About This Game

Hell is an experiment you can't survive in Outlast, a first-person survival horror game developed by veterans of some of the biggest game franchises in history. As investigative journalist Miles Upshur, explore Mount Massive Asylum and try to survive long enough to discover its terrible secret... if you dare.

Synopsis:

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.

Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

Outlast is a true survival horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind.

Features:

  • True Survival Horror Experience: You are no fighter - if you want to survive the horrors of the asylum, your only chance is to run... or hide
  • Immersive Graphics: AAA-quality graphics give players a detailed, terrifying world to explore
  • Hide and Sneak: Stealth-based gameplay, with parkour-inspired platforming elements
  • Unpredictable Enemies: Players cannot know when - and from where - one of the asylum’s terrifying inhabitants will finally catch up to them
  • Real Horror: Outlast’s setting and characters are inspired by real asylums and cases of criminal insanity

Warning:

Outlast contains intense violence, gore, graphic sexual content, and strong language. Please enjoy.

ok, maybe I am a total whimp. I love the horror genre and everything in it.
Now this though....wow! Maybe playing with my headset, alone, 3am, NOT the ideal circumstance to put myself in for my first time playing. Not much scares me, not much makes me jump, THIS game did that and terrified the pants off me for the rest of the night. (shifty eyes) waiting till i feel safe enough again to continue where I left off.

Highly A+ Recommend!

This is a great horror/survival game with an atmosphere that fits its world perfectly.

What really hits home is the palpitating sense of suspense... the tension that mounts before you face your next terror. I suggest playing on hard difficulty or higher, because of the simple fact that the amount of equipment and hits you can take before dying is greatly diminished as compared to that of normal difficulty, and it serves to make it feel as a blessing when you do finally reach the next safe room or find a new battery to power your camera.

One thing I noticed (which I've found to be a common issue with games of this genre) is that certain areas of the game were exponentially tougher than others (and not necessarily in a proper progression). I would die repeatedly and this noticably lowered my fear of future enemies (after having seen and dealt with them and their patterns on numerous occasions) and overall enjoyment of the game over time.

For the most part though, my heart was beating like a drum and nothing truly compares to the feeling of entering the compound for the first time, uncertain of what will soon ensue. Be sure to actually read the notes and documents hidden throughout, as they will serve you immensely in terms of immersion within the game's world and lore.

Play in the middle of the night, on your own, with the lights off, and your headphones securely in place.

And please, do enjoy your stay.

Outlast manages to be interesting and athmospheric game.
Great game to play when all alone on a quiet night when one has troubles falling a sleep.

Seriously though had some nasty moments there that freak one out.

But what bother me a little bit was the grainy graphics of the game.
Not so much that it took anything from the game but it was noticable.

This is by far the best survival horror I've ever played! The atmosphere, the music, and its original storyline is amazing in this chilling adventure. As you investigate Mount Massive Asylum, you are on the edge from the moment you begin to the very end. Repeated playthroughs are always fun for this game too. In all honesty I'd give this game a 10/10, because it's just THAT good. It doesn't have to be scary, but a feeling of calmness is very rare for this game. Also, try out the DLC (Whistleblower), it's a tiny bit shorter than the main game but it still gets your heart pumping. Someone will keep calling you darling, too.

Do us all a favor and play this game with headphones, in the dark, by yourself, and of course, with a can of vanilla coke and some chips. You'll thank me later or you'll haunt me for the rest of your life and the remainder of mine.

++++ STORY
++++Characters+Voice acting
++++MUSIC ( expecially on DLC )
++++SOUND
++++Lighting ( Had Dark setting - completely Black )
++++Atmosphere
++++Gameplay
++++ never experienced any glitch in the game
++++ You are left alone on dark space without any clues , any gadgets , map u dont have to break your head for that too its kinda easy just have to remember few spots ( which is more plus for the game ) u can actually view objective wid some key but i never wanna interrupt my game so i never pressed any key i honestly dont know
++++ Collectables u really need extra GUT for that :P
++++ Best DLC
++++Best Villains
++++Crazy moments
++++Not so much gore
++++ Very Few jump scares / which i loved so much, i did fall for it first one was unforgettable i threw my mouse
++++ Authentic

++/-- At first u will have no idea where to go or what to do but after a while u ll have clear idea ( i had Fear inside me everytime at first few levels but after a while it went down and became tedious
( especially on DLC )

_ You need to play DLC for get complete satisfaction on story ~ DLC becomes must IMO
_ Same music plays again and again if yu get killed which is kinda irritating- Irritating music

Outlast

You play as this one dude that has camera, but smarter than the dude with a camera on the Slendarman games. You walk into this Asylum to investigate, despite knowing the dangers you'll face, you decided to bring just camera. No knife, no bandage, nothing to defend yourself. You continued walking towards the gate and into the building. The offices look pretty decent, decent enough that you can actually work in it, but you are an investigator, not an office worker.

The guy you're playing as seems to have an history about murder and rarely being surprised by dead bodies. Truth be told, you don't have a memory about your past. You're one of the protagonist who can live and finish the game without knowing you're very own history.

You meet several people, knowing that they are from an insane asylum, you believed what they say anyways and followed their order. Some want to kill you, some just ignore, and some just ask you to do stuff for them. Congrats, you just became the errand boy for them.

When halfway through the game you notice, you started to wonder, why he decided to continue exploring alone rather than going back outside and telling the police. You got enough evidence when you walked to the asylum, what else does the police need to be persuaded? The guy was one of the rejected members of the Mystery Gang where they try solving the case without the police help, that what the guy is trying to prove them that he is a capable member of the Mystery Gang. After he solves the problem, then he call the police.

In the end, you didn't call the police, you called a military group and you got F***** bad

(jk here's the real review)

Outlast does a great job with it environment. The place itself is scary enough that you want to quit the game, when you step outside your car. The people you encounter seems to be easy to avoid by just going far enough out of their AI pathing to make them stop chasing you. Some of the scares are quite predictable and easy to avoid. The story itself is pretty good and has a deeper meaning than you originally thought.

To summarize everything
You're part of the Mystery Gang
Atmosphere is great
The people in the asylum is stupid
You're smarter than the guy in Slenderman

My recommendation for this game: YES/YES

Outlast has become my standard for ALL PC games, not just survival horror. In terms of story, game mechanics, learning curve and graphics, Outlast's creators have produced far more than just a 'video game.' It is a fully immersive experience in new media and interactive storytelling. And while other titles come close, none yet (as of September 2016) has managed to make me care about a game's story and/or main character like Outlast does. I can't wait for the sequel!
