"A great game in the Source Engine which has a very interesting multiplayer mode with a pretty decent Singleplayer mode to match, worth to get in a sale."

Changes to The Ship packages

Hi everyone,

We've made a few changes to The Ship packages on the Steam store, which I've outlined below.

Single Player
The single player game was previously sold as a separate package, as well as being included in the Complete Package. However, a number of users reported problems with the single player as a standalone game and as we were unable to resolve these issues, we've remove the option to buy the single player by itself.

Anyone who purchased the single player game without the multiplayer game, now should be able to claim the Complete Package for free (which should resolve issues playing the single player).

If you have any problems with this, the please leave a comment here.

Free Copies
Previously, if you purchased the Complete Package, you received additional gift copies to send to friends. While we understand that some people made full use of these, our stats show that most people didn't.

For this reason, we've removed the free copy promotion from the package - when you buy The Ship now, you'll only get 1 copy of the game.

Price
To reflect these changes, we've permanently reduced the price of the Complete Package from $19.99 to $9.99.

UPDATED - 19/12/14

Hi everyone,

I've read through your comments and passed them onto the team. We appreciate your frustrations with this and will certainly try to give you more heads up if there are changes in the future.

Just to explain, our goal for 2015 is to do what we can to improve the experience players have with The Ship. There's a lot of things we can't do - see here for a background on our licencing constraints.

But one thing we can do is to try to increase the average number of people playing at any one time (and if you check Steam Charts, this has been improving lately). This improves the experience of the multiplayer game for everyone that's playing.

The main feedback we had from players was that the price was too high, so that's why we've dropped it by 50%. It wasn't an easy decision as this could siginificantly impact our revenue, but it was the right thing to do and we're confident that the price is a good one.

With regards the gift copies, our data shows that very few of them were redeemed. It wasn't having a significant impact on the number of people playing the game - in fact we believe that the higher priced "5 pack" was putting off more people playing than it was attracting new players.

We'll look at introducing an additional 3 or 5 pack for people who want that option. (Valve needs to set this up so it's unlikely to be before January).

Thanks,
- the Blazing Griffin team

Reviews

“its gameplay and design draw on everything from Poirot to Quake, with even a slightly unhealthy dose of The Sims thrown into the mix - but the game is much more than the sum of its well worn parts”
8 – Videogamer

“Unlike a lot of its hybrid predecessors, this multigenre multiplayer game really is something completely different. While the game draws on identifiable sources such as Quake, The Sims, and Clue, it mashes these elements together with a few new ideas to create an innovative experience that doesn't play like any of its inspirations.”
8.3 – Gamespot

“the game twists around the Clue formula to make it a little more interesting. Instead of having to uncover a killer, The Ship makes you the killer. The main gameplay mechanic revolves around finding your target, called your quarry, and breaking their face as stealthily as possible. To do so there are plenty of lethal odds-and-ends to wield, and even some environmental traps. It's certainly a quirky take on first-person gaming, but it's an entertaining one once you get the hang of it.”
7.4 – IGN

About This Game

For PC gamers who enjoy multiplayer games with a bit of intelligence, intrigue and ingenuity, The Ship is a murder mystery alternative to traditional FPS multiplayer games. Each player is given a Quarry to kill - and must evade their own Hunter in the process, all set on board a series of 1920s art deco cruise ships.

The Ship is owned by the mysterious Mr X and as one of many 'lucky' recipients of a free ticket you arrive on board The Ship to find there's a catch to your luxury cruise. You are coerced into a brutal Hunt to indulge Mr. X's fantasies, under threat of death for not only yourself, but also your family. Your only chance to save yourself and your family is to play the Hunt and win.

Combining stealthy multiplayer action and a needs system, The Ship is a truly unique gaming experience.

This package includes a tutorial, The Ship Single Player, which introduces you to some gameplay mechanics and storyline, and The Ship Multiplayer where you can hunt and be hunted by other players.

I was in TeamSpeak with a couple of my friends and one of them was my quarry.

My quarry went and hid inside one of the toilets. After a while he wanted to leave, but there was a random guy blocking his exit.

So I looked over the shoulder of the random guy and shot my friend in the face with the Blunderbuss.

I shot him straight back onto the toilet, and the random guy walked in and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on his corpse.

10/10.

BUY THIS GAME RIGHT NOW! O.O This game is so much fun if you do it right. Just got it today and I've been playing it for like 4 hours, and it's spiffing awesome. If you like multiplayer and/or espionage games, this is for you.

EDIT: Even though there's apparently no servers anymore, this game is still really fun to play on Arcade Mode.

The Ship is a very fun game, to an extent. The Single Player version of the game is okay but can get annoying at times. However, if you're playing with a friend, this game can almost never get boring, especially with the different game modes.

Really fun at all. It is challenging when your rival is disguise himself so you can't find him easily and it is more difficult when you have to avoid witnesses or police officers.

Totally worth my money.

An amazingly made game which should definitely be noticed. It revolves around a ship which is suspiciously marooned or something, away from any chance of rescue. The strange Mr. X - the complete leader of the ship with a strange kind of Russian accent - orders the ship's passengers to kill or be killed.

You get a quarry to kill in the Multiplayer. But there's a twist... you're being hunted. And so the main aim is to stay alive with the Sim-like twist you have to fulfil your needs so you don't die of having to go to the ♥♥♥♥ or starve.

In the Singleplayer, you're tasked with incredibly unique missions, and eventually you will complete the game.

One-of a kind.

Moje česká recenze: http://www.playhit.cz/2015/01/ship-opomijeny-deathmatch/

The ship is a great experience, especially with friends. It has some of the most hilarious ways how to kill a fellow passanger, like closing them into a freezer or throwing an umbrella at them. It's a better hunting simulator than other actual hunting simulators out there :D. In the beginning of the round, you get a name of your quarry and your future murdurer gets your name. It's only up to you to escape and still kill your victim. All that while managing your human needs. The insecurity and distrust is incredible, if you use teamspeak during the game and it reaches the fun level of Trouble in Terrorist town mod. The ship is great fun but doesn't offer much replayability, only if you really fancy it I guess or have 20 friends who do, because the servers are sadly very empty these days, playing with the AI is decent though 8/10

This game is stupid amounts of fun. It's best if you hop on with a good size group of friends. There is a bit of a learning curve on how to make the bookoo points but if you get really into it winning wont matter.

The Ship is a game which takes the general idea of FPS Multiplayer games and puts a great twist to it, at only $10 the ship is one of the best and most fun games I have ever played. I would highly reccommend this to anyone.

The ship. A quite unique kind of stealth elimination game, get close to your enemies and then backstab then with a frying pan or a manequin arm.....
It is hell of alot of fun, killin people here and there without getting cought by the Police, but if u do have money u can also add the strategy in this game , why?
Well bribe the cop and kill everything u see xD .
The game is kind of hard to master but after that it is a pleasure for both eyes and mind!
Only con is : A small number of servers with enough people to play with.
But i used game tracker and i found 2,3 servers which i had loads of fun on! xD

Like the time i was takeing a sh** and got killed by Bin Laden ..... Best part : I was Bush .

11/10 would get killed by Bin Laden again while takeing a sh**

No one plays this game and it gets lonely playing alone. It's a shame, it would be enjoyable if the multiplayer was maxed out. Abandon ship at full price, all aboard if it goes on sale.

Me and my friends enjoyed the game at first, but eventually, seeing as we're the only people on board besides dumb NPCs, noticed how easy it was to figure out who was going after who and how. The game gets boring quickly in single and multi-player. It could use some intelligent NPCs that you can hide amongest and plan differently is the biggest thing I can say about it. It was fun, but it needs more work.
