+ lots of skills available

o Many of the skills in this game are very similar to each other, only being different regarding the type of elemental damage or the type of minion, etc. I feel like the skills in Diablo 2 were more original - they suffered from balance issues of course but that is another topic...
o Gritty graphics but total lack of atmosphere. Music is alright but somehow the atmosphere does not really come up at most places. A lot of places feel the same and very generic. Others are really well made, but those are the minority. Too much repetition in enemies (some are just coloured differently and given a new name..)
-- desynchronisation issues make the game feel "detached", what you see on your screen does not correspond to what happens in the gameplay and other issues arise such as sudden teleports leading to deaths etc. This issue has been around since beta and has only gotten worse since then
- the passive skill tree is huge but somewhat meaningless: In the end you only go for the important nodes for your build anyways, and mistakes are costy (lots of currency orbs needed). also this concept is barely balancable and optimal skill tree builds take a lot of time to plan. If you enjoy this planning (I actually do) then this is somewhat fun but in the end the concept feels a bit pointless and when you go for certain skills there is usually not much choice if you want an optimal build. This means that there is actually not as much freedom in skilling as it may look. For certain builds you will always target the big nodes necessary for it and you will have to take all nodes on the way to there - not really exciting. The rest is just optimisation and alteration, not making much difference usually.
-- We were promised new acts. The game got different kinds of new content, but there doesn't seem to be much development regarding new acts, although this is exactly what this game needs: more acts, more NPCs, more quests, more story-related content.
- The skill effects and particle effects in this game are too large, obfuscating and opaque. Often it is impossible to see what is going on especially when playing in larger groups. There is no way to lower the visibility of those effects or turn them off. It kinda ruins the game in a way, but I guess some kids might like it...
-- The whole game seems to be developed more towards grandstand-play and more and more customised effects, random grinding and "loremasters" (who the heck needs that) than towards new content, balance, compelling gameplay, and fun. I don't like the direction it is taking.
- Currently the only way to play this game in late-game is to have some form of AOE and/or abuse game mechanics and imbalances. AOE is necessary because desync becomes ridiculous in late game, so ridiculous you barely can play if you depend on direct hits, even if your ping is around 30 ms. Fixing desync would fix this too.
Could have been a great spiritual succ
