Naked cannibals, mad doctors and we middle of it. Outlast sends us the test on a real horror trip. In the role of the journalist Miles Upshur, we equip the asylum Mount Massive an investigative visit. According to one insider tips are there going on mysterious things. It was even rumored illegal experiments on inmates. Of course we want to make the matter thoroughly. The most important tool is our camera, with which we document the visit.
It quickly becomes clear: Patients were systematically driven to madness, the military has probably something to do with the matter, and easy to escape from the asylum, we can forget. The story, of which we deliberately do not want to give too much away, although the wheel does not invent new and leaves us with a rather unsatisfactory end. Also, our protagonist is quite pale.
Nevertheless, the well-written documents such as medical records and Doctor Reviews for high voltage ensure, not least because we do not just read about the occupants, but this just insane how brilliantly drawn characters will actually run later on the way.
As in Amnesia we are totally unarmed go. As soon as we hit enemies, we should run, there's no tomorrow, and as quickly as possible look for a suitable hiding place. We rush through courses, barricade doors to give us a lead, crawl under beds, in closets or ventilation shafts and sincerely hope that we are not yet discovered.
These escape sequences are staged fantastic play fluently and are not for the faint of heart. Only some trial and error moments where we just do not have the faintest idea which way to flee, tarnish the otherwise brilliant overall impression of these passages.
In a game that is as consistent with its atmosphere and falls like Outlast, of course, the staging of has to be right - and the corresponding soundscape anyway. Although at times low detail standard occupant repeat very often, but the occasional boss battles are beyond reproach, and the lighting effect can create just acting in conjunction with the authentic night vision mode again goosebumps moments. Simply brilliant way to fall from the soundtrack and sound effects.
From the oppressive fear in the air, to the wonderfully insane inmates who like to chat nice with me and then rip out my organs want - Outlast understood quite excellent on me not only to shock, but to really strike fear. Playful little to me but is offered. Behind the unnerving horror stuck a fairly simple creep mechanics, undemanding climbing passages and Simple tasks of the brand "find the key card." These weaknesses are but soon forgotten once again is a crazy doctor after me and I will cut off my feet ...
Score: 80 / 100
