Free Hero Weekend / Beta Turbo Launch

Hello Opulencians,

What with Burn’n Hell-O, Bling Mines, the Material-O-Matic and everything else, there’s been a ton of new stuff going into the game in the past few weeks. No doubt you’re having a blast trying them all out.

Well, why not see how these changes feel with the Mage, or the Runaway? Go on! This weekend try ALL THE HEROES FOR FREE! Yes, the Archer too.

Announcing the FREE HERO WEEKEND! For the entire weekend, try any or all the heroes for free.

Like the swagger of the Knight, the snark of the Archer, the insolence of the Runaway or the grandiosity of Evilosity? This weekend take them all for a spin.

But that’s not all that’s new in the game! It’s the official launch of Beta Turbo Mighty Quest.
As you have discovered over the past week, increased attack and movement speeds; bigger, more spectacular visual feedback, a revamped mana system and more are all live now!

It's only the first iteration and we're hard at work ironing out the kinks, addressing balancing and improving everything overall.
Your feedback has been useful and is greatly appreciated, so please keep letting us know what you think.

And have a great FREE HERO WEEKEND!

Enjoy!

There’s ALWAYS room for HELL-O!

Hello Opulencians,

Your enemies better have left room for dessert, because this week THEY DINE IN HELL-O!

This week only, craft Burn'n Hell-O, a burning hot version of the Gelatinous Wall that clogs your enemies’ movement while incinerating their trespassing, polygonal buttcheeks.

Watch it wiggle, see it jiggle; watch it melt faces and giggle.

About This Game

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is a brand new game from Ubisoft Montreal that thrusts you in an outrageous medieval fantasy world called Opulencia where wealth, status and showboating are the name of the game!

As a newcomer to Opulencia, you will hack n slash your way through hundreds of castles designed by the ingenious minds of your fellow players!

Don’t forget to show them who’s boss by constructing deadly keep of your very own – in this kingdom, size really does matter!

Key Features

  • Castle Looting: Prepare your hero for battle and charge into one of many player-created castles to test your skills and might! Oh yeah, and don’t forget all the loot and gold waiting for you in the treasure room at the end of the castle.
  • Castle Defense: Protect your treasure from the greedy hands of your neighbors. You and your friends can build custom castles with majestic rooms and fill them with deadly monsters like fire-breathing dragons, nose-picking Cyclopes, swarming vampires and more. Then, surprise your foes by boosting your castle’s defenses with fearsome fire cannons, spike traps and other surprises. The more enemies perish in your castle, the higher the reward.
  • Variety of Heroes: The outlandish world of Opulencia has an eccentric cast of characters ranging from the knight, Sir Painhammer, a good-natured tough guy to Blackeye Bowgart, an archer with a chip on his shoulder. More will be available in the near future.
  • Character Customization: Plain armor is out this season, shiny metal is in. Use your well-earned gold to shop and customize and level up your heroes in style.
  • Showboating: Think you are the baddest of the bad in all of Opulencia? Prove it by creating different challenges for your foes and compare yourself on the leaderboards.
  • Intense Action: Play on your own schedule. Short sessions means you can play when you want to. It also doesn’t hurt to have others playing at the same time, but you don’t need them playing simultaneously to experience looting at its best.

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • OS: Windows XP SP3
    • Processor: 3.00 Ghz Intel Pentium IV or equivalent processor
    • Memory: 2 GB RAM
    • Graphics: DirectX 9 compliant Video Card with at least 256 MB of memory
    • DirectX: Version 9.0
    • Network: Broadband Internet connection
    • Hard Drive: 600 MB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card
    • Additional Notes: The minimum configuration is currently higher than what it might be when the development is complete. Please understand that the current version is work in progress and is not yet optimized.

Awesome game very fun especially for beginner.. sadly it fades out late game as your forced to play with 'Wallet Warriors' Saying that this game is very P2W but you won't experience that until late game.

For a free game it's quite fun. You have to balance between leveling your hero & managing/upgrading your floating castle. Only played the mage so far though fun once you find what abilities you have. The game is free & worth diving into for a little while to see what castles you make & what ones to invade.

Tips-Be sure to upgrade the chests near your castle core crystal as it's easy early on to max out your loot space. And look for the castles without crowns as they tend to have more diversity to them as they seem to be developer made levels & tend to be harder than the player made ones.

(This review is based on my experience so far in the game and may or may not be 100% accurate.)
An interesting concept with funny voice acting and LOTS of clicking.

Pros:
-There's more of a story than some F2P games out there.
-A large variety of things to buy/use in your castle, such as chickens...
-A unique sort of dungeon crawler game, kinda like Clash of Clans and Runescape combined.
-As I said before, very funny voice acting. Some of the things your hero says and the tutorial guy says are very funny.
-You can get by (from my experience so far) without really spending money. The stuff you pay for isn't really that necessary, a lot of it being Consumables and Cosmetics.

Cons:
-LOTS of things to pay for. Only one hero, and if you want another, pay up. Typical of such a big company like Ubisoft, though... Not pay2win from what I've seen so far.
-Way too much CLICKING, maybe make movement WASD?
-Painfully long tutorial, and it was still giving me tutorials through the first few levels.

Its great if you focus either attacking or defending. You don't get much money from doing the one thing that will get you money and it will go very quickly if you try to upgrade your hero or your defences. You cannot effectively do both. Also if you do not upgrade your defences you will get robbed.

As a caveat, I only played this game while it was in open beta. I had a lot of fun. It's comedic and there's a neverending amount of dungeons you can play through. My problem with this game? I got to a point where I said, what's the point?! I'd done pretty much everything I wanted to do and was done.

If you're into diablo-style fighting, and a neverending sense of challenge through player-created dungeons -- go for it. It's free after all.

I completely adore this game! It's like diablo, exept free and slightly more fun!
I mean customize your own castle and go and beat other peoples for loot is extraordinary.
Please do yourself a favour, if you are into these type of games, go pick it up.

(Yes you can buy "diamonds" in the game but you must try to understand that, that's how free to play games work.)

Overall I'm very impressed and imersed in 'The Might Quest for Epic Loot'.

*edited for more gameplay experience*
FIRST, this game isn't THAT P2W as most people claim it to be... in truth, the game is more horribly unbalanced and so makes it seem it's P2W.
How? the monster you can craft towards mid/endgame get stronger (yes, plain STRONGER! and you can upgrade their lvl to get even stronger), also some layouts hide some traps better then others. also for some reason i feel that toward around lvl 25 the player's castles either feel overpowerd (be it stacking high DPS monsters with shieldmonsters creating a deathtrap only a few lucky players will overcome, or just making an insanely big castle wich makes the player run around losing time)

for this the game starts to lose the fun factor of creating and raiding other people's castles and turns into a search for doable castles to farm gold to upgrade your castle and join in with the clusterf*ck castlebuilders. you can say "but you need to validate/beat your own castle" and offcourse you do. i build my castle and i know HOW to bypass my traps wich monsters are where and HOW i can lure them out to pick 'm off one by one. i also look at replays to see what killed/failed to kill the other players.

so how to fix this P2W problem? imho realy easy actualy, the base is good the way it is. but it needs balancing! (x amount of monster x per room/castle, x amount of traps, some traps can not be use to create unavoidable pure deathtraps, etc.)
and for people allready playing this game i can allready here you say "but, but, but! they can buy actual monsters!" and indeed you can! does this help you in any way? not realy! :D howcome? i bought the haloween pack (in any F2P game i like to play i buy something to support the devs, simple reason) and i allready owned all the monsters! :D hell i was only playing 3 days and i could allready craft some of them hehe.

on with the review

you like diablo 2 (there is no D3!) and like to make your own (small) map for others to enjoy/hate/get frustrated about/etc?

pick this up :) 3 nice classes (4 if you get the DLC) a LOT of diffrent maps (bossfight, usermade and NPC maps)
and if somebody tells you this game is P2W... ignore the fool! (yes i bought the 4th class) i see nothing you can buy with real money you can't get through playing the game. sure it's faster... but also pretty boring and beats the fun of playing.

pro's
- user generated maps + NPC maps + boss maps
- 3 (4) good classes (wich for me all have their uses)
- allthough people say it's P2W, it ISN'T! the game can be played without even putting in any money (you just need to L2p)
- you can create your own castle and build it's defence (for others to beat or die trying!)
- more diablo then D3!

cons
- no ingame key remap (you can edit the config in the game folder)
- no hud lock
- lack of directional keys (ok, most Arpg's don't have it. but still won't hurt to have it. like van helsing)
- feels P2W at higher lvl's
- huge lack of balance
- anything goes... (create a castle with a LOT of diffrent empty halls and people will fail to get a 3* raid)

those are for me the best and worst parts for the game :) sure it needs a lot of balance in the create your castle/monster section (impossible to beat traps, empty hallways leading to nothing making you waste valuable time, overpowerd monster stacking, etc.)

other then that i don't think i can say anything wrong about this game, it's fun! :) it could realy use some developer love (again, balancing this game is CRUCIAL if they want this game to survice)

THIS GAME IS A SOLID PIECE OF GOLD!!! But seriuosly now for a serious review for serious. GAMEPLAY:this game is simple enough but, takes a good solid month to learn all the ins and outs (at least it did for me) and this game makes a good descision to make sure you have to work on defence as well as offense because everybody wants a piece of that gold peices that you have.kudos to you developers 9/10 VISUALS:it looks preety good I stumbled on a texture glitch or two but, nothing that can't be fixed.looks really nice 10/10 I could go on but, the swat team is breaking down my door so good bye ;)

Really fun, creative but i dont like how you cant just reset or delete your character as its the players choice, and the fact that you have to pay for more characters
