The fact that the words "realistic" and "simulator" were used in the advertising of this game makes me wonder what the world is coming to.

More technical difficulties than a state school server room. For the want of a new release after V2 for the same reasons, I can't see how there's been any improvement on the first. While the gameplay sets in after a couple of missions, there's a feel for how the Welrod and rifle pair up, but the last save point becomes the most used feature. The list of issues can be accredited to jittery animations, almost like they know you're watching, and the age old know-it-all AI. Take down an alerted enemy, the only of several who know where you are, and the rest come running to your exact position, never having seen you. There also seems to be a bug in the way concealed gunfire works in conjunction with a canon or dodgy stationary motor. Countless times the AI went on alert after shooting during the covering noise, making it confusing to know the outcome of options. AI enjoyed screwing up multiple attempts by detecting my movement through walls, and I don't mean on account of running, but by their mesh sifting through the wall and somehow seeing me. A WTF moment including being shot by a soldier who was shooting me, as he hung suspended in a wall (see screenshots). Other soldiers fired through the corners of buildings, without head-view of my position. A run through the underground/basement tunnel of a hill somehow alerted soldiers on the summit, as they cascaded down to my position. The animations even included unnatural movements making well set up rifling utterly clumsy. Most rifle nests also come with no gunfire cover, so it's game on if you want to use them. The upside of all this bumbling around is cracking the idiodic AI in the melon with a big calibre rifle. After all, they embody the frustrations with clunky algorithms well enough to feel a sense of satisfaction popping a pair of eyes out. It works really well on the level of infuriating the player into enough of a rage to really want to put a thousand pounds of shrapnel into the back of someone's centre mass. The problem is, and many times over, this often won't kill the target, as they fumble forward, about face, and successfully put machine gun bullets in your head from the hip a good 70 metres off. Lovely. :/

That game is really bad , first its all about the stealth but your sniper doesn't have any supressor , your sniper is like a nerf gun on the enemies and they snipe you with and mp 40 . After that let me talk about the story is nothing and the hole game is 8 little mission. You shouldn't buy that game it's suck. 0/10

I hate it when enemies spawn behind you in places you've not only checked out but also mined off enough to blow up the entire map.
The bullet camera gets tiresome REAL fast.
Extremely few snipers and weapons in general.
DLC that gives you things that should've been included in the main game, such as more snipers.
Story is the bare minimum.

+
I would've given it a recommend regardless of all these things... if it also didn't cost a small fortune (45.99€ at the moment) for such an unpolished game.
The gameplay, albeit somewhat inconsistent and extremely repetitive, is alright.
You can turn off the bullet camera.

I played this game coop with a friend and we got bored after 90 minutes. The gameplay and AI are glitchy, the levels we played were repetitive and had the same objectives over and over. It just wasnt enough to continue playing and is nowhere near worth $50. Please be smart and buy a better game with this money, or throw it at hookers. Its whatever

Really just... incredibly dull and not fun. The levels are poorly designed and the enemies aren't challenging and the storyline just isn't all that great. Coop mode isn't a whole lot of fun either. The game is just not amusing enough to keep playing. It's just not any improvement over Sniper Elite 2.

Go play Sniper Elite 2. It's more fun, and can be gotten on sale for much cheaper. This one just isn't fun.

It's got the same shooting mechanics as Sniper Elite V2, but the level design, health, and stealth mechanics are changed such that instead of being a cover shooter, it's more of a tactical and strategic, somewhat open-ended combat stealth game. Overall, I think I like V2 slightly more because 3 distracts from the excellent shooting with merely good strategic considerations, but this one is still quite fun.

A Single Serving of Goreporn.

Pros:
  • Large, open levels.
  • Amazing co-op experience.
  • Multiple ways to approach each level and play style.
  • Glorious gore moneyshots. (If you're into that kind of thing)

Neutral:
  • Physics engine seems dated, but it worked well enough.
  • Movement and animations seem a bit stiff.
  • Graphics leave something to be desired.

Cons:
  • Story is almost nonexistent.
  • AI is pretty derpy, even on the harder difficulties.

Get it on sale. Even with its issues I'd recommend it for the right price.

I am Garrus Vakarian and this is now my favourite game on the Summer sale.

P.S.: If this ends with the both of us dying in a giant explosion killing a Reaper, just remember. I took the kill shot.

Something with this is off - it's just not fun.

Graphics are pretty but the story is so trash with its cookie cutter yank with gravel stuck down his gullet. The whole bullet camera thing gets old really fast and you'll find yourself turning it off in options (which is handy to be fair). COOP is boring and usually ends up in the two of you sat on some rock of roof picking the stupid AI off as the run in walls and bales of hay.

The whole lighting dynamite with flint is just fiddly for the sake of it as well.

TL;DR: Utterly boring due to the stupid AI, terrible story and forgetful characters and repetitve mechanics. I didn't even bother to waste my time trying to finish it.

Very good Sniping game although pretty short campaign. Levels are bigger than V2 with more ways to approach each one.

Loved the more open feel to the levels.

Wouldn't say it's worth full price (£40) but definitely worth checking out when it's on sale like I did (£8)

Highly enjoyable and a worthy sequel to the brilliant Sniper Elite V2. Looking forward to the 4th entry.

Great game, really enjoy playing it! Definitely worth the 10 dollars during summer sale, not sure if it is worth 50, although. This is a must play if you enjoy games that have optional stealth in almost every mission, and if you enjoy co-op campaign.

Mmm.... okay I guess.

Sniper Elite 3 (SE3) is, like it's predecessor, a third person game where you play as a US sniper who goes around and tries to sneakily whack people who are up to no good. Specifically Germans involved in creating "wunderwaffen", or "wonder weapons" such as the V1, V2, Me-262 and other such projects that, while coming too late to make much difference in the war (Germany was ♥♥♥♥ed by then), were nevertheless cutting edge technology for the time and were the first forms of some of the technologies that we still use today (Cruise Missiles, ICBM's/Atmospheric Rockets, and Jet Aircraft respectively). But since these are war efforts being made by the enemy, your job naturally is to mess them up.

Story-wise this game really isn't worth much. The "wonder weapon" showcased in this game is so impractical and absurdly large that it sucked me out of the story and made me think "yeah, this is a crock." And when a player's reaction to the core part of your game's story is that it is nonsense, then you have a real problem. In other words, you don't play this game for the story.

No, what you play it for is shooting people, and this game's rather uncomfortable need to show me in graphic slow-motion detail of how the bullets I shoot tunnel their way into another person's head/chest/etc and messes up their insides. This existed in SE2, but it seems to happen more often this time. And while you can skip it, I suppose the first few times it happens is kind of novel, if only to know where your bullets are headed. Otherwise, the game itself functions just fine. The stealth is better done, there are more toys to play with, and all the other sorts of little improvements you should expect from a game sequel.

But... here I come to a problem. I don't hate this game. I don't really dislike it. But I don't think it's very good either. It's fairly short, lacks in story, and the "killcam" thing messes up the game's pacing a fair bit (unless you skip it). In other words, this would be a "Maybe" on steam if that was an option, but it's not. If I had to give it an arbitrary "score" I'd say it's a 7/10, or "average".

But since we live in a world where so many things are "below average", particularly in the endless tide of nonsense that finds itself on Steam, an average competent semi-stealthy shooter game kinda does deserve a "yes", if only to distinguish it from all the garbage far worse than this game that deserves to be tossed into a bin and set on fire. SE3, for all it's faults, is not a bad game. Just... don't expect me to replay it unless I get a sudden urge to watch bullets tunnel their way into people's heads. :o

Bwee...
