As it suggests the Jedi Code from Star Wars: "The Jedi use their power for the defense and protection of others, but never for attack.
A real-time strategy game where one side plays the defending, immobile alien towers and the other the attacking human convoy sounds incredibly strange. The story in Anomaly 2 is extremely thin, acts mainly as flavor text for the action that there is no shortage of. Different levels set against a barren, cold, and war-torn landscape of mountains and cities, which really looks very amazing.
With additional room for strategy and planning, you the convoy captain and run around the map support your team in battle. Instead of your units to do any action, you have to use skills such as health and generators decoys to support your units in battle. The real-time action pauses while you plot your path and upgrade or rearrange your units, giving you moments to consider what's ahead and adjust accordingly. Each of the units in the convoy can convert into a different mech form with different battle characteristics, allowing you to dynamically change your convoy to gain strategic advantage over the aliens.
The multiplayer is where Anomaly 2 deserves applause, offering a blend of tower offense and defense gameplay, depending on which side you play for. Both sides can also upgrade their technology levels, opening up access to better units and towers, plus additional stat boosts. Features like stat tracking, matchmaking, leaderboards and persistent ranks. If a player reach 1,000 points, the game is over. Because both sides are constantly adjusting their lines of action or defense.
The tower defense game is one of the best, and the gameplay is a welcome change. Going back on the offensive for another round of mechanized tower thrashing still offers a fun challenge. The multiplayer is a whole new way of experiencing the game becomes available.
Score: 79 / 100
