About This Game

In Game Dev Tycoon you replay the history of the gaming industry by starting your own video game development company in the 80s. Create best selling games. Research new technologies and invent new game types. Become the leader of the market and gain worldwide fans.

A journey through gaming history

Start in the 80s
Start your adventure in a small garage office in the 80s. Enjoy the hand-crafted level design while you develop your first simple games. Gain experience, unlock new options and create your first game engine.

Create games your way
In Game Dev Tycoon the decisions you make during development really matter. Decide which areas you want to focus on. Does your game need more gameplay or should you focus more on quests? These decisions will have a major impact on the success of your game.

Grow your company
Once you have successfully released a few games you can move into your own office and forge a world-class development team. Hire staff, train them and unlock new options.

Make larger more complex games
With experience and a good team, you can release larger, more complex games. Larger games bring new challenges and you will have to manage your team well to deliver hit games.

Easily one of the most addicting games I've ever played. Once I start, I probably won't stop for the next 2 hours. This is a great debut game for Greenheart. 9/10.

FAST REVIEW
  • Graphics : 17/20
  • Soundtrack : 17/20
  • Gameplay : 18/20
  • Lifetime : 16/20
  • PC requirement : 19/20
  • Price : 8.99€
total : ☑ 17,5/20

COMPLETE REVIEW
  • Graphics : fesh graphics but too simple, making the game very repetitivegraphismes clairs mais pas très poussé ce qui le rend répétifif
  • Soundtrack : cool soundtrack,immersive but repetitive
  • Gameplay : Pleasant gameplay, very easy to learn. it's not hard to master the game's mechanics when you get used to them. the steam workshop is here to reinforce the original content that gets pretty boring after a few hours.
  • Lifetime : fun to play, until you accomplished most of the thing and get to a point where you can just try not to lose what you did. can get pretty boring. (average community playtime : 12.8h)
  • PC requirement : runs on anything.
  • Price : The price is ok for the content and the lifetime
  • ☒ : the game is too repetitive on many traits
Conclusion : theme rare sur steam, very addictive if you take the time to play it, the content is simple but well used. and the steam worksphop is here to bring you many mods, like new consoles, other possibilities, maybe someday a working online mode.

Hey. I just wanted to say thet GDT is a well made game which offers endless hours of fun. It's a cheap game worth every single penny you spend on it. I would recommend the game if you are looking for something that can help you relax and calm your mind in your spare time. It is one of those games that you can turn on for 30 minutes, come back a week later and still find it fun.

I love simple, one-scene indies like this. Unfortunately this and Coporation Inc (free online) are the only ones I know of like this.

It's a great game, but it can be annoyingly short when you get good. I can't imagine it would have been THAT much harder to write twice the story and have a bit more content. It definitely has some replay value, but at the same time after you've played it a few times, you've pretty much taken all courses through the game and seen the best and the worst of it, so after a few replays it no longer has value.

Fun while revealing the details it becomes stale after long playing times.

This game is definitely worth playing for ~40 or ~50 hours, beyond that it gets a bit dull. Avoid wikis until later to get the most out of the novelty of discovery that is this games most entertaining bit.

-I make more TPS games and less RTS
-Year 15
-TPS becomes FPS
-5 games later
-Online play released
-Zombies mode released
-Makes FPS into MMO
-Makes 60 expansions
-Year 57
-MMO still on market
-180 expansions
-I get a hardware lab finally
-Console is built to play MMO
-Keeps making expansions for MMO, never makes another game
-Year 106
-100th Anniversary of the series (including RTS, FPS, and TPS)
-Makes console in honour
-Releases grPad edition
-Flops
-Goes bankrupt

Game Dev Tycoon is a cute and witty take on the video game development process. There is a certain level of addiction the game instills in the player, pushing you to continue to develop new titles or create new businesses to try and squeeze out the best review scores ensuring a steady stream of sales which equates to more cash for your little simulated development company.

The pacing works well and gives you roughly 6-8 hours of play time for the 30 years you get to play. Once you reach the end the game does allow you to keep going, but no more story elements unfold (nothing beyond the PS4 and next Xbox).

If you can find Game Dev Tycoon on sale on Steam it’s certainly worth picking up.

THE GOOD
- Addictive gameplay
- Solid design
- It is easy to understand
- Fun real life gaming representations
- You can interact with the community

THE BAD
- Can be very easy
- Flat gameplay

  • Doing pretty well, have a successful little company going, made some okay games
  • Decide to take the leap into making bigger more promising games
  • Begin developing a Space/Simulation procedurally generated game titled "No Man's Lie"
  • Press interviews me, hype up the game as much as humanly possible
  • Continue building hype
  • Hype reaching unprecedented levels
  • Finally finish game, time to squash the ungodly amount of bugs
  • Decide "♥♥♥♥ that, let the people play"
  • Release with bugs untouched
  • Rated 3/10 and now everyone hates my PR guy, Sean Flurry
11/10 game, surprisingly realistic
