Patch v1.05 - More Community Love!

Bringing some more of your requests to life with another big quality of life and bugfix patch. Keep the feedback coming, and the bug reports, they’re making a difference!


  • Players can now Pause in single player mode by hitting the esc key (you can finally enjoy those long, leisurely bathroom breaks!!)
  • UI windows now save their position

  • Added ability to pause when esc is used when playing in Single Player
  • Added Auto fill button to appropriate factories
  • Corrected a few issues with factories
  • Corrected an issue where players that die in a vehicle might not dismount

About the Game

Suit up as an operative of the Ark Corporation, sent to the farthest reaches of the universe in search of habitable planets to terraform. However, after the long space journey you awaken from cryosleep to find that your ship has gone way off course and is disabled near a strange new world. With no choice but to descend to the surface and figure out how to survive long enough to complete your mission, you step into the escape pod.

Along the way you’ll gather resources to craft armor, weapons, facilities, and vehicles to help you explore the world and conquer its aggressive inhabitants. Your base of operations will evolve from a few basic facilities exposed to the elements into a hardened fortress full of advanced technologies that let you accomplish amazing improvements to your equipment and alter the environment itself.

Be careful, though; almost everything down there wants to kill you, including fierce laser space sharks, artillery-toting polar bears, wickedly quick jetpack penguins, and even crazier horrors. Out on the Edge of Space, you must adapt or you die. Good luck, ArkCo Operative!

So here we are....finally at 1.0 and we still feel like we are in a beta.
The game is laggy, choppy, the sprites clip and glitch around, the physics are wonkey for gravity (shoot enemy they fly straight upwards?), it's such a mess at the start. Their idea of a tutorial involves talking to a flying shark and gathering's very dull.

I'm sad that waiting for nearly a year on this resulted in this mediocrity. Stick with terraria, this feels like a generic knock off terraria in space.

I am content to say that this game satisfies the Sci-fi itch of a 2D open world for me. Being a follower via Early Access; I must say that this game has come a long way in its development, and I am quite happy with the launch result. The game runs smooth, the 2D graphics are amazing; I definitely love how the developers broke away from the typical pixel art you see in most games of the genre. What definitely makes me appreciate this game, is not only the quality of the visuals and the sound; but what makes it different from other games like Starbound or Terraria.

+ Exceptional 2D artwork and visuals, definitely shines brighter than others of its genre.
+ Nice and fitting contemporary Sci-fi theme.
+ Biome diversity and abundance of interesting places to explore.
+ The PIOS system which allows you to wire power to objects.
+ Technology tree and research aspects are present.
+ Fairly interesting backstory.
+ Nice boss fights.
+ Nice crafting system.

= The game feels grindy, but at the same time it prolongs the game.
= Some of the companions are rehashed earth creatures. Meh.

- Sometimes, there is an excessive amount of creature spawns.
- Some creatures have a very obnoxious knockback.

Overall: If you like these kind of open-world, randomly generated 2D platform games; this is definitely for you.

The released non early access version of the game is a lot of fun. They have improved the UI, and got rid of the broke tutorial. The game feels very feature complete with tons of things to build, research, and find. If you like Terraria and were disappointed in Starbound, then you very well may like this game.

Awesome game! Has really changed since when it was first released. I decided to sit down and play it again (I hadn't played it in months) and I could really see the changes. Way to go Handyman! Glad I purchased the special edition a long time ago, totally worth it.

So, ill start with addressing the mixed views.. most of the bad comments you see about this game are from back when the game was in pre-alpha.. since then this amazing team has made this game beautiful and have really come a long way.. I should know I played this back before it was even on steam, but thats my opinion. AND dont let my time played on steam fool you, trust me I have hours soaked into this game.

Now for the pros and cons.

-tons of weapons
-tons of armor
-lots of really cool mounts, such as SPACE RAPTORS, gaint crabs, mechs and gunships, even ones that help you build and mine!
-lots of really cool decor and important building items
-has a really cool power system in which you can root a power supply to your lights, doors, and even crafting stations.
-a great number of really cool enemies to fight from flying jellyfish to polarbears with artillery cannons on their backs.
-has dungeons with some rather awesome boss fights
-3 types of armor, fighter, builder and explorer, each pretty self explanatory.
-constant updates which always fix problems and bring in awesome new toys.
-as is, the game has a ton of fun content that will keep you busy for hours.

I could keep going but I think you get the point.


-You dont own this game
-has a few bugs, nothing really GAME breaking, except for the UI problems, opening menus and such lag the menus out, this while really game breaking is being broken down on as we speak, so in a week or two you can most likely ignore this.
-needs a bit more upbeat music, mostly for events etc.

Well honestly thats all I can think of.. if you are a fan of games like terraria or starbound, or just a fan of 2d games where you can build, then give this game a go its great! With the speed of updates and endless content they can put out for it im sure this game will keep going strong for a long time, once they fix that UI lag... good bye social life.
