It was not as difficult as the first, however, it was quite fun to play with friends. PvP improved.

Great game, but stated System specs for DS II are really off mark.

Plays perfectly on high settings on an AMD X2 64 5000+, 3GB of Ram and a Radeon 4850 512MB.

DS III also runs perfectly on high settings on a Phenom x4 955, 4Gb Ram, GTX 750 ti 2GB.

No overclocking.

Product received for free
First 20 hours: Getting smashed by everything and even getting trough a small area seems like an accomplishment.
After 50 hours:Stop getting rekt from almost everything and start getting used to the game, although some areas are still a pain in the fu#*$&@@ a$$ to get through. But you manage by taking 1000 lifegems with you and killin one enemy at a time.
After 150 hours: Start mastering the game and its mechanics, every bossfight is still pretty hard, but after 30 retries, having praise the sun guys helping you and reading every wiki article that is out there, you manage to do it and finish your second playthrough. Then you discover pvp.U'll either get some lucky kills at the arena or you'll get matched with masters in pvp with like 5000 hours only on pvping and rek your sorry a$$.After that you'll quit and never play any other dark souls again.

After playing through the original Dark Souls, it boggles my mind how people thought this would be a good sequel. Atrifical difficulty, hard only for the sake of stalling for time and creating frustration, hardly any reason at all to actually play through the game, especially considering how everything seems to be made with contempt for the player. Could've been much better, but I suppose that's why they made a Dark Souls 3.

Dark Souls II receives a lot of unwarranted hate and dislike. While the second installment in the Souls series (third if we count Demon's Souls), is not as great as the first one, It's certainly worth a playthrough if you're a fan of the series.

Let's start off with the positives. This time around, the PC version is not a complete mess, it runs very well and even the keyboard controls are manageable, even though I'd still prefer a controller. They've improved co-op as well, by introducing a special ring you can use, to make it easier to summon your friends. The game is also bigger than Dark Souls 1, though as you'll read later, this is a negative as well. Out of all the Souls games I have played, Dark Souls II offered the most variety in armour and weaponry, making it better than both Dark Souls 1 and 3 if you wanted to do a cosplay or challenge build.

Now for some of the negatives. There's two big issues you'll find in this game. The first one is that they chose for quantity over quality. There are more bosses and areas than ever before - but none of them stand out as much, which is a real shame. Many of the bosses are forgettable, thanks to being similar in either design or moveset. They've also decided to make the game more difficult in an artificial way. By placing more groups of enemies together and by allowing enemies to do full 360 degrees spins, just to face you.
And while they introduced a special ring to help you summon your friends more easily, they also gimped online connectivity as whole, thanks to Soul Memory.

For those who don't know what Soul Memory is, it's the combined total of souls you have ever acquired, regardless of if you used them. This works in a tiering system, if you're in a higher tier, you will not be able to invade or summon people from lower tiers, and vice versa. At first, this completely killed the online after a certain point. With the introduction of Scholar of the First Sin, though, another ring was added which disabled any soul gain. This way, you'd have to sacrifice a ring slot, but at least you wouldn't end up in a lonely, high tier without anyone to invade or summon.

Pros and Cons:

+ Tried something different rather than piggyback off Dark Souls 1 (which is what 3 did).
+ Most variety in weapons, movesets and equipment.
+ Improved the ability to summon your friends with the special ring.
+ Solid port and controls.
+ 90% of all DLC is great in level design ánd bosses.

+/- Replay value is higher thanks to the variety in weaponry and such. But since the world is much less open than in Dark Souls 1, you'll end up going the exact same routes most of the time.

- Soul memory, albeit fixed with a workaround, was still a bad decision.
- World, bosses and story are far less interesting.
- Soundtrack is not as impressive.
- Added difficulty for the sole purpose of being difficult.
- Massive downgrade in graphics before release.
