The first Dark Souls is my favorite game of all time. When I heard that there was a second Dark Souls, I couldn't wait to play it. As soon as I opened the game, I was so disappointed. Dark Souls is known for being hard, but it was always a fair challenge. In Dark Souls II, the developpers wanted to up the difficulty. I get it, you want to make the game harder, but putting traps, ambushes and just unfair things isn't the right way. They slowed down the time it takes to drink estus flasks which heal you, they added many unecessary boss fights, they made hitboxes way bigger and put the invincibility time of your dodges way shorter making dodging and not getting hit way harder to do. The only thing that keeps me going is the sense of acheivement I get from defeating a boss and that 5 minutes of happiness I get until I realize why I disliked the game in the first place. The areas are kinda short making this game feel like a boss run. When I reach a boss, I'm not giving up until I've beaten it and the cycle restarts. I heard it gets a bit better later in the game and I hope its true, but for now I'm really disappointed. If you want to get in the Dark Souls franchise either start with Dark Souls III or the first one.

Only get this version if you want to use mods, some of which greatly improve the lighting to make it look as good as the E3 Demo as well as make the torch item actually useful. Otherwise, stick to the Scholar of the First Sin version.

Although it does look spectacular, the game itself is frankly...well boring. Enemies are annoying, the tutorial is ridiculous, and the overall experience just feels dull. I may be a newbie at DS, but c'mon. Going for III instead.

The game is very cool, well made, but the level of hardcore it rolls. The game has a lot of different locations, bosses, and different types of leveling or crafting weapons. If to say briefly that the game is cool, But if you have a computer more cool, then I advise you to play part 3 of this game.

Great game!

Listen, this took me awhile to get my head around but there are two versions of Dark Souls 2.

This is the original and then they re-released it in an act of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ary with better graphics and with some of the wrinkles ironed out. That version is called Dark Souls 2, Scholar of the First Sin.

So I bought this version and it wasnt bad in fact it was quite addictive. I sum up this game as being stuck in a bad dream because its all just so crazy but surreal at the same time.

The only thing it doesnt have going for it like the first Dark Souls game is that all the levels dont link up somehow. So you are reliant on bonfire travel to get around. Not a dealbreaker but you dont have that sense of awe when you come into a space that you have been before but through a door you didnt initially know how to get through.

Highly recommend the game, its just up to you to decide whether you want this version which is cheaper or the slightly more expensive version.

tibia honest, this is one of the most challenging games i've ever played. my girlfriend actually got me into this game. needless to say, she's much better at these dark souls games than i am. although i've improved a lot, the game always throws you a curve ball. whether that be an ambush, a new enemy (i was *not* prepared for darkdwellers), or an unexpected boss fight--you have to be prepared no matter what. and that's the interesting thing about dark souls 2, really.
it improves your reaction time and basically makes you hyper-observant; you reach a point at which you can feel it in your bones when something's not quite right.
sorry, sorry. ... these jokes are pretty bare boned.
anyway, happy soul farming.

Literally better than DS1 in every gameplay related way, the *only* reason I like DS1 more is nostalgia. If I plyed this game first I would consider it the best of the series. Because it is.
