Starpoint Gemini Warlords now available

We're proud to announce that Warlords is now available in the Early Access program.

Warlords began as a result of the thousands and thousands of posts members of the community made during the Early Access of Staroint Gemini 2, and it is only appropriate we continue in this tradition. We're eager to see what You think of the game in its current state, what you think of our plans for it and to contribute to the discussions on the Steam board.

You'll notice we've reorganized the discussion board a bit, but the key addition is the Early Access Sitrep. We hope this will explain everything you wanted to know about Warlords. If not, please don't hesitate to ask. We'll be happy to answer.

Two new trailers are also ready for your capable review. You can find them on the store page.

Welcome back to Gemini, warlords!

About This Game

Captain your own space ship and roam the galaxy in 3D in this tactical space simulator with tons of RPG depth ! Space has never looked so inviting - but images can betray...

It has been two years since the end of the second Gemini war, the situation in the wartorn system is further from resolution than ever.
The collection of freedom fighters named Gemini League is now reduced to a small group, with no power or influence, after losing their leaders. The Empire meanwhile, has used the re-opened Starpoint to occupy the once renegade Gemini sector - and beyond.

A multitude of Imperial warship fleets and mammoth motherships have crushed every trace of opposition. The situation was looking bleak, when they suddenly halted their armada and re-shifted their focus on fortifying Starpoint with staggering numbers. Rumours soon spread that they were afraid of something coming after them through the T-gate, from what was supposed to be the core of the Empire. What are they running from that makes even the mighty Empire tremble?

Starpoint Gemini 2 will take players on a breath taking journey, with dark secrets and unimaginable twists that will finally unveil the incredible truth...

Key features:

  • Complex, but easy-to-use RPG system, now coupled with dynamic real-time 3D combat.
  • Explore the dynamic game world as a whole, rather than through individual maps.
  • Use T-Gates, wormholes and riftways to travel faster around the Gemini system .
  • Fifty diverse factions ranging from states and companies to outlaws, locked in a powerstruggle, with over 100 commodities to trade or plunder.
  • Special revocable licenses acquired from factions offer various bonuses and unlock new options.
  • Hire mercenary captains to follow you on your travels and share your fate, and employ officers to fill key positions on your ship (engineering, navigation, tactical).
  • Random missions get generated depending on the player’s actions and allegiances.
  • Over 70 unique ships, fully upgradeable with various ship systems, with a.o. visible turrets, and a large arsenal of destructive weapons to blast enemies to pieces.
  • Direct ship controls create complete immersion.
  • Advanced physics provided by NVIDIA PhysX technology

I picked this game up during a bundle but I wouldn't recommend it at any price point. Aweful voice acting, boring gameplay, and a seemingly nonsensical map structure are among the valid criticisms left by other negative reviews of this game.

I don't typically take time out of my day to publically trash on a game but there are quite simply much better options out there for your time and money.

This is coming from a CASUAL GAMER.
This game seems fairly fleshed out but I want a game where I can pick up and play.
This is my experience:
I started the game and said "WTF is going on!" The voice acting is bad and the first thing that happens is they say, "let's do a brief tutorial to defend yourself from pirates" and then she says, "I'm sure I don't have to remind you" tutorial.
I'm playing with an Xbox controller (it's supposed to be supported) but none of the buttons are properly mapped and the control buttons in the options menu are labelled as, "Joystickvertaxis1" and such. When brief little tutorial text blurbs show up LATER, I have no idea what they are talking about regarding what buttons do what. The game doesn't tell you what you need to know and I felt like the learning curve was so daunting, I gave up fairly quickly. Not only for that, but because the combat....You press one button to automatically fire and you just jet in circles until your AI kills everything. Boring as sin. Also I could never figure out how to adjust my speed beyond the afterburner button.
Casual gamers, PASS. I feel like I wasted my $

- Many ships
- Hard and addictive game play
- Many items
- Good guns variety
- Stealth +++
- PvE is awesome
- The feeling of power
- Drones <3
- Achievements

- Add more levels (heroes and missions can reach 120 level and the player has no chance)
- The story is not so good (I played 50 H and then I make the story in a carrier :))
- The game crashes randomly (this forced me to save on every station / planet I docked in very frustrating)
- The game sends the user to main menu randomly with no warning
- Playing the game with both "Secrets of Aethera" + "TItans" and perform them = Original -> TItans and then start Secrets will not let you board the station (station was already discovered before the walkthrough) and so the WTB (walkthrough breaker) will occur
- Performing ALT + TAB while in FULL SCREEN or just press on the secondary display by mistake and then return to the game will cause the game to remain in window mode with all game text cut off and almost unreadable (restart required)
- HUD is so 2006
- AI’s missile follow the player in “Power to engine” speed forever but the users have a range

I know I only have a few hours in on this game, but I already love it. It reminds me of the old game Freelancer in all the good ways, with a smattering of Darkstar One thrown in for good measure. It also has many features all its own, but if you liked either of those games, I think you will like this one. I already know that I will be coming back to play this game for long into the future.

The remake of the original starpoint gemini in the fashion of starpoint 2 was great and made the original evenn better. The second one has been fun to play so far.

This is just another generic, mediocre space fighting sim. There's no real hook in the story- in fact, the voice acting and scripts are just stupid. It's fun for a while, but very forgettable and probably not worth your time unless you like generic space fighting games that take very little brain power and have few customization/crafting options. The gameplay itself will keep you entertained in a casual gamer type of way, but this isn't anything special.

It is interesting but fairly basic compared to other spaceship exploration type of games. The combat is very fast and takes some of the nuance out of the skills. The UI is clunky and ship movement isn't very intuitive. Trading is simpliofied but won't really make you much money. Just doing the same 4 types of missions will net you the bulk of your income and experience. But I would have still have left a positive review if it weren't for the frequent crashes. These crashes aren't just the game, they often freeze up my system in a way I haven't experienced in years.

In researching this problem one comes across many attempted solutions (which I tried many) from others and then dev posts that point to it being a problem with Windows 10, and that they do not and will not support this game under Windows 10. Also read from the dev posts that "this game is 2 years old" so they are not focused on supporting it further. So, buyer beware.

If you are looking for a Elite type game look elsewhere!

If you are looking for a casual game where you can capture ships, command a carrier, and be a rich badass. Then this is for you.

At first glance I wasn't impressed by this game. Found the controls/interface a bit clunky, voice acting cheesy to say the least. However as I kept playing it kind of grew on me. Now I'm hooked. Can't wait for what the devs have in store for Warlords. Cheap good fun and many hours of game play.

-Freelancer 2.0
-Capitol ships.
-Ability to capture vessels and own them or sell them.
-Ability to lead a small fleet
-Simple control scheme, complex battle needs.
-Runs perfectly smooth for my mid grade computer
-Story line is not overly complex and compels you to keep upgrading your ship/fleet/character in order to survive

-Some dlc quests may get bugged if you load all DLC at start of a save. Forums have workarounds to help solve issues though
-Capturing ship to sell profit far out scales all other methods of profit (trade, mining, missions, etc) and after a playthrough of a character/ship tuned for this method, all other methods feel like roleplay, comparatively.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is a game extremely like Microsoft's Freelancer however instead of a choice of around 10* fighter sized ships (in vanilla freelancer), you will be getting a plethora of capitol sized ships from transports, frigates, cruisers, destroyers, and so on up to carrier and dreadnaught. Titan class if you get that dlc too.

Gameplay wise the game features easy controls to help you manage power towards shields, weapon batteries, and thrust, and you will be required to fluctuate this power as the game progesses and the needs of battle and speed get more intense.

I found the ui and gameplay to be very good. This game has been the best open space trader sim that I've played on steam yet.

Late game battles can be intense and even if you power through tens of ships at a time, you will need to be vigilant in your positioning, use of power, and abilites.

I see a lot of negative reviews for this game, and while it may be a bit repetative, I can't find any 3-D space RPGs that are as easy to control and not just pure spaceflight "simulator". The story and voice-overs are what you would expect from a space rpg, however that shouldn't really be the reason you play this game.

In my opinion, I have had loads of fun warping all over the galaxy doing manuevers around large carries and owning pirates and rebels with my plasma cannons and missiles. The amount of customizibility with your ship is off the chart for this game, however once you find your playing style and the best gear for that style you are kind of set.

You can also download other peoples mods and get fan made ships or docking hangers and other cool weapons not found in-game which is pretty sweet that the devs opened it up for modding.

All in all, this is a quality game that I went back and purchased the DLC's for because I thought the price justified the entertainment. If you like space games like the original escape velocity, or games like the app galaxy on fire you will like this game a lot.

90+ hours in game and I'm nowhere near finished with this thing! Totaly got my money's worth. I heard there are people with 1000+ hours and I know I'm not going there, but I'm pretty sure it will keep me occupied for many more hours.

Then again, with all DLCs it means even more time sunk into this amazing game. Keep up the good work developers!!!

Having just played through Rebel Galaxy, maybe I was expecting too much, but couldn't get into this. It lacks cohesive vision, just feels like a bunch of different game systems tacked on, and thrown together, with nothing in particular being well done. It's not terrible, just dull.

Combat is dull, trading is dull, the progression system is dull, weapon and ship variants, factions, characters, various ways of adding percentage bonuses to basic abilities, ship enhancement items, crew members you can hire, but nothing does anything interesting. The story is barely more than a distraction.

The gameworld is just a bunch of planets and stations clumped together in a cubic space, with a binary star painted in the background, like the scenery behind a fishtank. It's a space sim which seems to be created by people who have no interest in basic astronomy whatsoever. Disappointing.

This game was a big surprise for me. I was never much into heavy stuff like Star Citizen with their real physics and hardcore gaming. SPG2 is fun, entertaining, tense, interesting, relaxing, I cannot describe it in a few words. I found this by accident and decided to give it a try. It blew me away. Please, give it a shot. I doubt you'll regret it. Can't wait to see what will they come up with next! 11 out of 10!

Update Jun 2016.
Seeing and playing Warlords, you can tell how deeply these devs care about their players. Warlords is so much bigger and with so many stuff people wanted in SPG2, that I can recommend it over SPG2. But if you're relatively new to the genre, this gem is currently on massive 80% off and it's worth every cent.

Possibly one of the best games I have ever played and it isn't even finished! People litterally write to the devs wanting to pay more just to get more content. The devs unlike most care more about their legacy then making money. This is the perfect freelancer 2 which sadly never happened. You can explore, trade, raid ships, and despite forcing your progression, you can't fly ships you level isn't high enough for. The game battles are balanced, and even when you are flying mega ships, you can quickly find your self getting swarmed by many many smaller vessles.

There has to be a balance between devs and profits. Unlike Payday 2, this game NEEDS to sell updates to keep it going.

Flying around in space, blowing stuff up.
Although there are many games of this type out there Starpoint Gemini 2 manages to hooked me. Frankly I have no idea why. It's just relaxing - flying in your Titan, warping out in hostile a zone and watching as everything around your ship turns into space dust.

9/10 Because destroying asteroids by colliding with them is called creative mining.

I highly, highly recommend this title. Its vast universe will give you many hours of gameplay. Fantastic game, fantastic forums and support. Together with Secrets of Aethera and Titans, this is a huge game. Not to forget full original game port Origins, available as free DLC for all Starpoint Gemini 2 players.

Game is completely moddable so if you want to assume command of Enterprise or some other ship available in mods, you can. ;-)
