Starting today and until Wednesday, September 3rd at 11.59pm EDT, the Bling Mines are available for purchase again!



As stated above, you can have up to two in your Castle, so if you missed the first Bling Rush or would like to complete your collection, now is the time!

Wanted: The Caustic Carpet!

Hello Opulencians,

As announced earlier this week, our first Most Wanted Creature, the General Pow had to leave for an indefinite period of time. Don’t worry, all the crafted ones will stay in their Castles.

This means that it’s now time for a new entry in the Wanted series! This week, you will be able to craft the Caustic Carpet, an acid version of the Spike Trap that deals corrosive, long lasting damages!

Don’t forget that the Caustic Carpet will only be available for a limited time Opulencians, so get to it!

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is a brand new game from Ubisoft Montreal that thrusts you in an outrageous medieval fantasy world called Opulencia where wealth, status and showboating are the name of the game!

As a newcomer to Opulencia, you will hack n slash your way through hundreds of castles designed by the ingenious minds of your fellow players!

Don’t forget to show them who’s boss by constructing deadly keep of your very own – in this kingdom, size really does matter!

Key Features

  • Castle Looting: Prepare your hero for battle and charge into one of many player-created castles to test your skills and might! Oh yeah, and don’t forget all the loot and gold waiting for you in the treasure room at the end of the castle.
  • Castle Defense: Protect your treasure from the greedy hands of your neighbors. You and your friends can build custom castles with majestic rooms and fill them with deadly monsters like fire-breathing dragons, nose-picking Cyclopes, swarming vampires and more. Then, surprise your foes by boosting your castle’s defenses with fearsome fire cannons, spike traps and other surprises. The more enemies perish in your castle, the higher the reward.
  • Variety of Heroes: The outlandish world of Opulencia has an eccentric cast of characters ranging from the knight, Sir Painhammer, a good-natured tough guy to Blackeye Bowgart, an archer with a chip on his shoulder. More will be available in the near future.
  • Character Customization: Plain armor is out this season, shiny metal is in. Use your well-earned gold to shop and customize and level up your heroes in style.
  • Showboating: Think you are the baddest of the bad in all of Opulencia? Prove it by creating different challenges for your foes and compare yourself on the leaderboards.
  • Intense Action: Play on your own schedule. Short sessions means you can play when you want to. It also doesn’t hurt to have others playing at the same time, but you don’t need them playing simultaneously to experience looting at its best.

Heroes are kind of jerkwads, at least if you accept the premise of The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot. It's not enough that they've pillaged fortunes untold from dungeons and assorted baddies; in their idle hours, they engage in home invasions of their neighbors in Opulencia, their medieval Columbia-style floating city in the sky. Good thing for us, then, that this game's combat reminds us that there's some fun in being a jerk. Even better, Mighty Quest supports an unobtrusive free-to-play model, although a few drawbacks threaten to send this airborne lootfest crashing from the sky.
Stupid fun, though not particularly groundbreaking. It will certainly entertain those in need of a quick gaming fix, but won’t replace Diablo in your library any time soon

Has lots of potential to be a great game but sadly won't live up to it's potential due to incompetent developers.

This game had been in closed beta for almost a year and had a major rework due to the negative backlash and criticisms over their shoddy mobile-games style "pay-to-not-wait-X-hours" business model. Amazingly, it took them almost a year before they realized their business model ain't working for a PC game - despite the constant complaints and whines of the players.

Game got rework and released open beta on Febuary, 2014. It was buggy and unbalanced, but that was expected as the game was in beta. What's not to be expected though, is for devs to start shoving DLC, unnecessary content, and locking characters behind a paywall - when the game is supposed to be testing for bugs and balance. Isn't the whole point of a beta to flesh-out the kinks of the game? Not "try to milk as much money from your players before the game even gets a full release"

My major complaint about this game though - is the terrible pace of balance fixes. Patches usually come in a bi-monthly basis. People have listed problems with the game's balance ever since the start of the open beta - problems that made the game repetitive, stale, and boring. The devs even acknowledged these problems themselves even as early as March - yet they barely touched the balance when it comes to patches; it's usually 1 minor balance change followed by more DLC, content disguised to entice you to spend money on blings (*cough* crafting patch *cough*), or advertisements.

The slow pace of balance changes results in a sorta flavor-of-the-month setups where people will just resort to the most imbalanced setups that's currently available. This is what makes the game a repetitive and boring choir, as 90% of the time, you'll find people are just using the same setups with little variations in their defences. This trend had been going on for over 6 months from the time of this review's posting - and looking at how the devs are more content to shove DLC on your face than listening to player's feedback in a friggin' beta - then this game ain't going anywhere.

TLDR: Game is rotting in beta with devs trying to milk as much money from players as they can instead of fixing bugs and balance; Also Ubisoft DRM (U-play) sucks.

Update: The game has become Pay-to-Win again - with the introduction of defense crafting. This patch introduced crafting rare monsters by collecting rare materials - these materials are so rare that most players who don't spend money on the cash shop will usually have less than 5 rare monsters in their defenses - whilst people who just outright buy the materials from the cash shop will has 30 or more rare monsters in their defenses. Absolutely disgusting - do not touch this game unless you enjoy paying money for unfair advantages.

I only started playing this month and personally the game's been amazing so far.

It has my perosnal favourite components for a great game:
- Free to play
- Strategic design (feels like tower defence + puzzle)
- Micro control (reaction time, skill rotation, and maneouvering)
- Competitive ranking system
- User generated content

However, this game is not for everyone.

1. Players may feel cheated everytime a castle has a seemingly impossible design.

Players should be ready to attempt a castle over and over again, trying different approaches until you've become confident that you will beat it when you see it again (see problem 2 below). You are not penalized after your first failure but instead rewards you nicely once you've managed to beat a castle. It helps to see the game as an interactive puzzle.

2. Most castles are derivatives of each other which can make the game exhausting.

This problem will vanish once you have figured out several ways to beat the repetitions. You may even make a more foolproof version for your own. I personally find joy in creating a trap-puzzle game that only has one approach as a solution, and I don't get all the ideas by myself.

*This is a tentative review after reaching level 18 (in a week) with highest point being at ~700 crowns.
**These are presented more as opinianated guidelines rather than facts.

Tried to raid your castle, flew from the springboard into a nest of bombs and got pie in the face.

:::::Intro:::::

A loot game that claims it right in the title the purpose of the game! Quite frankly I think the attack/defense system was a good way to remix this formula into something that has more substance.

:::::Attack! or die horribly:::::

Looting castles is pretty fun when the plan goes well but on the bright side you can still get stars for beating the time. The stars are just 3 general challenges you must complete in order to get more crowns from the other players. The number of stars are ranked on something that can be universally applied to any castle which is a nice way to go about it.

:::::Defense! or lose all your resources:::::

You don’t really lose all your resources just like near 1/10 or something of it maybe more. I generally found myself not really caring for being robbed alot because your castle gets defenses up after that for 12 hours of protection. They can steal your crowns but not anything more that would be hurtful to you building.

In order for other players to play against the new defense you set, you must beat your own castle! It is rather an interesting concept which allows players to run their castle multiple times until they have a great time set for other players to challenge themselves against.

:::::Loot the name of the Game! Literally:::::

Loot is pretty good in this game, though I wish you could use the pet settings that allow you to fetch only certain type levels of items for your own character. It would just be great not to have my inventory to be cluttered by junk items. The loot drop rate is splendid compared to many other games I rather not mention which make you grind for hours...days...weeks for any hope at a nice legendary item and this game gave me two in a day.

The loot is also very varied in the benefits you get from them, since they also have certain skills and properties.

:::::One is a Lonely Number:::::

You can only select one hero to unlock at the start and you have to either complete achievements to accumulate the shop points to buy another one or you have to just dish out real life cash for it. I would strongly advise you look at the playstyles on youtube of the characters before making a decision heading into this game. They are all of course viable to get through the game with so suit one that best compliments your play style.

Hopefully they will also add some co-op to this game! Though seeing as how that would only work with npc castles which would need to be rebalanced. It would be alot more work to rebalance if they were able to co-op player castles. Seeing as how the time set so far by players have been purely solo so far, people who don’t co-op would be in a huge disadvantage to protecting their castles!

:::::Conclusion:::::

A rather fun game for looting and building your own castle as a result. There is a good amount of customization for how many rooms you can add. Alot of people who liked torchlight or diablo will indeed like this game if they don’t mind that the other characters are locked unless you pay for them or earn enough in-game to get them from achievements and events. I am looking forward to seeing how the developers expand this game and possibly add co-op in a way that doesn't hurt the solo players.

Good game.In this game you can upragade your very own castle,isn't that cool?You can attack other castles to level up and you can test your own castle too!Oh yea i forgot to say that you can putt in your castle some monsters and you can level up their number and level up monsters too.The game is now beta,but when fullversion comes i believe that it will be good as now.9/10.
