Fun sniper game, but sometimes repetitive levels, and mechanics get tiresome. Worth buying for those who enjoy FPS or stealth themed games.

I don't need to tell you the misc parts so here's the most important one...
It took me 3 hours for 1 mission...and that's the 2nd mission.
It's stealth is very good and gameplay synchs with the stealth.
Perfect match if you ask me,
Worth it(on sale).

The follow bullet thing is cool but it happens for every single sniper kill. youre required to kill 50 people a mission and to watch it 50 times a mission is annoying. AI is terrible, story is horendous and so is the voice acting. I only pushed myself to finish the story because I sent the money and I didnt want it to be a waste.

The main game (i.e. solo and coop mode) is really great to play, especially authentic mode, since the player doesn't know the map and enemy possitions well. But it gets boring from the 3rd time of playing. You know exactly when and where what is gonna happen. Trying out different loadouts or playing styles doesn't help much. Also AI's patterns are too simple.

PVP are perfect imo. Though not much player would go into authentic setting rooms (high gravity high wind and normal rifle damage).

Hope they make AI and plot settings better in SE4.

Starts game
Fires sniper rifle
Bullet travels in slow motion, smashes a soldiers entire row of teeth to pieces, travels down his throat and smashes through his upper spine with gargling noises filling the air and blood playing everywhere.

Would study human anotomy again.

Sniper Elite is a fantastic WW2 stealth shooter, where you play as OSS officer Karl Fairburne (known from the previous SE games) set on a special mission to hunt down the German general Vahlen. The game takes place on the North African front. You fight both Italian and German armed forces. As you progress trough eight missions, you gradually reveal Vahlen's plans to build a superweapon and, of course, face himself at the end of the game.

Sniper Elite is also a tactical shooter, which means that, first, you explore your surroundings, and then you plan your attack. You can play stealthy or just rush through the maps. Stealthy gameplay is recommended. Not only it's safer, but it's where this game shines the most.

You can sneak behind enemies and take down them with a knife, you can set traps, you can distract and isolate enemies to kill them in a quiet spot, you can blow a vehicle or explosives near the enemies, you can set up a chain reaction, you can snipe them both with and without sound masking, you can shoot them with a silenced pistol - the options are, indeed, many and all of them are fun.

As to the weapons, it's almost all WW2 arsenal (American, Brittish, Soviet, Polish, Japanese. German, Italian), including Panzerfaust, a special rocket launcher in the DLC mission "Belly of the Beast", dynamites, trip-mines, s-mines, hand grenades and land-mines. Not all weapons are available in the base version of the game, though. And, you'll need to unlock some weapons and weapon parts, as you progress through the campaign and ranks. The equipement consists of a sniper rifle, an assault rifle/shotgun/panzerfaust, a pistol and 5 items (explosives/anti-armor ammo or medkits).

Each mission is unique, each level is unique, it's really fun to explore the surrounding, not knowing what's behind the corner, when you play for the first time. The level design is one of the greatest that I have seen. I don't know who is the senior level designer, but, apparently, Rebellion has the right team for the job, because the level design is always excellent in the SE games.

The graphics are beautiful, as well. I did find the colours a bit too saturated, but, nevertheless, graphic quality is high and you do need a pretty solid system to run this game on highest settings. Also, the fact that North Africa is not that common setting in videogames makes SE3 to stand out. It adds a bit of extra fun.

Finally, this game has a CoOp mode and it's a "real" CoOp, you can play all campaign missions with your friends.

The other modes are survival challenges (solo or MP) and PvP. I did not try PvP, but I tried 10 waves in the Survival mode. I found it boring. Luckily, with the campaign and DLCs missions, there is enough content, so that you don't feel like you've wasted money on nothing.

The DLC packs Target Hitler: Hunt the Gray Wolf and Save Churchill are highly recommended. As to the weapon packs, see for yourself, how much money you want to spend. The default M1 Garand + Welrod are pretty much the only weapons you need. I also used: Lee Enfield, T99 (Axis Weapon Pack) and Springfield rifles (Patriot Weapon Pack). But, if you play stealthy and aim for the head, there is not much difference, which sniper rifle you use. I got all the DLC packs with the Season Pass. From secondary weapons, I also recommend: Panzerfaust and Semi-Auto HDM. MP40 comes handy, if you don't choose to play stealthy, as MP40 magazines are always available behind the enemy lines.

My overall rating: 9/10

I am Garrus Vakarian and this is now my favourite game on the Summer sale.

P.S.: If this ends with the both of us dying in a giant explosion killing a Reaper, just remember. I took the kill shot.

It's got the same shooting mechanics as Sniper Elite V2, but the level design, health, and stealth mechanics are changed such that instead of being a cover shooter, it's more of a tactical and strategic, somewhat open-ended combat stealth game. Overall, I think I like V2 slightly more because 3 distracts from the excellent shooting with merely good strategic considerations, but this one is still quite fun.

If you ask me...."Sniper Elite 3" is the best of the series so far. While the previous installments stuck to Europe....this game takes place in Africa. Which means instead of traveling through war torn and narrow get to snipe targets in wide open spaces. The sniping mechanics are still reliable as ever and if you know what you are should rarely miss a shot. To make said have an entire arsenal at your disposal. Everything from rifles...sub-machine explosives. Not to can pick exactly what you what from the main menu once you've unlocked everything. For those that want more of a can always sneak up on an unexpecting adversary and peform a stealth takedown....which will either result in a neck-breaker....or a knife to the throat. The missions are challenging but fair and if you are the type of person who likes to take their time and collect everything....then you can easily spend 2+ hours on a single level alone. The game has plenty of achievements to keep one occupied....along with DLC missions that are well worth the price of admission. Speaking of price....the game usually retails for around $49.99....but I picked up the game for the low, low price of $9.99 while it was on sale. Rebellion products are on sale often enough and you can usually expect something in the 50% - 75% off range. No matter what you spend....if you like sniper games....for now you can do no better.

A Single Serving of Goreporn.

  • Large, open levels.
  • Amazing co-op experience.
  • Multiple ways to approach each level and play style.
  • Glorious gore moneyshots. (If you're into that kind of thing)

  • Physics engine seems dated, but it worked well enough.
  • Movement and animations seem a bit stiff.
  • Graphics leave something to be desired.

  • Story is almost nonexistent.
  • AI is pretty derpy, even on the harder difficulties.

Get it on sale. Even with its issues I'd recommend it for the right price.

This game is similar to the Hitman series, which is a good thing. I enjoyed stealthily killing enemies, making sure to get everyone on each mission. I didn't realize until halfway through the game that unlike Hitman, it doesn't really matter whether bodies are found, and thus stopped spending hours per mission sneakily killing people in a manner that allowed me to dispose of their corpses. On the later missions I began to experience significant bugs, such as multiple copies of the same enemy spawning in the same location. A few times this made for easy double kills, but it seemed my bullets wouldn't kill more than two stacked enemies, and I sometimes saw three. All in all, it was worth buying and playing, so I give it a 'buy-it-on-sale' thumbs up.
