control over your car, wait for Forza Horizon 3. Its just over a month and a half away. do yourself a favor here.

The Crew has been a great game and have given me great time for me and my friends... the Never drive alone concept is the first reason that made me buy this even after a long time... but still there is more room for improvement and i know that Ubisoft will take the necessary steps to do so.. it is all in all a great game to enjoy in this massive multiplayer with a huge map to roll in... thank you Ubisoft for giving us a game to remember for a long and to enjoy it...

30 hours in and I still have much to do.

The world is so damn big and traveling from point A to point B is not boring at all since the world is full of different challenges for fast and agile cars. Upon completing these challenges, you earn parts for your car. If you don't need the parts, you can send it to your garage which will allow you to build up another car in the future.

Story missions have you racing against time, destroying crates of supplies, catching up to an NPC and making them crash, and more.

This game has car builds for dirt, street, drift, raid, and circuit racing. I probably forgot one, but that list should show you that this game is the whole package.

Jumping online with friends is as easy as meeting up at a certain location and grouping up. Most of the campaign can be completed with a friend.

Warning about DLC:
"Wild Run" is a DLC pack. You do not need it to enjoy this game, but you will occasionally run into cars and missions unavailable, but don't worry about it. I've been doing just fine without it, but I will pick it up on a sale because I definitely want this game to last even longer.

INTRODUCTION

The Crew, a game made by Ivory Tower which are former Test Drive developers, Test Drive was a good game loved by many so everyone had alot of high expectations for The Crew (very high expectations) which is why some people were disappointed, for over-hyping this.

That doesn't mean The Crew is bad though, it's an open world (very open world with no invisible walls, except a huge wall beside Mexico) racing game, it has a story , official cars with a wide variety, replayability, but you may ask "Isn't it once you finish The Crew it's done?" yes it does, BUT , you can buy very low level cars and feel like it's a new run again.

CARS
I think we all had huge hopes for good cars, Ivory Tower didn't fail us...
The game has around 40-130 cars (I couldn't find an exact number, these are the lowest and highest numbers of cars people told me about) , It has a huge variety of manufacturers going from Spyker to Lamborghini to Fiat ect.
It's got all the cars we love, all the popular and even forgotten car manufactureres.
You get "Specs" which are modifications for your vehicles, the specs are: Fullstock, Street , Dirt , Performance , Raid , Circuit. With DLC: Drift , Monster truck , Drag , Cops.

STORY
Nothing special, it's a racing game it doesn't require an in-depth story but we got one, without it the game would be a little odd but luckly we got one.
You and your brother belong to the street racing network 5-10, it's illegal but popular, you and your bro go to meet the top dog, he kills your brother but you were accused of it as the cop leader was bribed with ALOT of money, you were sent to jail for about 5 years until you're partnered undercover with the cops, climbing the ladder to the top, going through leaders of spec vehicles , making them your friends until eventually, you're on the top with the killer, you confront him in a club, about to shoot him but you're smart enough not to, you do one last race with him, defeat him and he disappears, the cop leader gets jailed and you live happily ever after.

OPEN WORLD
The world is completely open, no invisible walls, nothing.
You see a cliff in the playable area, you can go to it, the world is detailed and intresting , with sadly few easter eggs but fun ones, the world has some real race tracks and cities, the world is huge and it would take some time following 1 specific road from one end of the map to the other.

GRAPHICS
They're nice, especially in photo mode (check my profile for some screenshots), but they're pretty demanding, on my overclocked GTX 950 2gb vram I can run with SSAO+ , FXAA and mostly high settings at 60fps mostly at all times.
Photo mode is beautiful, fell in love with it.

PHYSICS
They're weird, your car is stuck to the ground which is sadly annoying (can't go crazy with cliffs) but for overall driving feels good, you can play on "normal, sport , hardcore" modes which enable tc, disable tc ect.
Drifting feels good, racing at high speeds does, collision is choppy but can deal with it.

Enourmous map, decent story, lots of challenges, 5 mystery vehicles, and massive community. It's pretty much Need for Speed World with bigger map and better grapphics. if you're looking for a game that both will challenge your skills and kill your time, this might be one of your options.
