Glory to Arstotzka

The communist state of Arstotzka has just ended a 6-year war with neighboring Kolechia and reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin.

Your job as immigration inspector is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia. Among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists.

Using only the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission's primitive inspect, search, and fingerprint systems you must decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.

Papers, Please. This game has to be up in the top charts. It's simple, has a basic storyline, and very chilling events. I recommend!

This is an example that games can be awesome without good graphics and sound. Simple but neat. worth 10 dollars.
I think it's educational in some degree.

I just finished Papers, Please a few minutes ago, and it's left quite an impact. For a game made by a single guy, this is outstanding work. The concept of having to face a constant struggle of economic issues, terrorism, forgery, and even keeping your family healthy and well fed is innovative, and it keeps the GOOD bit of Pheonix Wright.

The world of Papers, Please is absorbing, and makes you feel as if you are genuinely affecting the lives of the peopl who you Deny, and Accept. There were many, many moments in Papers, Please where I was conflicted on whether to Accept or Deny someones Passport, as sometimes it would essentially ruin their entire life if you denied it, or accepted it.

Although I do adore this game, if you're not quick with your fingers, I personally wouldn't reccomend it. The game, from my playthrough, requires fast movements and a keen eye, as some of the "forgery" is just a single letter in a name, or an extra +3 to the weight of the passport holder. If however, you're looking for a fun, innovative and absorbing game, buy Papers, Please. You will not regret it.

This simple, yet detail-oriented game was fun and original with many possible endings. You play as a Aristokian (Cold War feel Russian country) who has been hired by state to run a checkpoint for foreigners. Have fun taking out terrorists, aiding Anarchists, and trying to keep your quota high enought o keep your family in heat, food and medicine. It's challenging, but funny in a dark, ironic way. Buy it if you like dark, dry humor.

When I first played the demo I got instantly hooked by it, I recommend it to people in the likes of simulation games, if you get in the shoes of the principal character you'll find out how hard it would be to make some of the decisions made in the game.

The Administrative intelligence inspector came by and told me im not allowed to hang items on the back wall except plaques of accomodation from them. They fined me $20. So i took down my soccer banner. A few days later it was my sons birthday and i had scrounged up enough money to buy a $25 crayon set for him. The next morning he drew a picture of me. I forgot about me not being allowed to hang items on wall and i did it anyways. It was a cute picture after all, maybe id get some kind comments from immigrants. One morning, the inspector came back and had me arrested and put to a labor camp. I lost the game because of a child's drawing. glory to artotzka

Got a citation for saving a woman from being sold into prostitution.

10/10 would loose money again.

In all seriousness, this game is amazing. You should get it. It questions your morality by forcing you to make tough decisions.

At the time of writing, I've played all the game's 30 days and got the main ending and some other possible endings. I have not changed my mind from the first draft of this review. In fact, I liked it even more.
This is one of those unique indie games that surprise even old gamers like me. The game world is quite convincing, the gameplay is very different and, even though it feels a bit like work and a bit repetive at times, the game has a nice challenge that makes me want to see what's next, with different variations added every day.
It's also worth noting that the fact that you also need to earn money to survive and to feed everyone at home also makes you think about how you spend/make your money and have difficult moral choices. After playing the game for so many hours, though, if you make the right choices, you won't have to worry about money (tip: never move to another apartment, unless you really want the achievements).
Hope you guys can play it and enjoy it as much as I did. Glory to "name your state capitalism country here"!

A Questioning of Morals

A fantastic idea for a game that was beautifully executed. From the drab hue of colors and overwhelming sense of desolation of the immigration booth that is your life, you are doing much more than just stamping passports. It is an endless cycle of looking for mismatch information, but all the while there are bits of other information to keep your interest yearning for more story. The constant tug of morals is ever present in the game as people from war-torn countries tell their sob stories and you have your own family to worry about in the process. Will you accept that bribe so your son can get that medicine he so desperatley needs?

With so many choices and routes, the game offers 20 different endings, so the replay value is fantastic. For a mere 9.99, it is worth the purchase.

Glory to Arstotzka. ‘Papers, Please’ is a game where you honour the communist nation Artsozka. In-game, you let people through a checkpoint, checking for illegal contraband and faults in provided documents.

Gets very fast paced and complicated. Every choice leaves a mark, and you might send NPC's to their death or get guards at the gate attacked. fun as hell and good way to pass the time.
