Game Dev Tycoon has taught me a lot about how consumers and reviews influence which games succeed and which don't. I started off on my second full playthrough of the game having some knowledge of how to play it already. However, this time I was doing something different. I named my company "Activision" and set out to reinvent the First Person Shooter, starting with Call of Duty but not going overboard with it. Call of Duty was a great success with reviews and sold millions of copies! I made a few sequels and once I had enough cash and enough skilled employees, I decided Call of Duty had outlived its usefullnes and decided to stop making sequels. I was now ready to reinvent the shooter, it was going to be a cyberpunk adventure FPS with a focus on story and characters. The idea was great in my head and we even spent millions on a new engine for the game to really shine. I pressed the "Finish Game" button and was expecting 9's and 10's. What I got was nothing of the sort. My heart sunk when I saw the 3's and 4's saying that "Cyberpunk" and "FPS" don't mix well and was even more nervous when I saw the low sales numbers. We were nearly bankrupt damn it! That engine alone cost us millions and the game took a huge amount of money to develop! I paused the game and sat there, thinking what we could do to save "Activision". I then looked at my game history. We had a few games that sold alright but nothing that sold as well as "Call of Duty" that's when I did the unspeakable. I clicked the "Make Sequel" button and made yet another "Call of Duty" game. I felt sick as the reviews came in with 8's and 9's, saving the company and making millions, but stomping on our morals and values. The entire reason I made the company was to avoid such a thing, when in the end I had become what I had set out to destroy!

10/10 for realism

My company's name is "Vulve" (By "Gay Ben") and I just enjoy creating such wonderful classics as: "Milf Life," "Wang Commander," "Super Sluut Bangers: Bra'll," "Cathouse Tycoon," "Thy DungeonPorn," and "Nardal Kumbat."

Every single one of my games has an offensive title.
I can't possibly recommend this game more, as it has inspired all the worst puns.

Look at my hours. I love this game, in fact, the only reason i stopped playing was because i broke my game with mods. i recommend the developers release some more content for the playersas when you become the best company in the univers eit quickly runs out of things to do. I recommend custom PCs to be built by the hardware lab. Just more things in general. This game is virtually complete as it reaches the point of modern technology and can advance no further. people complain about the lack of content and while it may eed a little bit more it does have just about everything. I recommend you get mods for it once it gets boring on normal. The mods and more topics and allow you to build different stuff. Be careful though as you may break the game and have to restart from scratch. I highly recommend this game it is defintatly woth $10.00. If you have played this before then you will understand me when i give this game a 10.25 out of 10

This game is probably the only casual game I've ever gotten "really" into. And I have a large amount of respect for its developers, Greenheart, when this game was first released many people simply pirated it, so Greenheart anonomously slipped out a pirated verserion of their own game, but they tampered with it so anyone who played it would never make a successful game due to pirating! Well, with all that being said, all you need to know is that this is a clever, and altogether fun game about developing games.

Ive had my eyes on this for quite a long time,
until i finally got it i felt so stupid for not getting it sooner.

This game is Perfect and so addicting, Its simplistic and yet hard which makes it so much fun
the moment i got this with o ther games on sale, i completely forgot i had other games.

You get the hang of this game pretty fast and the game is pretty straight forward,
with an amazing and very helpful tutorial which i find few games can pull off
again i cannot belive how much fun i have with this game.

-Fun
-Addicting
-Simplistic
-Great Structure
-Great Mechanic
-Fantastic Tutorial
-Worth every minute of my time (steam doesnt show my offline spent time on it)

I personally want to say to Greenheart Games Thank you so very much for making a perfect game by my standards,
And i can't wait to see more of your awesome future works, Keep up the Fantastic Job and always believe in what you can achieve.

Hopefully you can take in fan reviews, it may help you create more awesome games. c:

I enjoyed this game greatly, Unfortunaly the mods do not work for me, but that is a personal problem (bad pc) so don't let that discourage you. I shall now make a list.

The Good :
  1. The replay value is very good for a non-sandbox game
  2. Many strategies (bumps up replay value even more)
  3. Steam Workshop (mods available)
  4. I just always wanted to make my games, but I am terrible at code (personal opinion to fill up the list)
Many other small touches to the game (how they changed the console names a bit, but enough to be rocognized, historical events {nigerian scammers for example} or other small things)
The Bad
  1. Too short of a history period
  2. Not enough historical events, or even normal events that make big impact
and The Ugly
  1. Not enough offices
  2. Need a news reporter that says when a big event occurs (ties in with nr.2 in The Bad)
Wishlist
  • DLCs!!!!!
  • When new engine is available (lol) a sequel
  • That more people get to play this awesome game and feel the joy it brings..... oooow wait... that's my part as a reviewer right?

Thank you for reading

really nice, it may look ridiculous but it is totally not!
in fact, you are constantly aiming to get that infamous 11/10 score for your game, and probably willing to play until you get it.
so you just start in your garage with a pc and some knowledge for developing games, you make your first game, get some money, make a new/better game, research some stuff and gain some fans until you get a bigger office, after that you search some workers to help develop bigger games, and so on....
you have to look out for getting bankrupt and scammers, so it's not just adjusting sliders to make a game, create new stuff and become one of biggest game developers in the industry!

good luck ;)

i give the game a 8/10 a bit more stuff would be nice, but ofcourse it's from a small company so it's pretty damn nice!

Although you probably won't find yourself wanting to go beyond a single 10 hour-ish playthrough, while it lasts it's a surprisingly fun, deceptively deep strategy game that allows you to work both halves of your brain, first pushing you to logically determine the right mix of genre, audience, platform, and developer skills to create that 10 out of 10 masterpiece, and then allowing you to give that masterpiece the most creatively ludicrous or obscene title your devious little mind can come up with.

A game about making games, and if you wanted you could make a game about making games in this game about making games. You might even call that game 'Xzibit's Exhibit'. Maybe.

You start as a lone game developer in your garage during the 80s, you work away making basic games and hoping they'll be successful. For legal reasons real life consoles and PCs names aren't used (however this is easily changed with mods), but the game does a good job of hinting at which 'console era' you're working in.
It even has loose story elements as it recreates historic console releases and events, so if you know your gaming history you might be able to plan around these accordingly.

As you progress through the game, and with each game you make you gain experience, which you can use to learn new aspects for your games as you create the 'perfect game engine' for your crazy creations. You might want to have a one-use-for-all Engine, or you might even create Genre Specific engines. However, you'll soon realise that time and resource management will become an issue the bigger you aim with your gaming projects.
You can choose a Topic and the sub genres within it - Sports RPG? Zombie Simulator? Then within that design process you choose where to allocate time and effort - gameplay? Sound? Level Design? What's more important to you?

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=201694098

I do wish it went a little deeper, but what it does offer was good enough to spend 6+ hours in the '35 Year' Storyline playthough.
In short it's a fun game, and the fun comes from your imagination and sharing your creation with friends. What will your biggest game be?
