Pros:
+ Fun and addicting gameplay which is familiar to anyone who has played platformers on the NES
+ Awesome soundtrack. Great mixture of chiptune tracks (bought the soundtrack straight after hearing for the first time)
+ A must for the AVGN fan; playable characters, power-ups and more reference the AVGN videos.

Cons:
- Difficulty at times can come across as unfair, especially if playing on normal difficulty.
- Fairly short. There are 9 not very long stages and the entire game can be beat under an hour by an experienced gamer

Verdict: 9/10

Comments:
Overall, Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is a fantastic game that pays homage to classic 8-bit platformers and is a must for AVGN fans. The difficulty may be a turn off for some people but is perfect for people who enjoy a challenge. The energetic soundtrack is the cherry on the cake which makes the whole experience a really enjoyable one. Can't recommend enough.

P.S. I highly recommend the soundtrack as a separate purchase to anyone who enjoys chiptune music

It's very hard but very addictive. The music is epic and is some of my favorite VGM ever. The game suits the Nerd and his games. Some deaths can be cheap but the game over screen is the best so sometimes it's fun yro die. Overall, game gets 8/10

The game has its pros and cons. First off, I would only recommend this game if you get it on sale.

Pros:
great soundtrack
colorful levels
fun characters
its a game about the angriest gamer you've ever heard
its gonna take you back to the past

Cons:
Deathblocks for artificial difficulty increase
levels do seem repetative
bosses have simple patterns and are usually easier then the level itself
The extra characters are optional and don't provide anything groundbreaking in the gameplay
Death quotes
It is based off of a few ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games that suck ♥♥♥

This game is not for everyone and it should be advised that although no required, a gamepad makes the game SO MUCH BETTER.

With the riotous popularity of the Angry Video Game Nerd video series, a game inspired by the series was inevitable. As a fan of The Nerd, I was very excited to play this. And while AVGN Adventures is certainly an admirable attempt to revive the sidescrolling genre, as well as raise awareness of many ♥♥♥♥♥♥ retro games, it doesn't execute this as well as it could have.

Death blocks everywhere, the level design in this game is pretty redundant. As is the humor; which takes the easy route by primarily pulling from the most juvenile parts of the video series. The Nerd's randomized one-liners that appear when you die are amusing at first, but they quickly grow old after your fifty-somethingth death. Despite what you might expect, this game isn't unfair. Difficult, sure. But it never crosses the line between tough and burdensome.

I recommend this game for fans only. Otherwise, this game is a pretty average sidescroller that could have been much better with due dev time.

5/10 - Average

Very hard to recommend.

Utilizing copy-paste death blocks, cheap death designs, and many of the worst tropes of video game design does not make this a great game. Ironically poking fun at the flaws of yesteryear doesn't elevate your game above those same flaws. This, overall, leads to a frustrating experience. The entire game I felt like I was gritting my teeth and telling myself: "But, it's AVGN, it's ScrewAttack, they're all the best, this can't be bad..."

The namebrand is what sells this. If you're a fan of the series, there's plenty to love and discover from the show. You may die a dozen times along the way, but it's still exciting to point out all the AVGN moments. Also, the music is absolutely top notch and the highlight of this game.

I'm sure there's enough blind fan ambition to rate this up, but I cannot recommend it to anybody but the most dedicated of fans.

If you’re a fan of frustratingly difficult platformers, crude humor, old NES games, or the AVGN on YouTube, then you should check this game out. It pretty much plays like a NES game, though the graphics and music are *slightly* more modern. It’s hard, but not too hard. It gets easier if you keep practicing, and is very rewarding when you manage to finish a level. There’s also tons of references to NES games, which you’ll probably know from AVGN’s videos, and the music is awesome too.

My only complaint is that it seems to crash quite a lot, especially when I’m near the end of a level. Ugh. Maybe that's just me.
