About This Game

In Game Dev Tycoon you replay the history of the gaming industry by starting your own video game development company in the 80s. Create best selling games. Research new technologies and invent new game types. Become the leader of the market and gain worldwide fans.

A journey through gaming history

Start in the 80s
Start your adventure in a small garage office in the 80s. Enjoy the hand-crafted level design while you develop your first simple games. Gain experience, unlock new options and create your first game engine.

Create games your way
In Game Dev Tycoon the decisions you make during development really matter. Decide which areas you want to focus on. Does your game need more gameplay or should you focus more on quests? These decisions will have a major impact on the success of your game.

Grow your company
Once you have successfully released a few games you can move into your own office and forge a world-class development team. Hire staff, train them and unlock new options.

You will play and forget to name some games, but you can name them at the end of the developing stage.

However, you cannot change the name of the console in which you invested $32 Million dollars into. You will F*** it up and name your very first console "Console name".

9.5/10 would F*** up again.

This is a very good game it takes you through the very first consles of the gaming world all the way up to newer consles. I also like how you can name you games whatever you want instead of pre programmed names. The best thing i like about the game is that you decide what kind of game you want and how you program it and depending on how you program it then you get reveiws on your game so you can make changes to you next game. What i try to do is make iconic games for that time era amd try to make it the same as the game

I like Game Dev Tycoon I play it alot and as the title says your a game designer who manages his own company and makes games
You have to decide what kind of game you can make a Puzzle Strategy or A Millitary shooter and you gotta adjust the graphics and engine and gameplay sound yada yada Sooner or later your company will grow and so will games releasing consoles and new graphics hardware new Ai which is nice I like it
It reseambles the expirence of companys growing and trying to catch up with gaming trends
Now the things I don't like IS THE PACING
There are points in the game where they introduce the new concepts ai companins new 3d graphics v2 Stero sound
However these points made it alot more difficult because I was scraping for them I had very little money and I was trying to make a new Game Engine and then all of a sudden they introduced like 10 new concepts ALL AT THE SAME TIME which made my games even worse because they were out dated!
However despite that I would recommend this game

I came back to this after 3-4 years of absense and i can see they have destryed the game. It have gorne from manegement to RNG. It use a system with sliders and tech design ratio. When i first played the game, you could get a decent score by knowing via trail and error, where the sliders is suposed to be, for each genre. That you cant do anymore. You can make a pirate adventure to E, and get a score at 10/10/10/9 and then make another adventure, with lets say detective to E, Both great combination to the right audience, and the sliders at the exact same postion, and only get 5/4/5/5. That is because it is no longer about the sliders, they dont matter, the only thing that matter is D/T ratio, and they are 99% RNG You sliders decide how the fokus from the bubbles are suposed to become. But the amount you get, you have no controll over. And that makes it almost imposible to get the right ratio. When they realesed the game, it was not the case, the sliders actuale meant something.

To be honest, I dont want to waste my time with RNG, in a game about Development.

Review: Game Dev Tycoon

What I say Is my opinion

Graphics 6/10
Customisation 9/10
Sound 8/10
Music 5/10
Game length 5/10
Gameplay 9/10
Personal Score 7/10

-Graphics are Fitting to the game type but can look much better
but better than some other game development games

-Customisation Customise What workers you have what type of
game you want and how much time you spend on graphics ect.

-Sounds for almost everything in this game

-Game Length To be honest the game is pretty short till the game stops giving
you consoles and other things I took about 8 Hours to finish the game Im pretty
sure and the rest of the time I was messing with mods

-Gameplay One of the best management games out there as In my opinion theres
game currency obviously and lots of customisation as In what game you want and
was really fun while it lasted and it was a load of fun for me

Customisation - Yes
Currency - Yes
Achivements - Yes 33
Game Cards - Yes
Jobs/Missions - Yes
Open world - No
Customisable buildings - No

I would Recommend this game As its cheap for now

10/10 Great game. As a freshmen computer scientist and aspiring game designer I can say that this game inspired me. This game gave me the energy and motivation I needed to start programming a simple text based game in C++.

The game is for everyone, While you can search on the internet and find algorythms (sweet-spots) for the game in which to generate a hit-game which, it is not required to find them. However, I wish they would adjust the game to make not so predictable/advance and spend more time. Either way, this game is great. I've watched many playthroughs and finally decided to purchase the game. The way the devs feel about games and their philosophy is inside the game. Many who priate the game find the game is great and go back to purchase it. I did that with Prison Architect.

The game is easy to follow, its for everyone, user friendly environment, inclusive and fun atmpsphere and a GREAT development team. You feel connected to them since this is their first game. Game Dev Tycoon is a home run!

Not a fan of the genre, just a guy who was interested about the theme of the game. And, from the theme perspective, it's very flavorful. But when you figure out how to "game" the system, how to manipulate the numbers correctly, then it becomes a simple spreadsheet, that's nothing more than chosing the correct options every time. There isn't enough factors to challenge the player to think, to actually do the logical things that are true in normal game design. It's all way too set in stone, and it's way too easy to figure out the way to play the game, then it loses all the appeal for me.

Game Dev Tycoon is a cute and witty take on the video game development process. There is a certain level of addiction the game instills in the player, pushing you to continue to develop new titles or create new businesses to try and squeeze out the best review scores ensuring a steady stream of sales which equates to more cash for your little simulated development company.

The pacing works well and gives you roughly 6-8 hours of play time for the 30 years you get to play. Once you reach the end the game does allow you to keep going, but no more story elements unfold (nothing beyond the PS4 and next Xbox).

If you can find Game Dev Tycoon on sale on Steam it’s certainly worth picking up.

THE GOOD
- Addictive gameplay
- Solid design
- It is easy to understand
- Fun real life gaming representations
- You can interact with the community

THE BAD
- Can be very easy
- Flat gameplay

It's a fun and creative game, the idea of having your own company and trying to make the best of it is always a fun experience. Also the names of my games were so weird that it's so funny when I see my game make sales.

Started game. Named company Treyarch, got an acheivement for that. Made call of duty. Got a 1 a 1 a 2 and a 1. Looked at treyarch in reality. Wondered what I did wrong...

The moral: life is a rollercoaster. 9/10 would go bankrupt again. Would give 10 if half the time it would crash :/
