“The initial plan was to stay in Early Access for a shorter period, but the overwhelming amount of feedback from the community was a good indicator it would be wise to change our plans and focus on the things the community suggested, either in the form of new unplanned features, or in the form of tweaking some existing game features. Our plan is to exit Early Access and reach for the final version is September 2014. We’re confident we can do it!”

“Since we entered Early Access, we’ve released some 25-30 updates. We do it regularly, with each new update bringing something new: bug fixes, tweaks, new features, optimization… We will continue to do the exact same thing up until full version… and actually afterwards as well. No point in stopping, is there ;)? The full version will feature a complete campaign storyline, a bunch of side quests, more varied freelance (randomly generated) missions and a host of other features that will all add up to the gameplay experience.”

“The most prominent part is the freeroam mode, currently the only game mode available, but we should start implementing the campaign storyline piece by piece, and have it finalized for the full release. Steam Workshop is also fully integrated so feel free to check out some of the great mods members of the community have created. Since we update the game regularly, the best way of getting a glimpse of the current state of the game is to have a look at the reviews section and the discussion board.”

“In any way possible. This is what Early Access is all about, in our opinion. We browse the discussion boards constantly, talk about features, on how to improve them, what else we can add… We cannot promise we’ll add EVERYTHING that is suggested, but we can certainly promise we’ll do our best. Every suggestion posted on the discussion board is carefully listed on our internal wish-list (it got pretty massive…) which we use as a source for new features and tweaks. That same wish-list will remain our focus even after the game hits full release, and we’ll simply continue working on the game, improving it, adding features etc.”

So... it has been noted on numerous occasions that some of you esteemed ladies and gentlemen want to put faces to our names. As much as we frown on such frivolities, it is only fair that we abide by your wishes ;).

Please refrain from beating us into a pulp if you see us passing somewhere in the street. While I'm personally not a big fan of my bearded face , I'd rather not part with it either ;).

Update v0.8001 - How 'bout them twins?

Greetings spacefarers!



AN IMMEDIATE EDIT:
Time for a touch of sad news. We've hit two problems, late encountered, as can be seen from the time we're releasing this update.
One is related to compressed sector files. We know what the problem is exactly, but it will take until tomorrow to fix. Once that's done, you can expect the freeze when crossing sector border to reduce some more.

The other is related to combat music, more specifically switching from standard to combat music and back.
To prevent you fair ladies and gents from having your ears bleeding (the symptom was screeching noise from the deepest pits of the 9th circle of hell), we've switched off combat music for now, until we get to the bottom of the problem.
We hope to have it fixed tomorrow as well, in which case you can expect both of these features in working order tomorrow too.
The more varied music tracks are not impacted by this problem, so at least that's some consolation :).

While the below list might seem small in comparison to our usual changelists, a lot of work has been done since the last update.
Most changes unfortunately have no point in being mentioned since they're important for the upcoming campaign mode.

Highlights? Well... how about updated loot drop system, or full controller support, or perhaps the twin suns Castor and Pollux, more music tracks, artefacts, improved streaming... Feel free to take your pick :).

IMPORTANT!
Full controller support. This one is a bit tricky. We've made default profiles for all gamepads and joysticks we could get our hands on, but we need your help once again ladies and gentlemen.
All the controllers we tested have different configurations, making our work much harder. Basically this is what I'd like to ask of you:
If you try out a gamepad configuration, and you realize the default sucks big-time, let us know please. Moreover, if you're feeling especially generous, please configure your gamepad in the in-game options,
and then send oliver@starpointgemini.com both your StarpointGemini2Configuration.cfg and log.txt, located in the game root directory. This will allow us to create a default profile for that specific device.

Also if you encounter some problems using your controller device, let us know. We'll tweak, update and fix 'em all. In general, we're looking forward to feedback regarding controllers :).

We plan to have one more update before final launch, but of course if necessary, we'll release quickfixes in the meantime. And it is possible we'll be iterating through smaller, focused updates over the next two weeks.

CHANGE LIST

  • FIXED: An issue where destroying ships that spawn a derelict, caused outlaw looters to appear, which in turn could create an endless stream of outlaw looters. Several more script checks implemented.
  • FIXED: Tzar carrier hangar parameters fixed and tweaked
  • FIXED: Heavy weapon blast radius now deals damage to the object that was actually hit
  • FIXED: Ice asteroids now use appropriate destruction visuals

  • UPDATED: Loot drop system changed
    • Loot drop definition files completely changed to make it easier to balance
    • Loot drop now depends more on experience level and target type
  • UPDATED: Orpheus mine damage is generally reduced, but damage now depends on player level
  • UPDATED: Damage of the SETH deployable platform now depends on player level
  • UPDATED: Station will no longer call in a large security force to deal with you if you caused problems near it. The numbers are tweaked, largely based on player level.
  • UPDATED: If a station doesn't have any friendly ships nearby, security forces will no longer show up
  • UPDATED: Destroying bounties that are hostile towards you no longer yields negative reputation change

IMPORTANT FOR VISTA USERS

We do NOT officially support Vista, as is shown in the minimum requirements section (Win7 is minimum), but we do our best to keep it compatible nonetheless. PLEASE keep this in mind when considering a purchase. The current version does run on Vista though, but there is a special procedure for it (you need to opt into a special product branch) which is described in detail on the game discussion board.

Steam Workshop And Modding

Starpoint Gemini 2 is as mod-friendly as we can make it (although we constantly work on opening it up even more). Sharing your modded content through Steam Workshop is done easily via our Mod Manager that is supplied with the game. Check out the Workshop section to see what mods are already available!

It has been two years since the end of the second Gemini war, and the situation in the wartorn system is further from resolution than ever before. The collection of freedom fighters named Gemini League is now reduced to a small group, with no power or influence, after losing their leaders. The Empire meanwhile, has used the re-opened Starpoint to occupy the once renegade Gemini sector - and beyond.

A multitude of Imperial warship fleets and mammoth motherships have crushed every trace of opposition. The situation was looking bleak, when they suddenly halted their armada and re-shifted their focus on fortifying Starpoint with staggering numbers. Rumours soon spread that they were afraid of something coming after them through the T-gate, from what was supposed to be the core of the Empire. What are they running from that makes even the mighty Empire tremble?



Starpoint Gemini 2 will take players on a breath taking journey, with dark secrets and unimaginable twists that will finally unveil the incredible truth...

总结:属于比较传统的太空题材RPG+射击游戏,各方面都中规中矩,没什么太大亮点和突破。目前是beta版,还只有自由模式可以玩,所以作为RPG游戏最重要元素的剧情究竟如何,目前还不知道。

具体:

1、可能游戏最大的亮点就是无缝地图,飞船有类似跃迁引擎的功能,可以尽情地逛地图。但是整个星图看起来非常不科学,只能说比较偏重于娱乐性;探索的时候,飞船传感器除了能看到范围内的敌人之外,对探索地图似乎没什么太大帮助,因为最小的星区组成都是一个六边形地图,只要进入其范围,就可以看到整个六边形当中存在的物体,似乎一下子就没有什么探索欲望了……
而目前看来,每个星区可探索的元素也不多,贸易功能可以看作是等于没有,所以等到正式版,剧情完成之后,是否还有继续玩下去的欲望非常令人担忧。但是不排除正式版有更多丰富内容的可能性,只是个人不抱太大希望……

2、自由模式除了探索,其他主要就是接随机任务,但是整个游戏框架基本没有跳出自由枪骑兵的模式,归根结底无非就是根据玩家跟各个派系之间的关系而生成的;不过总是这样接任务攒钱,非常容易厌倦。游戏有很多RPG元素,包括职业、技能、可以雇佣船员和雇佣兵等,倒是还有点代入感。

3、飞船的装备设定比较传统,槽位主要分轻武器和重武器,就是炮台和导弹/鱼雷之分。武器和引擎、护盾之类的几乎所有装备都可以升级,可以换船,大船火力更大、也更耐久,也就是说,整个游戏流程基本上还是小船换大船的节奏。可能我要求太高,EVE里面二级科技舰船这个概念实在太吸引人了……

4、画面方面很优秀,对配置要求也不高,飞船都很有质感,虽然飞船数量不多,但是设计还算可以。至于操作,可能一开始不太习惯,但是上手也不难,而且炮台是可以自动开火的,所以很多时候只需要操作船的方向即可。我经常使用的就是炮台视角,键盘操作飞船,鼠标控制视角,因为船身上每个炮位都有射击范围(细节处理很不错),所以需要经常调节姿态,颇有一番太空战舰近身格斗战的紧张感。

如果喜欢太空RPG游戏,不妨可以等打折的时候考虑一下。(因为还是测试版,所以以上写的将来都可能会有变动)

双子星座2抢先体验中,目前beta测没有故事线,希望它的故事线能做的好一点。现在能体验的是自由模式,不过beta体验也能经历到也许以后会减掉的很多东西。

玩了下自由模式。把开头2个任务做了,然后开始探索。自由度非常的高。而且虽然是在一个星系里面,但是一个行星到另一个行星之间,有时候是好多个地图块的,所以其实地图还算挺大,探索起来有很丰富的内容。你也可以尝试做不同的事情,在自由模式中找到许多种玩法。

空格可以切换驾驶模式,战斗时自动跟随鼠标的那个模式比较有感觉,当然这个很个人的,有些朋友会更喜欢用键盘操控或者手柄。如果你选了目的地自动飞过去的话,自动跟随的模式记得要改回来,否则不会朝目的地转身。m是地图,打开后有黄色的任务点,左键接受任务然后去做就是了。太空站或者星球要停泊的话,也是左键选安可。尽量在地图里点选,不要在场景里随便锁定人家。你可以在场景里选好方向按鼠标中键点喷子,然后就朝那里一直飞一直飞(无视电容?)或者地图里随便对一个未探索地方点左键goto,星门过路费很贵,一开始都是自己开图。滚轮控制速度,右键开炮,所谓瞄准就是鼠标对准目标,船上聘用个炮手会好点。想看看自己的banner或者拍拍照什么的,按v就能转镜头,+-可以调整距离,tab切换人称。技能物品那些就是数字键。其他键都在开篇教学文本里介绍了,我就不废话了。

游戏上手很快,掌握基本的操作就可以开始找乐子了,技能在太空站可以洗掉,所以随便试吧,不需要担心太多,按照自己喜好来玩就好。

要说这游戏吸引我的主要特色是无缝地图吧,还有工坊有企业号(赞),还是挺有趣的。期待继续增加新的内容,故事线我觉得不如做在自由模式里面算了,这样走走主线看看剧情,平时自己爱干啥干啥更好玩。

简评:各方面中规中矩的游戏,但在匮乏的太空游戏系列里却成为一颗闪亮的新星。
画面:9/10
出色的贴图、材质和特效以及诸多丰富的细节营造了一个近乎完美的画面,我想在多屏输出上画面会更加出色!
游戏性:8/10
丰富的支线任务、交易系统以及声望设定为目前游戏主要内容,RPG升级设定是游戏的一大亮点。但由于还在测试阶段因此并没有丰富的主线任务,目前只有一个自由模式,可能对于喜欢剧情的玩家来说会失望了。
操作:7/10
操作方面简单容易上手,有些许不足,但不足之处还达不到反人类的地步,适应EVE和X3操作的玩家多少会有些不喜欢。
音效:7/10
音效背景音乐一般般,并没有什么出色的地方。

我是14.99美刀的时候入的,并且入的第一时间就沉迷其中不可自拔了,之前玩过很多太空游戏,但最终因为其繁琐的操作,混乱的界面、让人搞不清的玩法和糟糕的游戏体验而浅尝则止,在玩这款游戏之前一直在玩的太空游戏是X3系列,个人认为这款游戏在内容丰富性上不如X3,但在操作方面却比X3优秀,上手简单,战舰模型做的也很出色。总之,这款游戏我比较推荐喜欢太空游戏的玩家。

First Impressions:
For an early access game this game is already really playable as the sandbox mode works just fine. See this game as EVE offline. You fly your own ship (which you can upgrade or just buy a bigger one) around a HUGE universe that has highway like wormholes and natural wormholes. You can also move around anywhere under your own power so just traveling on highways or through wormholes isn't a must. There are hints of fleets in thwere but haven't been able to start one, although you can already by extra ships and leave them in your garage.

Your Ship:
Upgrades for your ships are plenty and the weapon systems include, lasers, plasma cannons, railguns, missiles, and much more which you can freely add to any supporting hardpoint on your ship (light for guns, heavy for ammo consuming launchers). All upgrades and repairs happen on the station and I've noticed you really need to shop around the stations to get the best stuff.

Your Crew:
Yes, this game has crews as even your starting ship is more then the usual fighters you get in other games. There are 3 shipstations which you can hire crew for. The crew gives you boosts on weapons or ship systems like engines, shields and cloaks depending on their skills. Again every station/planet offers different crews with different skills.

Gameplay:
Random missions are generated all the time wich includes simple "go there and shoot.." missions, scan anomalies and bringing around cargo and passengers. You can visit many many stations (and planets) to upgrade, repair, hire crew, trade and lots more. The universe is very much alive as you encounter friendly and non friendly ships all over the place. Some sectors and stations really don't like you and can form a real challange when fighting in those sectors (enemy reinforcemants and stations blasting you). Fighting is mouse controlled, aim and shoot your light weapons by clicking the right mouse button and fire your heavy ammo consuming weapons with X. Also you can give the command "Fire at will" which will basically unleash all weapons on all in range enemies (this can be very much fun to watch while you just fly around avoiding damage with guns blazing).

Trade is already present in the game but is still in it's first stages so you get very little info on prices except for a news scroller that is viewable on every planet and station.

Development:
Patches are rolling out in a steady pace and the devs are very active on the forums (Post a question, suggestion or comment and you'll likely get a reply within the hour). This just gives you extra confidence to buy this game in early access and help in it's development.

Current Verdict July 18 2014:
Highly recommended early access game that is only getting better with each update.

*My above opinion still hasen't changed, latest update is again full of content. Recommend to pick up on current sale :)

Current Verdict September 16 2014:
Latest patches have added full controller support for fans of those things. Also the game is nearly complete as release is almost here, they've been busy with optimizing the game and adding final features, complete campaign/story mode is not finished yet but devs have indicated it's coming soon! (And in the past they've proven time and time again that they uphold their word!).

So still a big fat recommend from me at this final stage of early access.
