Buggy comes to Developer Tools

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF5QkQyLfLw

Continuing the year-long support for Dying Light in 2016, we have just expanded the Dying Light Dev Tools. Players now have the ability to use all-terrain buggies featured in Dying Light: The Following on custom maps, even if you only own the base game. With that new addition comes also the option to freely modify the driving system and use the buggies in PvP scenarios.

To coincide with the latest update, Techland and Razer announced the special ‘Buggy Madness’ contest. Anyone can compete by creating a buggy-based custom map using Dying Light Developers Tools (available for free on Steam) and submitting it at the official contest website.

The contest runs from May 19th to June 19th 2016 and aims to select the most creative, enjoyable, and high-quality maps.

More information and the submission form can be found at http://DyingLightGame.com/Devtools-Contest.

Developer Tools update release notes:

• Buggy unlocked
• Added "following" collection to editor's collections set
• All The Following and The Bozak Horde assets are now available
• Multiplayer fix on workshop maps
• Added missing weapons' textures to the editor
• Tiny Objects fix + added 4 new layers
• AI presets can be configured in HumanAI.pre file
• Example map is updated to The Following game version (buggy, driver skills, example track)

Excellent game. It has replay value and will take some time to finish.

The story and protagonist can be a little cheesy and predictable at times, but it's certainly not bad overall. The game is lots of fun and is visually pleasing. 8/10 and worth it. The developers put a lot of effort into this game. Below is a more detailed review of the pros and cons.

Pros:
- Zombies: Lots of zombies that get tougher as you get stronger. Until later levels, you will always be wary of the threat a horde of zombies can pose.
- Story: there's a story here. Yay! It's not the deepest, but it will keep you motivated to keep going.
- Characters: there are a variety of characters with their own quirks in the game.
- Missions: lots of side missions encouraging you to explore the map of Harran. The map is vast and while it can take time to get from A to B, you will find it's actually fun to take a detour to get to the airdrop before the bad guys can.
- Gameplay: parkour to the core. There is a grappling hook that can help you get around, but leaping from rooftop to rooftop, kicking zombies off high places (THIS IS HARRAN!!!!) and dodging attacks is quite satisfying. You always have to be aware of your surroundings so you can escape or use it to your advantage.
- Level up!: You have three main skills: Agility, Strength and Survivor. There is a fourth one (Legend...wait for it...dary!) that unlocks when you max one of the others out. They help you slay zombies faster, dodge attacks, run longer, climb faster, regen health and generally be a better parkour badass. You can even be more stealthy by using zombie guts to camouflage yourself and take the zombies out one-by-one without alerting the horde.
- Crafting: Yes, you get to make your own melee weapons and augment them with different elemental effects. Who knew a battery and some power cables could electrocute zombies to death...

Cons:
- Optimisation: The original game wasn't as bad, but after the Enhanced Edition update, my GTX970 and core i7 2600 seem to be taking strain. When there are lots of zombies on the screen, even with everything set to its lowest, I expect the FPS to drop below 60, and it does. The game performs poorly on linux, so I had to install it on windows to be able to play it.
- Some glitches. The zombies sometimes stay stuck in a mannequin-like pose and don't attack for a bit. They're easy to kill, so I shouldn't complain, but stationary zombies are not undead. They're just dead.
- Skills: even though you can max out the skills, you'll find your strength skill shooting up quickly while agility is lagging a bit. Expect to be able to carve through hordes while running short of breath when trying to beat Rais's men to the air drop. Secondly, not all skills are valuable and you have no choice but to invest in a skill under a specific tree when you level up. There is no levelling up a skill, such as camouflage, to level 5 so you have to invest the next point in something you may never use. This creates characters that are all the same when all levels are maxed out.
- Being bitten: pretty early on in the game, you're bitten by a zombie which means you need Antizin to stop from turning. Problem is, your character never actually "needs" Antizin until crucial, scripted moments when he gets seizures. For some reason he never thinks to bring any antizin along while he is swinging around the city. You go from being Spiderman's zombie slaying clone, swinging from building to building, carving zombies in two to suddenly unable to effectively swing your weapon because "plot". It is frustrating investing in all those skills but never being able to use them when the story main storyline demands it.
- The Following: Enhanced Edition is a little pricey.

Cons aside, it's definitely a decent game. Grab it on sale, if possible.

One of the best, zombie-apocalpse game in Steam. An awesome blend of FPS and action w/ an addition of creepy, gore and horror. The Following - Enhanced Edition is two games: Dying Light and Dying Light: The Following. This edition fixed all the glitches from the original Dying Light game with added content such as an outfit pack and weapon pack. It's a single player game, but can be played multi-player via online up to four players.

-Shortcut Review-
A great, spiritual successor to the Dead Island series. Much improved on graphics, mechanics and playability. Storyline is short, but the sidequests, repeatable quests, and parkour challenges makes this game quite enjoyable. It's quite fun to play with others, however, it may take awhile for someone to join your game. Although playing against the Hunter is very hard, the gameplay is tolerable once skills are high and weapons are highest grade (orange). May remind you that parkour is the key to survival - will give you the urgency to climb and jump building to building in other, zombie apocalypse games.

-Full Review (Somewhat Spoiler free)-
The beginning is very challenging because it takes some time to get used to the parkour skills: one must find a place on the wall to grip, use crosshair to aim n press button to jump while holding on to the grab button and having aim in place with gamepad stick. Player will follow a level-up system that upgrades perks and abilities. This is forgiveable because the start is an (epilogue) or tutorial and acts as part of the storyline. Also, the game also gives some useful hints to evading zombies early on.

At first, it's somewhat difficult to find weapons and can be tough to defend with them because the weapons are the lowest-grade. They have a high breakability and also low attack power to kill zombies. They also require materials to repair them if found. As for the items like gauze and alcohol to make medkits, they are pretty easy to find and don't require much scavenging. I think it's great that there's no "overcumberance" when reaching the max capacity in storage bag. It just simply doesn't allow the player to gather anymore items. There's too many games out there with this nuisance.

The characters are likeable, even though, they're created in a cliche way. We have a typical, rugged mercinary, a naive, yet brillant engineer, his athletic and ♥♥♥-kicking of an older sister, a clueless leader, and a ruthless, dellusional villan. The voice actor, Roger Craig Smith (RE series), does a wonderful job with Kyle Crane - he keeps his character relatable with the audience by a running occurance whether he is doing right or wrong in his actions. Unfortunately, the writers made the character to be just another, war hero with vanilla morals. All of these characters are complimented by each other because they have to survive against a higher power and the undead. See how where this is going?

Overall, this game easily makes you forget about the horrors from Dead Island, literatly. Techland learned their mistakes from the DI franchise, regrouped their tactics and created one, badass of a game with this one. You can get it for a great discount on sale (Summer and Holiday sales) at $15, even though, this game deserves to be paid in full price. Thanks for reading!

When this game was first announced, I had mixed feelings. I didn't know it was gonna be so DAMN good, but listen, the main story lost me. It was kinda corny, and could have been a lot better. The parkour, the buggy driving, the zombie killing, blueprints, and all that was absolutely amazing. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The Following was a perfect expansion pack, and all the DLC for Dying Light is worth every penny. I cannot wait for a Dying Light 2 and more DLC!
If you enjoy zombies then definitely get this game! It really is a great zombie killing experience. It's even better when you're with friends and playing on the Nightmare difficulty! It's hard, scary, and you must have a level of teamwork. If you ever need someone to play with and you have a microphone, then feel free to add me. Dying Light is among the best horror zombie survival games ever made. Congratulations!

it's a must buy for me :D
If you bought it while in sale you've just made a GREAT deal :)

With a great scenery and beautiful graphics, Dying Light is easily the best looking zombie game out there. The story of Dying Light is really generic, but the characters and the protagonist make up for that. Dying Light has a decent sized city to play in and gives you a new city to play in further into the game. Free running over the roofs and many obstacles in the city of Harran feels awesome and really smooth. Combat could use a bit more depth but has some really smooth dodging mechanics to keep it fun, and make it challenging at times. There's also a nice upgrading/crafting system for your weapons and creating fun gadgets like Throwing stars and Fireworks. Leveling is really fun aswell, you have 3 different skill tree's which you level up at the same time and some really nice skills to unlock. Looting and lockpicking is fun but in the end not really worth it most of the time.

The A.I. of the zombies is decent and the game has good cinematics and voice acting. However the mainstory is a bit short and the ending is kinda dissapointing, i'm not going to spoil anything but first of all the last mision can't be played co-op. This is big let down for someone who played through the whole game with a friend. Also the final boss is a quick time event, which makes it even more dissapointing.

Even though the game has some downsides, overall this game is alot of fun. And it succeeds at what it tries to do, Being one of the best zombie games out there. I would definitely recommend Dying Light to anyone that loves free roaming zombie games.

best zombie game available, amazing storyline, amazing graphics, amazing sound quality, very immersive

caution to buyers though:

the camera sway movement when walking along edges of stuff and being at high places can cause motion sickness during specific missions of the game, Be sure to check out some gameplay videos before you decide to buy it.

Got it during the Summer 2016 sale, best game i've bought in a while.

If you love killing zombies with practically whatever you want in an open world enviroment you'll love this. And the following, I find it a lot like The Walking Dead tbh. But night time, awwww mate, real intense even with the good weapons. Best to find a safehouse, coz night time is practially I Am Legend. Just a fantasic game. Co-op is great as well. Makes it a lot easier and real good fun. And to top it all off you can get old western style weapons. I just love having my revolvor.

So if you can get it on sale definitely buy it, though its worth the full price.

Great game and well optimized, the story wasn't bad either. Some zombies need a strategy somehow to defeat or a special weapon. It is a good game for co-op, but not necessary.
The Following DLC is a huge plus too
100% worth buying
