About This Game

Hell is an experiment you can't survive in Outlast, a first-person survival horror game developed by veterans of some of the biggest game franchises in history. As investigative journalist Miles Upshur, explore Mount Massive Asylum and try to survive long enough to discover its terrible secret... if you dare.

Synopsis:

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.

Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

Outlast is a true survival horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind.

Features:

  • True Survival Horror Experience: You are no fighter - if you want to survive the horrors of the asylum, your only chance is to run... or hide
  • Immersive Graphics: AAA-quality graphics give players a detailed, terrifying world to explore
  • Hide and Sneak: Stealth-based gameplay, with parkour-inspired platforming elements
  • Unpredictable Enemies: Players cannot know when - and from where - one of the asylum’s terrifying inhabitants will finally catch up to them
  • Real Horror: Outlast’s setting and characters are inspired by real asylums and cases of criminal insanity

Warning:

Outlast contains intense violence, gore, graphic sexual content, and strong language. Please enjoy.

One of the scariest games I've ever played. The atmosphere is make you ♥♥♥♥ your pants and at the same time enjoying it. After some jump scares you laugh at yourself, because you were scared by a tv or something like that. This game is really intense. You're going to so many different emotions in a very short ammount of time. If you like this kind of jumping scare horror or just to torture yourself by playing it every day, that's your game.

First of all Outlast is one of the best horror games I have played. The game takes place in a creepy insane asylum. The game was made by former Ubisoft employees which really shows. The game's graphics are amazing and beautiful in a morbid grotesque way. The game’s atmosphere is dank, dark and uncomfortable. The game also features an amazing night vision camera that adds to the games creepy gritty atmosphere. The game features basic Amnesia style run and hide gameplay with platforming. The game’s night vision camera effects the gameplay by requiring the player to collect batteries to use the camera to be able to see in the dark. The game also features well crafted jumpscares that geniously got me at times. The only thing I found disappointing was the game’s ending but hey nothing's perfect. The game was thrilling and enthralling experience that I will never forget. Outlast is a modern horror masterpiece. Overall Outlast gets a 10/10. I can’t wait for the sequel coming out late 2016. I have heard that Resident Evil 7 is heavily inspired by this game and I am quite happy to hear that.

This game is good albeit a bit less scary than other horror games. The main game takes about 4-5 hours long and the enemies are easily avoidable. The dlc is far better than the main game, it takes about 2-4 hours and is far more disturbing than most horror games.

8/10.

Advantages:
graphics, gameplay, story, sound, horror

Disadvantages:
very scary)

Hello. Cities with you, and today we are going to observe a game that has become popular not only in the world, but even on YouTube. Outlast is a horror game that will make you afraid and shivering at the same time. Game I liked everything from graphics and sound finishing. But let's analyze in detail the game, so it's time heading "aspects of the game." So, let's begin.

Graphic arts. The game has 3D graphics that looks quite good. What can I say after a game in 2013. Drawing terrain and objects at the highest level. Indeed it seems fear. But I'm not a fan of "grafona", so let's just put the assessment schedule. A score graph 5. Go ahead.

Plot. The plot is in hororra style. The journalist arrived in the loony hospital ... and actually begins the story itself. I do not like to retell the story, games and movies, as "sacred" Code of honor Otzovika, although my reviews yet banyat. But oh well, I'll put the story 5. Continue.

Gameplay. The game is positioned as Survive Horror nada so you survive. And you will be hard to survive. Let's imagine for a moment, you are a man who got into a closed mental hospital, where a bunch of loonies who want to kill you. First of all, what do you do? Run? That's right, you must first examine itself a mental hospital and then met a bunch of "mutilated crazies" who want only one thing, "your death". Only after all this, you will have to look for a way out. But oh well, let's talk in more detail about the gameplay.

Control. You control a journalist in the first person. With a notebook and your camcorder. Blokonot I think you know why, but the camcorder is needed in order that you had night vision. Otherwise, without it, it will be very difficult to wade in poorly lit "nuthouse" In principle, the management is quite simple, and complexity did not arise during the passage.
AI enemy. Enemies or rather as they are called in the game "persecutors" very tricky. Once you turn away for a moment and you just have "fashioned" because any silhouette and you lose in front of you. The only salvation is your lockers, beds where you can hide and escape.

Characters. The game has many types of characters including patients and other interesting personalities. With them in the passing game you will meet, and I tell you the characters give the impression of fear.
In general I liked the gameplay. You will be scary and at the same time it is interesting to go through. Therefore, I put 5 gameplay.

Sound and Music. The main feature of the game is the sound. Not only that, the game can not be played at night, even during the day, even in sunlight, you will be scared. Sounds published terrible and frightening, and sometimes when you turn you can actually "crap one's pants" when he heard the laughter and the clatter. And for those who like horror, give advice, wear headphones and you will understand how the game is terrible. Sound I put 5.
Grand total: it is that the best horror game that can really scare you, but at the same time it causes and admiration. In the game there are different challenging puzzles and interesting conversations. I liked the game and after passing I still have a good impression, and "cargo".

Overall. Game I put 5. Thank you for your attention and for reading reviews. Remember, the opinion of the author may not coincide with the opinions of others. A review is solely for informational purposes and is not a criticism of the game, or anyone else.

As I give a thumbs up for my review, I think to myself, "What kind of person are you?"

You know when you are playing a horror game or watching a horror movie and everything tells you that the situation is not good and it is not going to get any better and that you will save yourself some scarring if you turn it off? Yet, you keep playing or watching, submitting yourself to any horror that will be thrown at you, BECAUSE YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS.

That is my relationship with Outlast. I don't know if I would even call this game scary, but I do know that I would call it horrific and tension-filled. I feel like this game already has enough reviews to cover the pros and cons, so here are just some thoughts on how this game affected me.

It was a brilliant, tense, horrific experience and the thought to turn the game off never entered my mind. The idea of investigating a mental hospital for its questionable ethics is fairly typical adventure/survival horror material. However, I felt that Outlast was very fresh and original in its delivery. I've never played anything quite like it, and honestly I hope I don't play many more like this.

I loved the familiar territory of the adventure aspects of this game. Exploring and discovering the secrets of the hospital via notes and documents is always a treat. Luckily, not the entire game is running from people who want to kill you. Actually, it was refreshing to find the mental patient who wanted to help, in his own way, of course. The atmosphere reminded me of wonderful games like Amnesia, where you are in almost constant peril and there is no way to fight back.

Now, maybe I am a little sheltered but after playing Amnesia, Dead Space, and the Silent Hill series, I thought I could face what Outlast had to offer. For a while I could. Raving lunatics wandering halls, bodies everywhere, psychos chasing you - standard fare. But then the DLC Whistleblower unleashed a level of horror that I hope I never see again. His name is The Groom. A fair warning for those who love horror games, what The Groom does may test your gore threshold.

Mechanic wise, I found that the game ran very smoothly and looked great. The constant need to have your camera out added an edge that I haven't felt since Fatal Frame.

So do I recommend this game? Yes. Did I find it fun? That is debatable. I couldn't stop playing. Not because it was necessarily fun, but because I had to believe that putting the poor protagonists through all this was worth it. In the end, I think it was, and I am glad that I played it.

Please stick with me here. So I finally started to play this game after a year of it being just there sitting in my steam library. I played the game with lights out at night, headset at full volume and a can of coke. I went through the game and I got scared fairly by a lot of jump scares, intense music, chase scenes and the disturbing atmosphere of the game. Of course I screamed, but I went on to continue the game. Later on, I realized my pants is soaking wet and the chair feels wet too, I thought I spilled the coke since I'm so thrilled and scared at the game, but it wasn't the coke...

10/10 I would do the laundry of your pants if you play this game.
