Glory to Arstotzka

The communist state of Arstotzka has just ended a 6-year war with neighboring Kolechia and reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin.

Your job as immigration inspector is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia. Among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists.

Using only the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission's primitive inspect, search, and fingerprint systems you must decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.

Oh my god ... this game ...

At first glance this game is very simple , when in reality it's actually really complex .
20 total endings , with only 2 being good , which one will you get ?
One thing i can say is that if you don't get one of those 2 good endings you'll feel like ♥♥♥♥ for the next couple of days .

Worth every penny especially if you can get it free from family sharing like i did .

I would have bought it cause i love it so much and because i wanna support the developer , but welcome to greece where we have capital controls now ...

You stamp passports, violate other peoples rights and watch your hole family die because you're awful at your job and because your lazy ♥♥♥ for an uncle can't get a job.

On a serious note though, it's a masterpiece! Buy it!!

At first I thought... this game is making me do paper work. When has paperwork ever been fun?! But then it get's so complex and you make mistakes and think..."OMG... I had to check what now??" and just when you think you're getting good, they change the rules.... and your wife and kids and extended family are dying of the cold and starving and sick... so you have to take bribes... and...
I love this game. It's really cool.

Papers, Please is a very unique game. I don't think there is anything quite like it out there. It is a great idea with fantastic execution, and a fairly high replay value.

But I can't play it at all. I have a terrible memory and eye for detail and as this game gets more and more complicated I do so poorly that it loses its enjoyability.

I would recommend this to anyone who has a good short term memory and can spot little details easily. For the rest of us, I recommend waiting for a sale.

Got screwed by twice in a row with a fake papers.
Third comrade comes in and prays that I let him pass for he has cancer and needs Arstozka's famous healthcare to fix him.
After preventing him to pass he offers me all his savings as a bribe.
I snatched his last pennies, denied his passport and commanded him to get back in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ he came from.

Felt both good and miserable at the same time afterwards... gg 10/10.

Great and addictive game!

Papers, Please is a point & click game in which you are an immigration inspector at Grestin border checkpoint in the communist state of Arstotzka.

You must check the documents of people who want to cross through the ckeckpoint. If you notice that the document(s) contain invalid information(or if they don't provide a necessary document),you must inform the person by highlighting the discrepancy with the inspection tool, then clicking on the interrogate option. Then, depending on the case, you can either deny access or detain them.Or if they have valid papers, you can allow them in the country.

The game is divided into 31 days. After you finish a day,you must manage your home expenses(like rent, food, heat, medicine and some booth upgrades). At home you have your wife,son,mother-in-law,uncle,and niece(if adopted later in the game). They get cold, hungry, ill,or die, if not provided with the above home expenses.

The game has 20 different endings, which can be achieved by making choices like helping/ignoring a mysterious organization, working dutifully, and other ones that I don't want to spoil.During the game you'll also be required to do some moral decisions, for example denying or allowing in the country a mother with invalid papers who is excited to see her son.

Pros
  • Good soundtrack
  • Addictive gameplay
  • Nice pixel-graphics
  • Many outcomes based on choices
Cons
  • Multiple playthroughs can be repetitive
