About This Content

Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior is a massive expansion pack for the best First-Person Slasher, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Featuring competitive online combat that seeks to capture the experience of truly being on a medieval battlefield. Inspired from the intensity and epicness of swordfighting movies such as 300, Gladiator and Braveheart, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare aims to bring that experience to the hands of a gamer.

And now Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior will bring the most iconic warriors from the ancient world, epic new environments and all new game modes to the already expansive base game content.

Every environment is an iconic homeland of one of the warrior factions. Fight in ancient Greek temples, kicking people into pits as a Spartan or run along moonlit roofs as a Ninja in a bamboo forest. Who is the DEADLIEST WARRIOR? Its time for YOU to decide.

Key Features:

  • All new classes including: Samurais, Spartans, Vikings, Knights, Ninjas and Pirates
  • Faster, more diverse game play makes Chivalry 1st person melee combat even more intense
  • Each warrior has a unique arsenal and abilities, which promotes more variety in play styles and forces players to adapt their strategy to the situation.
  • All new weapons and animations
  • 6 new environments, playable in many different game modes
  • New Game mode "Multi-team" - up to 6 teams at once!
  • Track your skills and stats in the new player profile screen

MINI REVIEW – CHIVALRY: DEADLIEST WARRIOR (DLC)

Details
Developer: Torn Banner Studios / 345 Games
Genre: First-person slasher / Multi-player
Release year: 2013

The Good
☺6 new classes with new weapons and abilities
☺Much more variety in faster paced combat
☺Once again, very well composed music and funny voice acting

The Bad
☹Very bad team balancing
☹Lack of maps and good gamemodes to keep the DLC replayable
☹DLC shares the same technical issues as main game

Worth Noting
  • Tough for new players. One of those "easy to play, hard to master" -games.
  • Steam doesn't show my real playtime on this 'game' as it's technically a DLC.

The Verdict
Personal Rating: "Grab it during a sale"
Traditional Rating: 6/10

Regardless of what people say I absolutely enjoy this game and the depth it offers. A faster paced game than it's predecessor it provides variety through its 6 classes and multiple weapons. A true challenge to get any good at, this game will probably eat away weeks of your life as you try to unlock everything

I still remember the first times I played this game and I knew right from the start that this is a high quality game that would keep me coming back for more. The game has 'more' mechanics than CMW (different damage at different parts of the weapon release, more classes, and faster pace) offerring a higher skill ceiling for advanced players. Kicks aren't totally useless like in CMW,comboing with spears, if you accidently panic and parry before you should then you can jump out of danger instead always getting hit by the enemy that sees your panic parry, and many more differences for CMW that add to my gameplay experience.

An utterly broken mess of a game that takes everything that was good about the base game and turns it on its head, introducing new bugs and glitches, downgrading the server quality and having been more or less abandoned by the devs (long standing known exploits which the devs have failed to fix means you can expect to see people glitch outside the map on Fjord almost every match, for instance).

The expansion's combat mechanics are fist-clenchingly, rage-inducingly broken and follow little logic from the base game. Terrible hit detection and an even worse spawning system result in almost every death being a cheap one, with little you can do to improve next time. The sense of learning is largely overshadowed by cheap and nonsensical game design.

There are 2 or 3 classes that overpower the rest, and 2 or 3 loadouts that are abhorrently, brokenly OP.

This was a cash-in with the Deadliest Warrior TV show. That should tell you something. Torn Banner made a few skins on their already existing game for little effort and cashed in a nice check from the Spike Network.

In my short time with the expansion I also witnessed 3 hackers (I assume there are many more, if it was that easy to find these in the 3 days I played).

It will be fun for the first few hours while you unlock stuff. After that it's all downhill FAST. I hope I don't get tempted to touch this again and I hope you don't either.

I'm not usually this critical, having been able to find value in even Chivalry: Medieval Warfare with all its glitches and other problems. But oh boy, if you thought Medieval Warfare had problems, wait 'til you try this one! (Just don't).

This DLC though might look fun it is NOT. Sure it has fixed few bugs of it's original, but it has plenty of thers. The mode offers basically 6 maps and that is it. You wont even be able to play the maps of the original (why? because Torn banner doesn't care about the game). Team balance DOES NOT EXIST. When the match starts unlimited number of people can go to one team and well you might be the only person in the opposite team (and I see this happen A LOT). The next "best" thing about this game (and this DLC) is that blocking sometimes work sometimes doesn't (mostly 50/50), the classes are very unbalanced and oh lets not forget those game exploiters. Around half of the players of this game are exploiters, the other half is trying to learn exploiting so that they could do it in the future and that way get some kills.

Verdict: 5/10

I basically play this game just because I bought it and don't want my money to be completely wasted.

The Spartans are extremely insincere in their apologies. Quote: "I'm doarry! You shoulda ducked!"
There are Vikings which is great.

This game is addictive, pretty bloody, and overall a very enjoyable product.

You DO need Medieval Warfare for this, which sucks. They couldn't make a standalone or something?

Anyway, you can choose between different classes, and as far as I am concerned, customization and weapons select is improved from MW, as you can actually see the weapons and cosmetics BEFORE playing a game.

The combat is a mixed bag for me, though. The original, in my opinion, had a problem with actually hitting an oponent, especcially at range. I almost never played Archer for this. Although the introduction of certain classes (Pirate, for example) has definitely improved the ranged combat, the melee combat seems to have suffered in return. I ALWAYS had a problem with actually hitting an oponent, and I'm starting to wonder whether or not the hit detection in the game is bad, or maybe the lag. My ping seems to spiral out of control at the worst of times for the weirdest of reasons, even though I SHOULD be able to handle the game.

Despite this, I think this game is worth a look, if you can get past some gameplay faults and maybe the ridiculous ping increases.
