Cranky Cat is simple (if you know Puzzle Bobble/Bust-a-Move) - it's PB with the board rotating, rather than you aiming new bubbles. The big problem is that especially later on, a lot of the boards will feel identical, and if you're going for 3-stars, the RNG nature of each stage is going to become a pain because sometimes you get a good run, and sometimes it just won't give you that one bubble of the right color to clear a path to the last two.
There's a Puzzle mode but it's hardly worth mentioning, because it comes down to "find the opening spot, rotate board appropriately to make all the bouncing pieces clear things". In fact, a huge part of why I find Cranky Cat kind of unfun stems from either a) gimmick boards where you can't blow up the biggest mass, or else the entire board will shift off-kilter and go out of bounds until you blow up two layers of bubbles, or b) reused boards over and over. I've seen one show up at least three times.
It's not a classic game by any means, is all I'm saying. The formula has some kinks.
