Kinda like Diablo, which is not bad. Good challenge mode, and really fun to play with others. Highly recommend as a time killer or perhaps a stream game.

Free to play. I love this game. After having spent many years playing the populard ARPG, Diablo 2, I can say that this reminds me of the natural evolution I wish that series had taken. From the introduction of skill gems, to the idea of 'mapping', I believe they hit the nail on the head to take the genre to the next step. I've since spent some money on in-game purchases, but they have been completely unrelated to my ability to succeed within the game. This is the first time i've ever found a ftp game that's micro transactions revolved entirely around cosmetics and quality of life improvements such as stash upgrades and gear effects.

The story elements aren't as prevelant, you won't be watching any cut scenes, but the characterization can be quite deep if you read all the dialogue and listen to the stories you find within the game world.

The devs have done an excellent job updating this game. I've played it for a short time and have seen many posts in regards to balance, new updates, additional content, and bug fixes. The community is active in both the forums and reddit, and there are a number of ancillary apps and programs that have been designed to make playing the game more enjoyable. They are not however necessary.

If you ever have any questions, ask away. The community is welcoming and generally very positive. More difficult questions can be answered via the forums, and many streamers exist that post youtube video's regularly to help you learn and understand the game better.

If you haven't yet, give this game a try. It might seem daunting at first to see the passive skill tree the first time, or learn that you can't directly allocate stats to strength and dexterity, but the more you play the more you'll appreciate all the viable options you have to build an end game character.

Grinding Gear Games did an excellent job with Path of Exile.

Played till lvl 8 and it was always the same, pressing 3 or maybe 4 buttons all the time. Does the game get any more difficult later or why do so many people play it for such a long time?

Over the years this has become a fantastic ARPG and the master of this genre; with many unique elements of gameplay (skill gems, flasks, currency items), a boat load of content, very varied skills and a myriad of skill combinations it is way beyond its competitors.

Also, it is completely free-to-play! Actual F2P. all you can buy are either cosmetic items and more stash space.

Absolutely recommended!

Well... Path of exile.
I started off thinking of this as an old version of diablo III but I tried it and I was enlightened.
I know I only have 35 hours but for me the start is great. I love the trading and the image of the game.
Recommend it. Pls try and truly review :D

The most amazing free to play game out there, depth-wise, gameplay-wise and replayability-wise, no doubt about it.

Most people often compare D3 vs PoE, then i remind them that a free to play game is putting out more than twice the amount of content as the other game which you'd spend 70-80 euro(with expansion) to play.
It's an obvious choice for me, seeing how Diablo 3 has evolved into the kinda game which you play one week out of the season to restart, play with your friends and then you go back to Path of Exile, because this game does not rely on playing with your friends, does not rely on you playing at the start of a league, or in a league at all.

As for the game in it's entirety, i feel that the graphics are a tiny bit lacking, it has a bit of frame rate issues because it's not very optimized, which is getting fixed by pretty much every patch, the gameplay has a bit of repetitiveness to it, but you will never ever learn every single thing there is to the game, it is next to impossible, therefore the depth to the game is huge, the tons of possibilites in skill, class, build & item variation is what makes this game just brilliant.

I've played this game since closed beta, and i've probably accumulated around 3-4k hours played in the game, and i feel like i'm very lacking in knowledge when it comes to the game still. It's endless fun, and you will not regret giving it a go, aslong as you're willing to put in the hours to make your character succeed!

The amazing game that it is, makes up for any issues that there is, ontop of it being F2P, it's just a flat 10 out of 10.

This game is essentially the result of an awkward gangbang between Diablo 2 and about 30 other ARPGs.

Similar to Diablo 3 at a glance, but not so much. The game goes much deeper and provides the player with much more information about their character and items. A fun game for those who like to imagine their own builds, and really fun for hardcore players who don't mind putting in the hours. The end game doesn't really get stale and feels rewarding. Hardcore is also an intreresting and genuinely difficult challenge, and the game has a fluid campaign that makes creating and leveling new characters not so painful. I would definitely recommend this game to people who are willing to learn a LOT of things in order to fully enjoy it.

You probably thought this would be another pros and cons review. You were right, but let me first tell you some general things and I will end with my opinion at the end of the review.

PoE is a hack and slash ARPG that has an incredible amount of depth. It has so much depth that it was the main reason for me to switch from Diablo 3 to PoE. Apart from the many, many uniques there is a huge passive tree, so extensive that it gives you nearly endless possibilites to customise and direct your character build. It is responsive in terms of casting abilites, skills, attacking, moving, etc, much like Diablo 3. The graphics are simple-ish but ok in my opinion, the game uses less bright colors compared to diablo 3 and is less prone to giving you epileptic seizures.

Let's first get rid of the cons:
-inconcsistent FPS --> really demanding game in terms of requirements, it will run smoothly and then some cluster♥♥♥♥ of spells and abilities will produce an fps drop (maybe it's just me though, but I think I have a pretty good pc)
-server crashes and bugs sometimes appear, altough it's not that often to really undermine the game. It's rare but it's there
-if you are playing on an EU server it is possible to enter groups with NA players (for example) that will switch you to their server and consequently increase your ping to ~500ping
-the start of the game is really slow, meaning that you will not have that start as in Diablo 3 for example where you start hacking and slashing furiously at lvl1, PoE requires higher attack speed/cast speed to achieve that level of speed/responsivnes. Meaning you will have the fast game in the late game.
-it's a grinding game

Now for the pros:
-free to play (not pay to win, don't worry, all microtransactions are merely cosmetic apart from the stash extentions)
-huge depth: a really high number of different builds that are all viable in some way and customisation of everything (from your gear and hideouts to the maps that you will be tackling on in late game)
-responsivnes
-large amount of late game content
-races where you can earn unique gear rewards
-fun leagues with unique rules that last for 3 months each: new economy, fresh start and rewards
-permanent leagues
-it's hard as ♥♥♥♥ to reach lvl100
-it's a grinding game

All in all I recommend this game. Why? Because you have stuff to do. Yes it's grindy but at least you have the satisfactory soul fulfiling skills/abillities that destroy enemies to your hearts content in many more ways than one. My point is you will never get bored because you can always make a unique build that you will enjoy. A build tailored for you, by you, not by external sites. My only recommendation is that you plan and learn in advance. Well, those are my main reasons why I switched to this game. It's excellent, really and I would recommend you try it, after all, it's free to play. I'd rate this game 8.5/10.

Excellent game, spritual successor to Diablo 2 imo, talent tree can be a little intimidating at first but offers tons of build variations. Definately a must play for anyone of the ARPG genre, and it has the best F2P structure ive seen in any game, GGG went above and beyond.

With my time playing Paht of Exile was exellent and i really recomend it to anyone looking for a very fun and lots of mechanics in a Arpg, this is the game you are looking for i have put 125 hours into the game and i am just startingto scratch the surface of this game. it is very unigue with its builds that you can follow other peoples or take the mighty adventure and make you own. Another very fun option to do in Path oof Exile is that they hold Community Events and they are very fun to particpiate in them.

This game deserves an award on its complexity and diversity from the many other Arpgs.

The game is excellent. If you like Diablo or similiar games then this will be a lot of fun.

Pros:
1. Just fun to play
2. Not class based
3. Deal tons of damage
4. Multi-player with fiends
5. Skill gems Give wide variety of skills/spells for everyone
6. Endless loot collection
7. Play how you want

Cons:
1. Lag, lag, lag. (I get booted from the game often. I live in Alabama and use the Texas server. Sometimes I have to go play something else because the lag is so bad.)

Overall though this is a good game and also it is FREE! (It is not P2W either) This alone makes me more forgiving of the lag and dropping issues.

I've followed closely the evolution of this game since his early beta state and still enjoying it a lot!

I'm learning everyday something new about it, thus demonstrating its intricacy.

I'd recommend it a lot to players looking for a free, rich, complex and hardcore ARPG, exempt from any Pay 2 Win eventuality.

It's a great game. Very addicting and brings a lot to the table, especially for being free. However, I'm starting to get annoyed with constantly getting booted and losing all of my progress due to the saving method essentially being waypoints. I haven't been able to progress through the story much for the last two days because everytime I try, the server disconnects (and no, it's not my computer or internet connection). Another thing to keep in mind, you might as well play the windowed version and keep a browser up in the background because you will constantly be searching for vendor recipes, etc. It's interesting that it doesn't have one base currency like so many other games, but can be a pain in the ♥♥♥ sometimes with such limited inventory space. I hope you like Tetris because you will be playing a lot of it in this game. It'd also be nice to have auras and certain summons not take up skill slots in order to be used. I know some people like the challenge, but I would rather have access to more skills. That being said, it is a fun game with A LOT of content and you don't have to pay to win...but you may have to invest in more stash tabs. Thankfully, they are not too expensive compared to the vanity items.
