Who I would recommend this game to:
Anybody looking for a challenge and a great online experience.

My rating: 10/10

Review: Counter-Strike: Source is a late predecessor of current generation First Person Shooters that has adopted and retained mechanics that are reminiscent of its former titles in the series. The level of skill required to master the game is in most aspects to a higher difficulty than that of other FPS games. Accompanying the base game, community made modifications including maps, skins or game modes can be found in the server browser. Unlike other common games however, Counter-Strike does not award players constantly with rewards or achievements nor does it have a leveling system. For a game made 10 years ago, the quality in development and execution is tremendous. These characteristics are reverberated throughout each of the Counter-Strike games and thus makes it one of my most favourite series of all.

There's something to be said for this game, and by extension this entire series. It's a game that's part of the old breed that has survived the decade and has mostly retained its visceral, gunfighter esque, snappy gameplay with an underlying competitve element that forces the player to outthink hos opponent first and outreact themt to a lesser degree. Everyone is a teamplayer, and if you're not, the magic of this game is that it forces you to, for a lack of better words, get good at it, and because of that it propels the user to try and stand toe to toe with veterans and new blood alike on an almost punishingly level ground. Counter Strike Source is by far the most popular varaint of the Counter Strike series, for the good reason that past the core elements of the game from rescuing hostages to defusing (or planting) bombs, there's much more user created content that this game owes its engine too. This game is a must have, because if not for the forever relevent competitive scene, it's for the bhop maps, zombie escapes, jail breaks, mini games, and for the ability to get a game wit hthe Source Engine SDK.

It's not a game that has aethestically kept with time, but its forumla has, and I bet that it will outlive even the juggernauts of the younger Call of Duty and Battlefield titles. This is a game of not reqarding the player with trinkets such as new guns or new faces to wear, but of self satisfaction of beating out an entire enemy team in a clutch move and bringing down the hurt with a well earned AWP. That runs deep, and this game will never make you forget that the only thing seperating you from acing with a Deagle and viewing your team fro ma spectators seat is your own skill.

If you like FPS a lot, this is a good game for you. I personally can't enjoy it too much as I'm a bad aimer, but there's still other gamemodes out there (Gun game, for example, but those are pretty aim-based as well). I can, however, definitely see what so much people like about this game.
So, the conclusion, if you like FPS, are good at it, and don't mind some rage when you die, definitely get this. (or get CS:GO)
