ISO Contest!

As you may know, we are about to launch the final in the next month. And for the final version of our game, we are gonna need a bunch of ISOs as defaulted templates in the creation system. And we need your imagination to create some simple but nice items for us.

Equipment: Sword, Shield, Gun, Bow, Axe
Carrier: Small Vehicle, Large Vehicle, Helicopter, Battleship, Boat
Object: tiny (fine, rough), small (fine, rough), large (fine, rough)
Armor: head, body, arm and leg, hand and foot, decoration
Robot (fine, rough)
AI Turret

Please choose one of above type to create. If you prefer to make an object, or a robot, please do create both fine and rough ones (the fine and the rough will not require exact the same, but should look similar).

Rewards:
1. If your work has been chosen, you will get a steam key as reward. If you provided us multiple ISOs, and more than one of your pieces got chosen, then you will get more than one steam key (one steam key for one ISO).
2. The author will be also named in the credit list.

Requirements:
1. Please keep the item as simple as possible.
2. For the equipment that are made of the same materials, please keep their attack level and the defense level consistence.
3. Please do not place weapons on the carrier.
4. Please do not use customized materials or textures.
5. ISO shall not contain illegal content.
6. Please do not copy other people's design or the existing design.
7. You can add description or your signature in the ISO.

Deadline: August 31th.

Beta 0.3 Released on Steam

An update that mostly patches up story bugs.

Fixed fish swimming above water
Fixed mainline NPC not returning to give missions when being sent out as workers
Fixed character creator using a lot of memory
Fixed falling through the ground sometimes when fast travelling in adventure
Fixed talk icon not showing up for Allen Carter
Fixed replicator being able to replicate the number selected when a replication process is already going
Fixed replicator giving twice the amount of resources when pressing cancel during replication process

In Planet Explorers, it is the year 2287, one of the first colony ships sent out by Earth arrives at the planet Maria, in the Epsilon Indi Star System. During its landing sequence, something appears in front of the massive ship that causes it to lose control and crash into the planet. Some of the colonists survive in lifeboats, but what they find is an unforgiving land filled with creatures ready to outlast the visitors from Earth. Now the survivors must explorer, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, build a new home.

Game Modes


Planet Explorers will feature single and multiplayer modes.

In single player there are 3 distinct selections

  • Story Mode – Story mode is the main meat and bones of the game, it is the action-adventure-rpg-somewhat-4X segment, offering npcs, missions, colony building, farming, ranching, training, diplomacy, and of course, a storyline that you can follow or ignore. This story features a 17X8km world map with many unique character, landscapes, biomes, locations, and over 100 types of potential enemies. Even though we’ve made it seem like a very action oriented game in the trailers, in reality, players can choose to not fight so much as to just plant a farm, make some food, keep the colonists alive, negotiate with the sentient aliens, and defend the perimeter from the local life forms. That can still eventually arrive at the ending. And yes, there is an ending. Story mode also features coop with other players.

  • Adventure Mode – This mode is based on a procedural map generated from a seed. Currently, it comes in a 40X40 kilometer map. Players will be able to complete random missions, defeat bosses, and explore different landscapes in the mode and eventually be able to setup conditions that they want to play (such as tower defense or attack an alien camp). This mode will also feature survival gameplay. The randomization in this mode will eventually pull in player made objects and locations so that a world will always feature something new and unique.

  • Build Mode – In this mode, there are no enemies and an infinite amount of building material. It also currently comes in a 40X40km map. Players will be able to build whatever they want in this mode, including everything in the Creations Editor. Think of this as the perfect testing ground to test everything you build. Or…it’s your place to build your garden without ever worrying about the pesky aliens.

Multiplayer allows Local Area Network and player hosted servers. It features several modes but some are still on the drawing board or going through technical trials so the final result is still in flux. Players playing multiplayer should be able to bring at least one of their created objects into multiplayer games, be it a sword, gun, or vehicle.

  • Coop – Coop comes in many selections, such as adventure mode, tower defense mode, build mode, etc. This is pretty much an open world sandbox with a max of 32 players (this number still needs to be stress tested).

  • Versus – This mode allows teams of up to 16 players to battle against 16 players from another team. We allow full terrain manipulation in this mode. Currently, it's a point based system where one team wins if they reach a certain point level based on kills, built objects, resources mined, etc.

This is the best sandbox game that ive seen and its also using voxels wich is amazing, Since you can build wich such detail its just purely insane. This game will absolutly stay on my favourite list for a long time ahead.

A nother joke indie game....how do you cut the trees with the knife??? i didnt manage the first task? is the game broken?
the first person view how do you change???. How come everbody likes this games something is fishy...

Nice concep but... Just realized my computers too old for this game :(

NOTE
WON'T WORK WITH LOW END COMPUTERS.. :(

Although I borrowed my brothers computer and it was awesome, the few moments that I actually got to play it, recommended (just please... check if your computer can run it first... I thought mine could because the graphics didn't look THAT good on the pictures)

Planet Explorers is an excellent idea of a game, still is early access and got some issues but is ton of fun and shows a lot of potential for future.

Dig, chop, shoot, slash, build! easiest way to explain it, got a semi-voxel sort of world, it looks smooth like something you would see from most games but acts same way as a voxel game when digging or building, making it very easy to make things like forts or other fun structures, you can even build your own custom weapons and vehicles as well as objects!

The combat is pretty classic action style, using guns and swords... even got shields as well as armours.

Singleplayer campaign got a interesting story to it, personally I have not really played much of the campaign, as I've spent most time on this in multiplayer together with fellow explorers!

This is a game I am keeping my eyes on as it updates and gets improved, I recommend this towards those of you that are into more adventure style games with voxel building elements.
