Terrible graphics, even for a board game. The game has terrible crashing issues as well. With these crashes happening every five-ten minutes, the game is virtually unplayable, not to even mention that you can only play with bots (that are really annoying to boot). You'd be better off just buying the board game and finding/teaching some friends to play with.

HORRIBLE: I love Catan. Probably one of my favorite board games, however, this adaptation of Catan is HORRIBLE! If you love Catan and want to play a digital copy, play it on Xbox Arcade. It alot easier to manuever throughout the game, has speed control, and allows for multiplayer across the internet. This piece of crap only allows multiplayer on the same computer. I never write reviews, so this just goes to show how much this game is worthless. If I could get a refund from any game, this would be it! As well, this game is buggy and crashes alot!

Constantly crashing. I bought this game when it first came out and decided to try again today hoping the bugs were fixed, but nope. Still crashes roughly every 20-30 minutes in game making the campaign nearly unplayable. If they can't fix the bugs, they could at least give some sort of auto-save so I'm not constantly losing progress in the game.

It says that it has "online scenarios" but this is a complete lie. When you select online scenarios it opens a website, in ♥♥♥♥ing German, of course, and if you translate it all that you get is stupid maps. The scum making this game are scamming everyone, there is NOT multiplayer, the AI cheats, the dice are not at all random... wish I could get my money back from these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s.

Huge fan of Catan, so I thought I'd take a chance on this. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.

Pros:
Visually it looks good, or at least enough for a board game based on Catan.

It handles all the rules for you so you don't have to stop the game and engage in debates. Not that you would with this version anyway (more on that later), and it includes all the scenarios and a map editor (though I haven't tried that yet).

Cons:
Controls are lacking. The map can be squirrelly to navigate. If you're using a touch-screen it's nigh-impossible. When using my Windows 8 touchscreen laptop I kept flying off into some unknown corner of the map and tapping on buttons would cause other buttons to active. The interface isn't very intuitive and it doesn't have pop-up text to help with identification.

Buggy. As others have pointed out, it's buggy and prone to crashing.

No multiplayer. This is probably the biggest negative. It's on Steam. Why not let you play with other players who own the game? I'm guessing they don't want competition to their own multiplayer subscription site, but then why even bother with this version in the first place?

Graphics options. While the graphics look decent, the lack of resolution options is very disappointing.

TL;DR: The game isn't worth the asking price. I picked it up on sale and don't completely regret it simply because I still fire it up every now and then just get a Catan fix when I can't round up a couple more players for the board game, but otherwise this one just sits in my library collecting virtual dust. The biggest disappointment is how close they are. If they fixed the bugs, tweaked the interface, and added multiplayer through Steam, it would instantly be a classic.

Game is a great fix if you cant get people together to play the real thing, however in its current state, the game crashes often, so if you plan on playing the campaign, be prepared to save after every turn because:

Trading causes the game to crash

Rolling the dice causes the game to crash

Builing a road causes the game to crash

Not having a settlement on a pasture causes the game to crash

Moving the robber causes the game to crash

Clicking needlessly causes the game to crash

Right click causes the game to crash

Getting a brick on a 9 roll causes the game to crash

Upgrading a city without the exact resources causes the game to crash

Building a settlement on a 3:1 port causes the game to crash

Asking your girlfriend to bring you a glass of water causes the game to crash

Petting your dog causes the game to crash

Checking your phone causes the game to crash

Writing this review caused the game to crash

Wondering why you wasted 20 dollars on a borderline unplayable game that doesn't auto save so when it crashes you get to watch 45 minuites of your life go straight down the drain causes the game to crash

Seriously, game would be fine if they fixed this ♥♥♥♥.

TL;DR: Playing the game causes the game to crash.

Aside from the fact that this game has no Multiplayer, which defeats half the point of purchasing this game, the overall feel of the game feels rather cheap and clunky. The 3D models feel really rushed and poorly designed. It is very reminiscent of mid-90's bargain bin gaming. It’s just...bad.

I put in a request for a refund through Steam some months back and was told that I was basically out of luck. I suppose it's my own fault for blindly trusting a brand name instead of researching a product beforehand. I will make a point to never buy another game made or published by USM ever again. Buyer beware.

I have played over 3000 games of this and maybe 20 of them crashed. It is well worth those few games to crash to have such a wonderful version of Catan with such great graphics. And besides they only crash after I've played over 10 games. So I've learned to save the game every once in awhile.

If this game didn't crash and bug out like it does, I would recommend this. Nevertheless, I found this game a nice, cheap way of experiencing some of the expansions to the original game that I'd never played before. Still, if there's a choice between the video game and the board game, the board game wins every time.

This was ultimately a bit of a let down. While it has cities and seafarers, it lacks the 5-6 player expansions that really make the game shine as a party game. 4 player is just not big enough to properly play the game.

Have only played this edition for a few hours but from what I can tell it's a pretty good representation of the board game. The only problem is that there is no way to make the animations faster (at least not that I've found!), which slows the game down quite a bit.

Bad. Game has a tendancy to glitch and not be able to move on and the Dice's random equation is so flawed it can be enragingly bad. First 6 game turns are robger? Fail. rolling 4 8 times in a row? fail. 8s and 6s are the least rolled numbers in every game i've played so far? fail.

Good. The graphic overlay and scenarios are good when you get around the flaws.

I really enjoy this game other than the fact that it constantly crashes...

Good adaption of Settlers of Catan. The AI's are middling ability, after a bit I could beat them consistantly. But it's a decent game if you need a quick fix of Catan and no live players around.

Very buggy. Don't bother trying to play 2player pass and play. It will crash before you are done.

I love the board game but this version is really not worth it. Given the constant crashing (about 20-30% of my games crash midsession which in a 40 minute board game is unacceptable). Notable is also the absence of online play. I bought it on-sale at $8 but frankly wish I had passed. If it weren't for my Catan obsession I probably would give up after only three completed games on the campaign.

I really wanna like this game. I really do. The lack of multiplayer absolutly KILLS this game. Developer should be ashamed they turned Catan into nothing but a money grab here on Steam. Developer claim they cannot include multiplayer do to lic. issues. BULL ♥♥♥♥! I hardly believe they would let you call it Catan: Creator's Edition and NOT allow multiplayer. Xbox has it and you can play this for FREE WITH MULTIPLAYER online.

I cannot and will not recommend this game. In fact I highly encourage you NOT to buy this.

Crashes constantly. Great looking game - just can't finish a game. If the crashing were fixed, I'd fully recommend the game. In its current form, I cannot recommend it.

It appears to be the same game as Cities and Knights released for PC a few years ago (since abandoned and replaced by this one) but with better graphics and a slightly better user interface. At least Cities and Knights worked.

Fun game but suffers from entirely too many bugs and unexpected crashes. The transitions between boards are annoying, thankfully, there's a button to bypass the canned animation. The game is incredibly fun - I'd rate enjoyment a 9 out of 10 - however, the "cheat mechanics" can become very annoyning. These seem to kick in when you've sprinted out to a big lead; your opponents gang up on you and there's an unusual amount of 7's rolled (to steal your resources). All in all, worth the purchase but be prepared for bugs and crashes galore.
